    Steeler Nation

    Owner:Jeremy Korbini
    Coach:Mike Tomlin

    Goal

    Season Preview

Get back to Steeler Football, that means smash mouth, get in your face run between the tackles and wear you down football. We have been working on it between the tackles, rebuilding from the offensive line and up. Getting the workhorse Bell, and Blount are gonna smash up inside opening up ben to get his burners the ball.

    Offensive Strategy

Run,Run,Run did i mention run. Old school steeler football is back and will be represented under the Korbini regime. Between the tackles running behind pouncy and and the big hog mollies up front. Ben is back and better than ever, using the run to set up ben to go deep to Antonio Brown, Wheaton will play a big part and the new comers Martavis Bryant and the x facter Dri Archer will make things tough on opposing defenses.

    Defensive Strategy

The Steelers have rebuilt the linebacking core, Worlids, Jarvis Jones, Lawrence Timmons and the new comer a hybrid linebacker out of OSU Ryan Shazier. If they can get them to gel the steelers defense will be back and better than ever. In the secondary Ike "the old man taylor" will be the number 1 corner, and has lost a step but so far in camp we see he still has a few good years left. Also keep Troy healthy will definately be the difference between a playoff birth and a rebuilding year.

Blitzburgh Blitzed by Browns in Opener 31-3

Ben looking Distraught after a truely awful day vs the browns 10-33 86 yards 3 int's and a 1.9 qb rating

    September 8th, 2014

    Pittsburgh Post Gazette

Coach Korbini's start as the new steeler head coach couldnt have gone better... For the browns. The Cleveland Browns dismantled your Pittsburgh Steelers at home 31-3 and frankly it could have been much worse. The game started fine enough with a nice run by Bell down the left side for 17 yards, but was downhill after that run.

As the Steelers would come up just short on a few plays and punt it to Johnny Manziels Browns who would light up the steelers in a *** whoopin the Steelers haven't seen in quite awhile. Manziel would find Josh Jordon on an out and he would streak into the endzone putting the browns up 7-0. The route was on from there, to make matters worse for the steelers inept defensive not being able to stop johnny football. Ben had his worst statistical game of his career going 10-33 for 86 yards and 3 int's, 2 of them to one of the most feared corners in the game Joe Haden.

He was in Ben's head all day, as was much of the Browns defense. Browns would dominate and go up 31-0 at the half, and take their foot off the gas and would metriculate up and down the field. The one lone bright spot for the Steelers was Bell who would run for 79 yards, but after getting down big force the Steelers to pass. After the game coach Korbini said "well...welcome to the nfl for me i guess". Asked if he was prepared he said yes, but he would have liked to have more reps with the first teamers in the preseason. So where do your Steelers go from here, You gotta think up right?? I mean they can't get much worse...Can they?

      Steelers squeak by Ravens 30-27

Brown streaking down the sidelines for 1 of his 2 td's on the night

Coach Korbini was all smiles as his team rebounded in a hostile environment vs the bitter rival ravens. After last game the team really had nothing to lose and it showed. Steelers would get down early again as Ben would throw another pick 6. But this time, the steelers would get up off the mat.

Led by Levian Bell, and his 150 yards on the ground the steelers would gash up the ravens and then would find Brown on a corner route. The steelers would then get their own pick 6 and the steelers were all smiles. The ravens would get back in it, but behind Bell and company the steelers would pull away and win it 30-27.

Coach Korbini said after the game "that's more like it", then bolted off into the locker room. With game 3 vs the Panthers right around the corner looks like the steelers are headed in the right direction.

Bell Punishes Panthers, but Panthers have last laugh 41 to 38

Bell breaking tackles left and right all night running for 275 yards and 3 tds

        Pittsburgh Post Gazette

Sometimes you can do everything right and still not get the right results. That is what happened in the exciting game Thursday night Pittsburgh at Carolina. The offensive line and Levian bell were locked in all game, not to mention the steelers defense who would score not 1 but 2 td's....yet the Steelers will still lose. How you are probably wondering, well it took skill and finesse by the steelers.

Well Early on Bell would gash the panthers with runs of 72,53,47, and the steelers would get a nice lead due to back to back int's for td's by Mitchell and Allen. The steelers would build a nice 13 point lead and would start coasting but Ben's mistake proness would continue and that would lead to the undoing. The panters would take a lead with 2 mins to go, and Steelers would not change their gameplan the plan was GET BELL THE ROCK, and that they did as bell would then have a 63 yard run up the middle leaving the panthers around 45 secs to score a td.

The Steelers D would stiffen up and get it to 4th down, but due to alot of cadences at the line and alot of movement, the d would get confused and he would find olsen in the middle of the field and the steelers would lose on the last play of the game and were a bit humbled shocked and overall just kinda pissed. Bell had one of the best games of his young carrer going for 25 carries 275 yards and 3 tds, but in the end the steelers lose and sit at 2-2.

After the Game, Coach Korbini would not speak to the media, he was seen muttering, "that was more than 2 hot routes that was more than two hot routes", whatever that means. Next up for the Steelers is the Bucs at home, lets hope these steelers recover quickly.

Steelers Squeak by Bucs, on Toe of Suisham

Suisham boots the game winner his 3rd of the day

          Pittsburgh Post Gazette

Sometimes its better to be luckier than good, and on this day your Pittsburgh Steelers were a little bit of both. In a defensive struggle vs the vaunted Bucs defense the steelers would win it with defense and on the leg of Suisham.

However, early on the Steelers would dig a early home, as the first play of the game Ben would throw a pick 6 his 5th of the year, Ben would misread the play and 15 secs in the steelers would be down 7-0. The Steeler players all looked at eachoter on the bench and said Not again. However after that play the steelers settled down, and this time not behind the running of Play of the Week Bell, but with quick short passes and timely defense.

The Bucs would move the ball with runs and short plays, but on this day their kicker Connor Barth would, be no match, missing 3 FG's that still haunt the Bucs to this day. Cause the biggest miss, would give the chance for steelers to drive down the field and have Suisham boot the game winner and send the steelers home winners.

After the game, Coach Korbini said " sometimes you win ugly....well im just glad we won", next up for the Steelers they will travel to Jacksonville and face the 0-4 Jags.

            Steelers Steamroll the Jags 24-16

Dri Archer is all business after his 74 yard td

It was all business in Jacksonville as the Steelers came they saw they conquered and dominated in all facets. The score i much closer than how the game actually played out. The Steelers had close to 400 yards on the ground and almost 3 100 yard rushers.

It all started on a 3rd and 3 at the 45 yard line, Archer would take the handoff and juke a tackle and with his speed he was gone and the steelers were off and running up 7-0. Steeler would then add a fg and while it looked like a laugher, Ben would continue his trend of throwing a pick 6 in EVERY game so far this year.

Levian Bell would finish with 167, Blount 67 and Archer would finish with 84. The real MVP of this game was the Offensive line who would blow open holes all over the field and help the steelers gash the Jags defense.

After the Game Coach Korbini was a missed bag, he was happy with the win but is worried about Ben and he knows, if he throws a pick 6 in cleveland next week, then they are in serious trouble. He said "He better play it safe next week, we really cant afford alot of mistakes". The steelers head to the mistake by the lake on a winning streak and alot of momentum. Till next time..Go Steelers

Steelers Snatch Defeat from the Jaws of Victory in Cleveland lose 28-23

Troy looking confused on how Steelers dominated and lost to Browns

              Pittsburgh Post Gazette

..............Wha....t. Thats basically how the steelers felt after the game vs the Browns. The first game they got their *** beat 31-3. This game they came out fired up. They wanted revenge. They wanted to really make the browns pay, but they only did it for one half and they made serious errors in the second half that would seal this for the Browns.

Early on the steelers would dominate on the ground, Bell pounding the rock left, pounding the rock right and even pounding the rock up the middle. However Dri who had a really nice run last week was absent all game. Not sure why but it didn't hurt the Steelers to much early on. The steelers would have to settle for fg's early and would hold a 6-0 lead at halftime.

This would come back to hurt the Steelers later, but not early in the 3rd the Steelers would continue to pound the rock with Bell and Blount, the Wake and Back backfield, and would even score a td to make it 13-0 with about 2 mins left in the 3rd quarter. Then it would happen, the momentum would blow in the browns direction and boy did it blow, After the Td steelers would kick off to Hawkins, and he would twist and find a crease and take it 100 yards and just like that. The gameplan would come undone, the plan of running the ball and running clock was ended in about 10 secs.

However the game was only 13-7, not all bad right, steelers continued to pound the rock and even found antonio brown in the flat steelers would metriculate the ball the around the 30 of the Browns, looked like they had regained Ole Mo, but Ben changed the play at the line and decided to try a PA, little did he know after last game where Haden picked him off 3 times, that Joe Haden is actually super human and Ben who would try to fit it in a small gap, would of course miss, and Haden would intercept it and bounce off 3 steelers find the sideline and streak for a TD.

Just like that, all the domination all the work all the prep, just like that 14-13 browns. Wow and steelers looked in shock and Troy kinda starred at the scoreboard, knowing his D had given up no TD's yet were headed to the 4th down 14-13.

Ben would throw another INT, and browns would go up by 8. Steelers in shock wouldnt wain from their gameplan and continued to pound the rock, bell would find a gap and this time was stripped and the browns had this game in control. making it 28-16. With 4 mins left, bell would take another carry his 31 of the game and go down the sideline for around 60 yards finishing his day with 199 yards on 31 carries. He did his part and the steelers would come up short 28-23 on a day they dominated.

After the game Coach Korbini.... could not be reached, but was seen at the local bar taking shots and muttering the words Haden,Haden,Haden. Next up for the Steelers the Texans come to Heinz field and at 3-3 the Steelers still have alot to prove.

Steelers Thump Texans, behind monster game from Timmons

Timmons had a monster game 2 sacks,4 int, and 1 td on the day

In the NFL you must have a short memory and the Steelers did just that, after blowing a 17 point lead in Cleveland the following week, the Steelers were all business vs the Houston Texans in prime time.

Steelers, have had the uncanny ability to forget quickly and put the past behind them and do what they do and that is run the ball. Getting back to their roots the Steelers continue to lead the NFL in rushing, lead by the Rushing leader Levian bell who would slice up the texans for 150 yards and 2 touches. Archer would also pitch in with a short scamper.

Enough about the offense this game was about the D, The Steelers D has been outstanding of late and coach Korbini has been preaching, Turnovers and Timmons certainly listened as he jumped short route after short route and that included a 74 yard td, right before half.

Steelers this time would step on the Texans throat and wouldn't let them back in it unlike the cleveland game and would seal it with a troy INT, and now the steelers stand at 4-3 with a big game, the Colts are coming to town
                .

                  Re: Steeler Nation

In biggest collapse on the NFL stage, Steelers fall 32-29 to Colts

This is what the coach, players and fans were thinking in that 1:10 in 4th

                  ..............Explative............Explative...... ..(breaking of glass)......Explative......
                  ...............................Shock.

That explains the last 1:10 of the Steeler vs Colts. Forget the rest of the game, the steelers, came out on a mission and imposed their will on the colts from the Jump. Running all over them with their ground attack and fierece defense.

The Colts would pass alot, but the steelers would figure them out, and take over the game in the 2nd half, with a variety of runs and short passes to Antonio brown. Things were looking very good in a rainy Heinz field as the steelers had just intercepted Luck and were driving and making the colts use all their timeouts. The steelers had a 10 point lead with 1:20 secs and colts had no timeouts, when Coach Korbini called for the run on 3rd and 3. The ball was given to Dri, and he took off and was tackled a few inches short.

Coach Korbini, wanted to go for it to ice the game, but the rules said he couldn't he didnt think. So on 4th and inches with 1:15 the biggest collapse,WTF moment pretty much ever in any sport or in any game would happen.

So Wing would punt it, and would land around the colts 4, on first play after that, Ryan Shazier would get good pentration and sack Luck, WOOHOO the game is over Steelers up 12. ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS kneel it after the punt, of course a over zealous rookie Dri Archer would field the free kick and try to run it, he would get hit in the rain and would fumble it. So now Colts have the ball at the steelers 20 with 1 min to go.

Steelers Defense had already started to celebrate and now they had to go back on the field, and they cold stop no one, and the colts would score with 45 secs to go. Okay Okay, no big deal, as long as we get the onside kick we avoid disaster, on the kick it would hit a steeler in the hands and colts would get it.

Now with 30 secs to go colts would dink and dunk, then steelers would put together a defensive play, out to sack luck, they would get penetration from both sides, and 2 steelers had luck in their grasp a sack would surely end the game, no timeouts and a 15 yard loss, but luck will squirm away and there was no one on the left side of the field and he would run for 30 yards and get out of bounds the next play was a td pass, and a 2 pt conversion.........................

                  Colts win

                    Re: Steeler Nation

Nine is Fine,Steelers force 9 turnovers in shellacking of division rival Ravens

Troy streaking down the sidelines after 1 of his 4 Int's on the day.

Resiliancy is one thing this Steelers team has this year. After, not letting last weeks meltdown affect them at all and handling business at home vs a divisional rival. Alot of teams would have let it affect them, not this team, in all actuality it looked like it motivated them more and were gonna make sure they really step on their throat.

The Game started with Steelers forcing a 3 and out and after the punt, Antonio Brown would catch a comeback, turn make a juke and go 87 yards for a td. Things were looking up, not only did Steelers have a early lead at home, they actually had a TD pass early which hasnt happened since last time they played the Ravens.

Ravens would then start what would be a theme on the day, throwing a INT to Troy, then a INT to Allen, Then to Worlids,THen to Troy....there seems to be a theme that that team, that this Steeler defense would not let them lose again. Troy was quoted saying "never again" that was the resounding sound coming from the Steeler locker room , never again. So that game certainly taught them something.

As for the offense, the usual ground game was at work with bell going for 150 and a touch, but also Blount had 2 carries for 76 yards and 2 touchdowns, both his carries would go for long touchdowns. The Wake and BaKe backfield was looking good and would really carry the offense on the day.

Steelers would make sure to step on the throat as Timmons who now leads the NFL in int's would seal it with the teams 9th int on the day.

Coach Korbini, who would again speak to the media said "there is something about this team, everytime we get knocked in the mouth we keep getting up... there definately is something to say for that". As the the Steelers they now sit at 5-4 but very well could be 8-1. One thing is for sure if this team can get in the playoffs with how much they have been tested. Not many would want to play them.
