It had been almost a month since Nolan Ryan talked to his old buddies about getting on board with his plan. Everyday, Ryan would go into town with a couple quarters, grab a warm cup of joe and sit at the local dinner while thumbing through the pages of The Dallas Morning News and everyday the news was the same:
No News
Nolan chuckled. Surely it didn’t take a month to map out a plan and put it into action. Where were the National Inquirer headlines? The front page stories? Surely, Nolan’s friends hadn’t just played him for a class A sucker like everyone else?
Nolan looked up disgusted from his newspaper at the TV, only to catch the best news he’d heard all week.
