Re: 2K15 Post Your Facescan Thread

After days and days of trying, I finally gathered up every flashlight, lamp, and filled them all with 100wat CFL lightbulbs, and still only got 3k reference points, but I'd say it came out pretty good.

Xbox One. Took 1 floor lamp, 2 tabletop lamps, 1 cellphone light and about 6 hours of ridicule from the wife, kids, and the neighbors.

Even though I got a respectable pic I really believe this feature is faulty. No way it should take some of the goofy acts we are trying. It shouldn't be this tough. From what I'm reading it's only a very small % of gamer's who have been able to get it to work.

I 100% agree with feedback while scanning. I think they should place that face gird thing they show you at the end, on the screen while scanning, so you know where your head should be.

I don't get it. XB1 - Tried this set-up this morning. Kinect at eye-level, propped-up. Sunlight coming in, with a big fish tank light shining in my face, light also hitting me on the left and the right. It looked great on screen. Again, the facescans came out horrible.

Here's the best one I got out of this set-up.

For Xbox One cats, I saw a YouTube video where it said less light works. I tried it and got a decent result. Low reference points, around 2000, but everything was on line and looks very similar to me. I just used one room light from the ceiling. This was after having failed scans trying to use every free lamp and cell phone flashlight in my house. The guy from the video said the Kinect camera is sophisticated enough to find and capture you with little light and more light washes out the scan. Try it and see.

I noticed that too. Less light, you get a more accurate skin tone. But, I can't even get a scan that looks like a human-being.

This is how mine turn out. I wish someone who worked through these results could post what they changed.

Bottom line - they need to patch it. It shouldn't be this difficult. I'm pretty good with these kind of things, and I'm really struggling.

Looks like you have too much light on your face, do a little less light. Also don't have you face fill the entire green box. I got best results when I had my ears in the box with a tiny bit of space between my ears and the edge of the inside of the box. Also make sure there is a little bit of space from the bottom of your chin and the bottom of the green box.

I've tried 3 different rooms in the house. Multiple variations of lighting including; daylight only, daylight and cellphone light, daylight and a single floodlamp, daylight and 2 floodlamps in a "v" formation.

I've tried holding the Ps4 camera, I've tried it while on a desk, I've done it eye level, with my chin up, with a white A4 sheet of paper under my face.

The frustrations of trying to get this to work is just astounding. I really hope some work is done by 2k 'coz it just doesn't work right.

Agree with everything here. They need to really do something about the "we momentarily lost track of your face". I would like to know how and why. Especially in instances where it is completely fine until it goes to actually scan and suddenly it loses track even though neither face or camera moved

The "slowly turn your head to the left and right" is the most difficult process. I'm usually good up until I start turning me head.i thought I was golden at won't point yesterday. Looked straight ahead, slowly turned left, got mid way to turning right and got the "lost track" message and could not recover from there. No matter what I did it would not continue scanning, kept losing track of my face. So close too, 75%.

Spot on. This was a featured addition and it's a joke. I've tried 100 scans in every type of light imaginable. Slow turn, sheet behind, everything. I have yet to get anything that resembles a person. I can understand shadows messing with skin tone but I'm getting f-kng Sloth from the goonies here. Haven't been able to break past. 2400 ref pts.

Lame. Looks like I'll be using the standard create a player.

Sounds exactly like my issues. This is unreal. Only reason I got this game.
