Problem is you can jump to block a shot under the rim and your player will not jump, responsiveness on defense seems to be an issue. Also the defensive ai on my team on superstar sim is terrible, sometimes they don't have a clue. The game seems fun though just some frustrations. Offense feels pretty good. Computer offense a bit too good especially players making some crazy shots with players you may. Ot expect. Hopefully a patch can solve some issues. -
Re: ***Official NBA 2K15 Impressions Thread***
I'm having a really hard time with 1.) How often players are running 10 feet from their assigned spot when they're passed the ball during plays and 2.) how often people are wide open, and somehow get the front of their shoe on the 3 point line and only earn a 2. And it's not just my players having this issue. In my most recent game, I intentionally left a guy wide open on two separate occasions in the 1st quarter from the corner - both shots went in, both were 2s. Without a doubt my biggest gripes with the gameplay.Comment

***Official NBA 2K15 Impressions Thread***
I just played a game against the Lakers as the clippers. We were battling back and forth the whole game. They were up by 2 in the final minute of the fourth when I decided to double Kobe off the screen which forced him to shoot an off balance fadeaway 3 that air balls. On my next possession I run a pick and roll with CP3 and Griffin. The A.I doubles CP3 off the pick so I pass it to Griffin with an open lane to the basket. He then proceeds to posterized Boozer and the camera zooms out and shows the crowd going wild.
This is all on superstar sim. I find the game challenging and rewarding if you strategized properly. I also won the offensive rebound battle. They had 4 to my 6. That's just my 2 cents.Comment

Having a tough time with how the CPU is spacing out of a pick and roll. If I'm running a top of the key PNR, that weakside corner shooter (if driving left, right corner shooter) should space towards the 3 point break / wing. It's standard movement in the nba.
Him staying in the corner really limits your passing options.Last edited by RipCity71252; 10-14-2014, 03:02 AM.Comment

Re: ***Official NBA 2K15 Impressions Thread***
So much fun to watch the CPU actually have a game plan.
I usually do 3 modes: One MyCareer, One Wolves franchise, and another with 3 perfect players on my team with the rest of my roster being horrible and then I put legends on their respective teams.
I just played a game against the Lakers (Wilt, Gasol, Baylor, Kobe, and Magic).
The first half they ran the offense through Wilt and Gasol down low. Well my perfect, 7'2 center dominated them and they didn't have much success.
The 2nd half, they come out posting up Kobe and Baylor and go on a pretty big run to make the game close, but I ended up pulling it out.
Love this game!Comment

Again I've just played againts Thunder with Rockets on all-star/sim and Durant missed 2 wide open threes (not contested), 3 wide open midrange shots (again not contested). So CPU open shots are not automatic.
I like that now you can make superstars go cold by forcing them to take bad shots.Comment

Re: ***Official NBA 2K15 Impressions Thread***
Been keeping an eye on this thread, and noticed a lot of the vets whose input I rely on haven't issued "final verdict" type impressions. It's a testament to the depth of the gameplay; after playing about 20-25 games with various teams (SS/Sim), it's hard for me to see how one can submit a final indictment after just a few days, on a game with SO MANY options, SO MANY layers to it.
Starting playing with the mindset I had pretty much all year with 2K14, of "Oh wow that is a problem, let's go into the slider menu to fix" and "Melo/Kobe just took only 11 shots, let's head on over to Roster Editor/Edit Player and tweak him."
And I thought it would be that way, especially after playing a few games and seeing the CPU OREB/quick putback issue. Was thinking okay, slider-itis begins... and never quite ends. Put down the CPU OFF Rebs to 35, lowered their (and mine) shooting sliders to 45.... raised fouls sliders... and.... that's it! Been playing for the past few days just loving the gameplay.
The defensive settings, and gameplan in general is just incredible in how many options we have. Then, OFF and DEF PoE's, which you MUST adjust AT LEAST by QTR to respond to what the opponent is doing. There's no way around it. I'd even suggest making a change or two during TO's depending on the situation.
Played the Mavs last night w/POR. Thing of beauty. Dirk would instantly turn and do his patented off-balance fade if LA was on him at the FT line extended. If anyone else, he might turn and just pull it, or try to drive. Ellis coming around screens up top and pulling long 2's, or try to blow by the help. He torched me for 26 in the 1st half, but I ended up keying on him, going under screens, no hedge. Off ball I chose to gap him. He took a few semi-open 3's, missed and got cold. I took the chance on the 3's, but I couldn't have him keep getting into the key area at will.
The settings are just great, I have no clue why they'd EVER be removed. Never again please, 2K. Only thing I'd want in addition is the ability to choose how to close out on people (run hard and contest at all costs, stop short, etc), and choose who to rotate to/who we're willing to leave open vs not leave open at any cost. But what we have is more than enough to combat what's happening on the court.
Also played NYK and won. Melo would get it low block extended (right side), turn and face. Cross left to right, spin jumper away from rim. Three times in a row he abused Batum like this. So I started bringing my man to double, and he responded by turning and immediately driving, not waiting, no moves at all. So I put Batum to Deny, set PoE to Protect the Paint. Then he couldn't easily get it there. Then I'm gapping everyone except Calderon lol, and they starting taking a LOT of kickout 3's, and made some. But it took them out of Melo dominating from the block. Just beautiful.
Also, someone can tell me if this is a one-off or if players are actually smarter on the break. Once, I mistakenly outlet passed to Matthews while Lillard was calling for it. But seeing a break opportunity, I started to run upcourt with it. Lillard filled the left lane and started sprinting upcourt and to the corner, and I hit him for the open 3. It looked and felt cool, like he thought "let's run we got numbers!"
I know this is a long-winded post, and I'll wrap up but one more thing lol. None of the 2K14 "workarounds" prevail to get scores and stops. I can admit last year I'd slightly nudge the LS, or do the little step-shuffle left then right, to get by the defender from time to time. Or make up for bad D by sailing in for the unrealistic block, or trying to trigger that God-awful 5-second-stumble-then-pick-up-dribble animation (which is thankfully gone). But now, a good defender can and will stay in front of you often. Forcing you to use P&R's, try to get mismatches, or you have to just take the good ol' pullup when your defender is giving space.
Really enjoying the gameplay, it may be the shot for slider-itis this year. As long as they don't patch it and change anything significantly.
PS... Just read the OS review, and definitely agree that the online issues should be called out, and hopefully ironed out by 2K soon. Fortunately for me, I never, ever venture online and am mainly an offline player. With that said, this is shaping up to be, IMO, the best playing hoops game ever, and by a good margin.NOW PLAYING:
