    1989-1990 NBA Roster Project

OK. I know a bunch of different projects like this are underway, but while the 03-04 project currently in development sounds like a blast, I'm a bit on the older side - I was, and I can't really believe this, already married with a kid on the way by the time the 03 season started. I'm looking to recreate something a bit more retro, specifically, the 1989-1990 NBA season, with rosters as they were on opening night 1989. This means the tail end of the Bird era in Boston (but with Reggie Lewis!), the Isaiah Pistons. Miller's on the Pacers and Barkley's in Philly; the NBA just expanded to 27 teams so the Heat, Magic, T-Wolves, and Hornets are just barely ready to go.

My goal is to make a MyGM friendly rosters, with more-or-less accurate contracts, potential, and the like. I also want to create the next five or six draft classes, eventually.

Would anyone play this? Would anyone be willing to join the project and help make it happen? As I said in another thread, I'm decent at ratings but the aesthetics - particularly signature stuff and faces - are beyond me.

    Nice, man, good luck!
What platform will it be on? Asking cuz I wanna add this thread here.
Not sure if I'll be able to help, but I definitely wish someone else does!
    Thank you for this.

      It's for the PS4.

Started this afternoon. Halfway through the Sixers. Right now Mike Gminski looks like the father from The Croods but otherwise it's going well. I forgot that Johnny Dawkins was actually really good for about 10 seconds.

How will you handle the expansion teams? If the goal is for myGM you can't really have all 25 overall players

I'm certainly working on it, but it takes a lot of time - we're talking about creating somewhere around 250 players, editing another 150, and then figuring out the draft classes. I'm hoping to finish it in the vicinity of the New Year, unless somebody comes along to help.

Right now I'm through the 76ers, Bucks, Bulls, and most of the Cavs. I'm especially happy with Alvin Robertson. I haven't done tendencies or signature style for most of the players yet; I'm going to try to get everyone built with attributes done and then go back and edit the rest.

I`m really interested in playing this roster. Can`t really help because I haven`t got a PS4, but I`ll be buying it by Christmas.
                        Retro rosters are the best!!!!
                        Keep on working.

The following teams are finished (teams shown with the tentative overall ratings for their top 3 players - I'll need to go back and tweak everything at the end).

Also, and importantly, I've switched from 1989-1990 to 1990-1991; it's only a year's difference, but I can't find salary information for 89-90 and it's widely available for 90-91.

                              So: finished teams -

                              Philadelphia 76ers - Charles Barkley (91), Johnny Dawkins (81), Hersey Hawkins (79)

Milwaukee Bucks - Jay Humphries (85), Alvin Robertson (83), Danny Schayes (80)

Chicago Bulls - Michael Jordan (99), Scottie Pippen (89), Horace Grant (85)

Cleveland Cavaliers - Larry Nance (84), Brad Daugherty (84), Mark Price (81)

Boston Celtics - Robert Parish (88), Kevin McHale (83), Larry Bird (83)

Washington Bullets (Wizards) - Bernard King (79), Harvey Grant (78), Pervis Ellison (72)

I'm working on the Warriors now.
