    Re: 2014 CFB Playoff Rankings

I'm good with 1-3. I'm really really happy the committee gave Auburn the respect they deserve.

The team with the best loss after that with the best schedule In my opinion is Kansas State. I can see why they got ranked 9th since they haven't played as many of the big boys in the Big 12 yet, but if you're going to put Auburn 3, that should in theory make the best one loss team Kansas State or possibly Notre Dame.

My rankings would look like this:

    1. Miss State
    2. FSU
    3. Auburn
    4. Kansas State
    5. Notre Dame
    6. Ole Miss
    7. Alabama
    8. TCU
    9. Oregon
    10. Michigan State

Like I said in the Off-Topic, if this is an indication of how they perceive Auburn, then I feel good that Auburn can get in the playoff if they win out regardless if Miss St plays and wins the SEC Championship which would put two SEC in the final 4. Tough road ahead for Auburn, but at least there is the potential of Auburn controlling their own destiny.

I agree, I think regardless of what Miss State does from here on out, if Auburn wins out, which would include beating UGA twice, they should be in regardless of what else happens. We are setup for a scenario where the Egg Bowl and Iron bowl could determine 2 of the playoff members, and that's going to make for some exciting November Football.

Can't really argue with the Top 4.

To say that I'm shocked that UofL cracked the Top 25 would be an understatement. Would love to see where we move to if we are able to pull the upset tomorrow night.

Yeah but my look at it is that Auburn can get in with only having to play UGA once, and let Miss St have that extra game in the SEC Champ game. These initial rankings show that AU can make it without being in that SEC Champ game, so AU doesn't have to worry about Bama beating Miss St which I'm happy about. I was still working on how I was going to cheer for Bama. The wrench in it for Auburn is if an undefeated Miss St makes it to the SEC Champ game and loses.

It's a loooooong way to go...but if AU wins out with road victories at Ole Miss, Georgia, and Alabama...along with a road win at KState and a blowout win over an LSU that looks to be improving rapidly...

AU would be in no question.

Don't forget...Missouri only has one SEC loss and doesn't have to play Auburn, Alabama, or either Mississippi school out of the west.

If Auburn beats Georgia...Missouri just has to beat Tenneessee, Kentucky, and Arky and they're back in Atlanta. That's doable for them.

Mizzou has a miraculously easy draw in conference this year.

....they would then get slaughtered by whoever won the West.

And that easy path to the SECCG through the East is the ammo that some of the SEC-bias talk is using. The weakness.

I'm alright with the rankings right now. I think ND should be higher, but I'll admit that my hatred for them makes me chuckle at the fact. That said, there is still plenty of time for things to be flipped upside down and back again. This weekend could really shake things up.

Don't agree with the rankings much. That's clear in the OT. There is still plenty of football to be played. That being said, if Notre Dame wins out and still is out of the top 4, then I can't say I'll be any more pleased than during three BCS era.

Also, this might be a little off topic, but with there being real potential the sec gets 2 teams in considering the west has 3 or 4 great teams, it had me thinking that the conference championship loses a good bit of value. Why not go to 8 teams and get rid of the conference championship games. I'm not saying I'm all for that, just an idea.

Auburn lost at the #1 team in the nation.

Oregon lost to a mediocre Arizona team in Eugene.
Oregon beat Michigan State at home.

Auburn beat K State on the road.

It's really that simple as to why the committee has AU over Oregon.

But it doesn't matter anyway because it's Oct 29th and there is half of a football season to be played.

That being said, there is zero reason to complain about why once beaten Auburn is ahead of once beaten Oregon.
Why do you give Auburn so much credit for beating K State only to discredit Arizona? You do realize they're right there together in the rankings? If one is mediocre, they're both mediocre unless you're also using the eye test, which in that case it is no secret now that Oregon has a healthy offense they're a choice for best offense in the nation.

And I just love how FSU gets no respect from SEC fans. They're only still undefeated with a better win than about anyone in the nation. Yet, you discredit them and Notre Dame in their game even though both looked like two of the best.

                      Okie dokie.

Id rate Oregon over MSU, AU at KState, Ole Miss over Bama, KState at OU equal or higher.

It's Oct 29th man. It's really not a big deal right now.

I think canes is overrating ND a little bit(mostly in response to his comments in the OT thread). Our 2 best wins now look like pretty average wins(Michigan/Stanford) since the two teams have fallen off the radar since. I don't mind being behind the SEC teams and say Oregon at this point, but I do think 10 is a bit harsh. Like I said before, ND would be 2nd had they beat FSU. And considering they were literally a 50/50 call away from doing that, I think some credit is deserved... not go from potentially 2nd to 10th, we might as well have just gotten blown out.

And yes i know it's early blah blah blah.

Getting away from that I'm really interested in next weeks rankings after this Auburn/Ole Miss game. 3 vs 4 but whoever loses will have 2 losses. Normally you'd fall behind all the 1 loss teams, but I'm curious how the committee will rank them.
