How do I know when I'm hot or another shooter is hot?

The instructions say to click the touchpad on the controller but that doesn't show me when players are "hot" or "cold". It only calls quick plays or change off poe or def poe's. Nothing about hot and cold players.

I think the only indicator is the pulsating red ring under the player.

^ this, but i cant seem to have the touchpad doing anything for me, im not sure if im doing something wrong or what but nothing that uses the touchpad seems to do anything at all for me.

Yea and I dont think I've ever seen my player or another player get hot because they can never stay consistent making baskets long enough. I think I'll make 2 in a row, then miss one, then make one, then miss 3, then make 2, etc.

Maybe the heat check is broken and needs to be patched. I literally have NO idea how to do a heat check at all. There is nothing that shows when players are hot or cold. Even the circle around the player just is a neutral color.

Any ideas?

I had this problem too on ps4, thought maybe it was broken and then I finally had two user controlled players in a hot streak, if you press the touchpad it shows the red rings below them, it does work so must have been the first time I got some players hot other than me

It also depends if you're on offense or defense, it shows who is hot offensively when you have possession and who's hot on defense when defending, of course also shows blue for cold

Which direction do you press the touchpad? You're talking about the directional touchpad right?

Nope, only way is the red circle under the player's feet since the touchpad thing isn't working.

The touchpad thing is working. You have to press it like its a button. When you click the touchpad it shows everyone on your team if they're hot or cold. If nobody is hot or cold it won't show anything.

Again, are you talking about the touchpad as in the DIRECTIONAL pad or the big square button on the PS4 controller??
