Hurricanes Rock the Flyers 4-2

Cam Ward Robs Claude Giroux Early in the Game

Another slow start by Philadelphia, another loss in the loss column. The Flyers fell behind early and tried to comeback but everytime they got close, Carolina would put another puck past Ray Emery. "It was frustrating for sure. We started off slow and couldn't bounce back like we have." Wayne Simmonds told reporters. Carolina got some timely goals from unlikely sources in Chris Terry and Riley Nash that put the Flyers away.

Nathan Gerbe started things off after he snuck into the slot to bury a shot past Emery. Jeff Skinner would double the Canes lead midway in the 1st after a fortunate bounce off a Flyers dman put the puck right on his stick and in easy position to beat a flailing Emery. Cam Ward would stiffle everything the Flyers threw at him including a highlight reel save. With the Flyers on the powerplay Brayden Schenn and Claude Giroux found themselves down low when a deflection put the puck on Schenn's stick. Schenn fired a pass to Giroux who was all alone on the left side of Ward, but the Carolina goalkeeper would dive over and get his helmet on it to keep it out of the net.

RJ Umberger would bring the Flyers to within one off a breakaway goal, but Chris Terry would capiltalize on a terrible rebound that Emery failed to control. The Flyers tried everything they could in the third period and managed to keep Carolina pinned deep in their zone with some superb forechecking and that paid off as the top line of Jake Voracek, Wayne Simmonds, and Claude Giroux stole the puck and completed a beautiful tic-tac-toe play that riled up the Philadelphia crowd. Despite all the pressure the Flyers couldn't find that tying goal, but Riley Nash would have no problems as he weaved his way to the top of the face-off circle and ripped a shot just past Emery to seal the game.

I love the guy in the crowd with the Hartford Whalers green and white jersey who turns and cheers in the faces of the Flyers fans. That guy would have been shortly killed after that.

If born prior to 1986 he would receive a pass.

Anything after then, he's just another wannabe nostalgic dink who likely never watched a single Hartford Whalers game (because they were either too young or are posers.)

I officially will state this dynasty is severely unrealistic. There is NO WAY the Hurricanes would have a record over .500. I'd suggest sending the PS4 back to the manufacturer and demand answers.

Is it just me, or does Tyler Kennedy have a very punch-able face? Something about him makes me fill with homicidal rage, yet I'd be too much of a chicken to every confront him IRL because he would easily beat me up.

You're better off simming, you'll win more games that way.

Also, you aren't the only one who finds Tyler Kennedy's pig-face very punchable. Pretty much all of the Flyers faithful feel the same way.

Flyers Can't Solve Bernier, Suffer Third Period Letdown


Bernier makes a huge save on Brayden Schenn Early in the game

Jonathan Bernier held the fort for the Maple Leafs through two periods after the Flyers came out firing and two quick goals at the start of the third period sealed the deal as the Maple Leafs defeated the Flyers 4-1 last night. The Flyers came out firing on all cylinders outshooting the Maple Leafs 10-2, but could not get one past Bernier who was standing on his head. The 2nd period was much of the same as the Flyers peppered shot after shot at Bernier but still the scoreline showed goose eggs. "We threw everything we could those first two periods. It was frustrating and I think it showed in the third period. We were gripping our sticks too tightly and trying to force plays after we fell behind." Braydon Coburn said.

David Clarkson scored a minute into the third when the puck took a strange bounce on the way to Jakub Voracek and Clarkson fired slapshot just under Mason's glove to give the Leafs a 1-0 lead. Shortly after Joffery Lupul started to go behind the net but passed the puck to Peter Holland just to the right of Mason and roofed it passed the young goaltender. The Flyers would get one back on a 5-on-3 Powerplay when Lecavalier would find Matt Read to finally snap Bernier's shutout, but Leo Komarov used a screen to get a shot by Mason to put the Flyers back on their heels. Phil Kessel would seal the deal after Andrew MacDonald would accidently collide with Steve Mason leaving the net wide open.

F*** Bernier..... and the Leafs...Kudos to the AI for actually going defensive after the 2-0 lead though. Really noticed them going into a 1-4 and that made it tough. Might need to play with the sliders some more cause Mason/Emery can't stop much. Clarkson's slapshot was utter crap, no screen at all.

Jake From Statefarm Gives the Flyers A Victory

Jake Voracek Celebrates His Game Winning Goal

Jake Voracek scored two goals, including the game winner with less than a minute left in overtime and Claude Giroux had a goal and 2 assists as the Philadelphia Flyers took down the Colorado Avalanche 3-2 last night. The Flyers once again came out of the gate hot, but could not get one past Varlamov in the 1st period. Voracek would score his 1st of the night after some great forechecking. Claude Giroux would get the puck behind the net and slipped a pass past two Avalanche defenders right to Voracek who slammed home an easy goal.

Third period turned into a back and forth affair after ex-Flyers Max Talbot tied the game after he found a juicy rebound and shot it past a flailing Steve Mason. Claude Giroux would regain the lead for his team minutes later. After Del Zotto found Giroux with a pass in the neutral zone, the young captain would turn on the jets and get by both Avalanche defenders to go in all alone on Varlamov and Giroux didn't squander his opportunity as he found the back of the net.

Giroux took a bad penalty 4 minutes later as he took down Brad Stuart after sliding into him while trying to block Stuart's shot. Gabriel Landeskog would make it count as he fired a laser past Mason off a Nathan MacKinnon pass to tie the game at two. The teams would trade chances back and forth for the remainder of the third period, but no one found the twine.

Overtime was much of the same until Claude Giroux would find the puck on his stick behind the Avs net and get it to an open Jake Voracek for the game winner.

Flyers Complete Trade with Nashville

GM Ron Hextall announced that RJ Umberger and Nicklas Grossmann have been traded to the Nashville Predators for Paul Gaustad and Victor Bartley. "Grossmann was a healthy scratch and RJ wanted more time, so both waived their NTCs to go to Nashville." GM Hextall told media. Gaustad will help out the third line of Lecavalier and Raffl along with giving the Flyers an excellent penalty killer, while Bartley gives the Flyers depth on the backline and cap space for the future.

Red Hot Capitals Dominate Flyers in Washington

*Late Night, forgot to record end game and take a screenshot, so here's a picture of a crazed Caps fan*

Despite keeping Alexander Ovechkin off the scoresheet the Flyers still fell to the Washington Capitals 5-2 last night at the Verizon center. The Capitals came into the game going 8-1-1 in the last 10 and it showed as they made the Flyer pay on every mistake. Nicklas Backstrom started things off 8 minutes into the 1st when he was tripped up on a breakaway and received a penalty shot. Backstrom froze Mason with a few dekes before sending it five-hole to give the Caps a 1-0 lead. There wouldn't be any goals scored until the 17 minute mark of the 2nd when Marcus Johansson would score a powerplay goal before Voracek would get one back to make it 2-1 going into the third period.

Wayne Simmonds would tie the game early in the third period and then the wheels came off for the Flyers. Jay Beagle would score on a goal that Steve Mason would like back, before an ill-timed change resulted in a 2-on-1 down low that saw Brooks Laich putting the puck in the net. The Flyers turned up the pressure and Claude Giroux would draw the 2nd Penalty Shot of the game, but Holtby was up to the challenge and got a piece of the shot with his blocker. Jason Chimera would score an empty netter to seal the deal and continue the Capitals winning ways.
