Hockey? Prototype Offers A Free First-Person, Physics Based Game on PC

Are you tired of playing hockey games where the puck seems superglued onto skaters' sticks? Have you ever wished that stick handling and shooting required more skill than simply touching one button? Do you dislike how easy overhead cameras have made it to pinpoint open passing and shooting lanes? Are you bored of dominating simplistic AI that never adjusts to your tactics and follows the same easy-to-beat routines every single shift? If so, you should try Hockey?, a free multiplayer-only PC game created by Cryptic Sea.

This is an extremely fun game, but very hard at first. Don't give up if you are having a hard time, some people might get mad at you if you mess up or if you just puck chase, but don't get down about it. Everybody has to start somewhere. If you see me online playing and need help feel free to ask and I will help you out.

" I couldn't find any community creations to improve the blank player faces or the super blocky hockey sticks, but enhancements to those items will likely come over time."

Hockey Sticks aren't possible because it's generated in-game, not a separate model. Faces however can be found here. (There's also a redone body model that lets you use textures from the NHL games)

First Person Sports is where I think sports titles are going. Obviously its a ways off from being realistic graphically, but I believe the next huge sports title will be 1st person.

An indie has to start somewhere. If people want alternatives as much as they claim, they have to support something at some point and help something grow.

It's just a fun attempt at making something that vaguely resembles hockey. It's not like they're touting it as the NHL15 Killer.
Not to mention, plenty of great games that we think of among the best of their genre started as mods or add ons to more popular games. Innovation has to start someplace.

At least it has an "EASHL" mode.

Until there is a single player, offline, franchise mode (and that certainly appears a long way off, if ever), I don't have much interest.

Wow, this is so cool! Possible great start of something great with modding community involved? Fingers crossed and full support from all my channels!

I've tried it. It is fun. Difficult but really pretty cool. I had said in another thread that I was going to have a few of my students hop in the lab and try it. I had 2 the other day and they had a ball.

Hoping the Wednesday half day before Thanksgiving will be a 3 on 3 in the lab. The 2 kids that tried the other day loved it. Good stuff.
