    The Detroit Red Wings (NHL15)

A Detroit Red Wings Dynasty Attempt

    Team: Detroit Red Wings
    Game: NHL15
    System: PS4
    Sliders: Custom
    Rosters: Most Recent Update

    Team Overview

The Forward Lineup- Detroit has some quality talent among their forwards with superstars Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg. Detroit has quite a few veteran players in their forward roster including Johan Franzen, Darren Helm, and Stephen Weiss, as well as many budding stars such as Tomas Jurco, Tomas Tatar, and Gustav Nyquist. The Red Wings 2012 First Round Pick, Anthony Mantha, is coming along nicely and looks to be a stud in future years. This forward lineup has the skill in their top six and the grit and sandpaper in their bottom six that enables them to be a playoff team consistently.

The Defensive Pairings- Detroit is not a pure offensive team. Despite superstar Nick Lidstrom retiring from the team a few years ago, the Wings still have great defensive depth and talent. Led by veteran Nicklas Kronwall and Jonathan Ericsson, the Wings boast a great defensive squad that can chip in with the odd point. Brendan Smith and Danny Dekeyser are great young Defensemen that Detroit can build around for the future as well as top prospect Xavier Quellet. Detroit's only problem on the back end is their lack of right-handed shots, a problem that may have to be addressed.

The Goaltending Situation- Detroit didn't know what to expect when they signed Jonas Gustavsson last year. Now they know they have a solid backup goaltender for starter Jimmy Howard, as Gustavsson has proved himself to be a great addition to their team. Jimmy Howard is as steady as always, and is looking to have another good year after inking himself a six year, 32 million dollar contract, last year. Going forward the Red Wings will be in good hands with developing youngsters Jake Paterson and Petr Mrazek.

Season Outlook: If Zetterberg and Datsyuk stay healthy and goaltender Jimmy Howard has another good season, there is no reason why the Red Wings shouldn't make the playoffs this year. Look for Zetterberg and Datsyuk to slow down a bit this year and for Detroit's youngsters to take an increase in ice time this year. If Detroit can maintain a healthy lineup this year look for them to be able to compete for second or third in their division under Ken Holland's and Mike Babcock's tutelage.

Editor's Note: Hey guys, this is my first dynasty attempt and it will be with my favourite team the Detroit Red Wings. Feedback would be appreciated throughout the dynasty. Will try to get the season up and started tomorrow or Monday. Pretty busy with school so posts may not be as frequent as I would like, but try to stay following! Thanks, TheKid40

LOL I know the intense rivalry between siblings as I am a Detroit fan and my brother is a Bruins fan! I'm hoping to get an update in tonight with the roster and opening lineups for our first game against the Bruins! As far as the aging stars go, I won't reveal too much yet

Game Notes- Wow, not quite the way we wanted to open our season, especially on home ice. All things considered, it took the Wings a while to get going after the long offseason in game one. The Bruins are undoubtedly a tough opponent and I thought our team fared well in our first game. Nice to have some depth goal scoring from Andersson and the fourth line, and Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Nyquist have insane chemistry. They scored a beauty tic-tac-toe powerplay marker. Look for Howard to bounce back next game, as this wasn't his best performance. Now to go get a win!

Game Notes- Two words: Jimmy Howard. Howard was incredible tonight and put on a clinic, keeping Anaheim shooters at bay. This was exactly the kind of performance the Wings needed to pull out a win in the Joe Louis arena. Kesler finally managed to beat Howard in second period action when he ripped a shot from the slot past Howard's glove, but luckily Nyquist managed to tie it up with just 3 minutes left in the second period when he grabbed Jakub Kindl's rebound and fired it past an outstretched Andersen. The Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Nyquist line is absolute money, as they've scored two big goals for me over the past two games. Anderson was outstanding for Anaheim and stopped many quality scoring chances against the Wings. Getzlaf had a chance in the final seconds of the second period when he had a breakaway against Howard, but Howard shut the door, allowing us to enter the third period tied. Drew Miller potted the go-ahead goal and the eventual game winner when he found the puck in a scrum around the crease and beat Andersen. Honestly, Howard was the whole reason we won this game; he was incredible. Hands down the best performance any of my goalies have played for me in the NHL series. Well done Howard.

Game Notes- The Bruins are a tough team to beat. We go up 2-1 in the Second Period when Kyle Quincy buries a slapshot from the point on Svedberg, but the Bruins just don't have the word 'quit' in their dictionary and they score 3 unanswered goals in the third period to grab a huge two points. The only way we are ever going to be able to beat the Bruins is if our big guns come to play, and today Zetterberg, Datsyuk, and Nyquist were a disappointment. Our defense definitely broke down in the third period, and we can't blame this one on Howard. Hopefully we can win our next game to get our record back to .500.

                          Record: 1-2-0

@Braeden it's those damn Bruins. Hopefully Datsyuk and Zetterberg pick it up and the team can grab some wins!
