    Re: NHL Community Committee

I think this puts the final nail in the coffin for any hopes posters had for this series. They just don't listen to OS on anything. All the years of detailed posts, wishlists, CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, scientific breakdown, etc. They don't care. So 2 guys with an overall of 0 and another one who joined around the same time are the best choices for this? Fiddy or Bigwill don't play enough EASHL to be considered? Instead it's the same old youtube guys.

I guess the vote was just to get people on a positive note about the game next year. What happens when there's minimal changes and the latest mode is "coach" mode where you're watching a full game that doesn't call penalties correctly, pucks still going through sticks, levitating goalies and no neutral zone pressure.

It's sad but I'm really enjoying this years game. Even when my 2 defenseman chase the puck behind the net and the AI leaves a guy wide open back door because my forwards are all still on the point.

      Re: NHL Community Committee

I'm sure it is going to get deleted, but here's what I posted on the EA forums under the topic.

AFAIK, there's only 4 hardcore EASHL guys on OS. 2 didn't apply, but guys that don't post at OS apply and win? How was that even fair? I'd rather no one from OS goes than some guys who have a dozen posts win. That's just insulting to the community at OS on top of all the times our well thought out wishlists and gameplay concerns get ignored. But we get new HUT cards, we get pucks flying 20 feet in the air and another year of no neutral zone pressure. We're all adults on OS and if no one met your criteria just say that instead of sending 2 guys that might not have made it if they didn't apply at OS. Then again communication and EA Canada seem mutually exclusive.

I thought the main focus for this committee was for EASHL. If this was a gameplay committee he is a slam dunk, however it clearly isn't.

SensFan101-"I feel like I would be most helpful in terms of the presentation of EASHL."
Hmm I don't think Presentation is focused on in the committee. Maybe if their wasn't a presentation team they would hire him.

Oohwayy-"In my opinion, 6 vs 6 in EASHL is as close as it gets to simulating a real life experience to the great game of hockey."
I couldn't find any fault with his application. I like that he knows 6v6 in EASHL is the real way to play. Congrats on being selected.

Simple Mathematics-"I feel that other members of our OS community would have more constructive input than I would. Diehard EASHL fans should be the ones considered here."
Pretty much saying "I don't have constructive input. Don't put me in the vote." Why apply then?

target audience 18-"NHL 15 revolutionized the way the game behaved."
        It definitely revolutionized game sales.

        actionhank-"I've never played EASHL, unfortunately."
LOL so why apply for the EASHL Committee.

Deanstupidhead-"My favourite part of EASHL is playing with my buddy as he is in another city. Nobody can cycle the puck like us, so because of this we hate playing EASHL. We don't like to play with any other people."
Bragging that he is good at 2s. What an accomplishment!

mikeymayhem-"I haven't spent a awful lot of time playing in the EASHL"
Once again it's a EASHL committee. He had a good chance of making through based on the people that applied.

snc237-"I would especially like to talk about is gameplay in relation to user interaction and A.I."
        The focus isn't on gameplay...

Pezell04x-"I think I could really help in the gameplay aspect of the mode."
        See above.

TNKNGM-"I don't play EASHL - I focus on franchise versus the CPU opponent with everything aimed towards realistic feel and stats."
YOU DONT PLAY EASHL? WHY APPLY THEN?

utp102-"I know there is an audience out there for some competitive 6v6 hockey."
Recognizes that there is lots of people who want to play competitive 6's. Congrats.

bwiggy33-" I haven't played EASHL much the past few years. I would like to directly influence the AI and Be A GM."
        EASHL committee

TacTixHD-"The part of the mode I would like to directly influence is the customization in EASHL."
Hard to find anything wrong with his application other then he wanted to focus on EASHL customization which I dont view as a high priority.

Calgaryflames82-"The game modes I would like to have influence over is GM mode and Be a Pro (or live the life)."

        tbayjordan-"I haven't played much EASHL"

drog1602-Not enough detail to quote anything.
If he had some more detail in his application he might of had a chance.

FBeaule04-"I would like to have a say on AI and the way the game plays overall."
        Gameplay

Basically Oohwayy and utp102 were the best candidates. The community did well voting them in. TacTixHD wouldn't have been a bad candidate either. I like the selections made.
I didn't apply. I just don't like that people who are actually in our community aren't going to be represented. The reason I was put on EA's poll is probably because everyone "liked" my response and people kept saying they want Bigwill and a Revamped guy. I took this as a huge compliment from the OS community and a sign that they appreciate my and the revamped team's work.

I just feel bad for the OS community that we won't be represented well. And like I said in my response, if there is a meeting about rosters or BaGM, I would love to be a part of it.

          Re: NHL Community Committee

          Wow. Just wow.

First off, before I get into anything here I want to really take a moment and say thank you to everyone on here that thought of me and supported me for this. It does mean a lot that you guys think so highly of myself. I'm not a roster guy or ratings guy, and I am not even really an offline guy. The main reason I thought I would be a good consideration is because I am primarily a club and OTP guy. Logging well over 1000 online games each and every year since the feature was introduced.

That being said, I am not upset that I wasn't chosen. I felt that any one here could have done a pretty good job if they had the opportunity to do so. The biggest thing for me was that OS was going to get to be a voice and really have a chance to make a difference finally. I was excited to be able to let whoever got to go what I felt was needed to start turning this franchise around for the better.

But that really didn't happen as we all know. Nothing against the guys that were chosen because they may be great choices, but we truly have no idea what they are about because they are not a part of our community. It seems as though they joined here specifically for this and with their youtube following were able to get the votes. Smart move on their part and we really can't begrudge them for doing so.

However, what stinks for the rest of us is that now we at OS once again had promises made and something dangled under our noses. We followed and obliged only to get the rawest of deals, yet again.

And there-in lies exactly what is wrong with EA and the NHL team there. I sat back for weeks and watched after this thread was first made. I wanted to see how much follow-up and communication we would have from EA in regards to specifics on this. As usual there was nothing. We had the original post on 11/04 stating the first event would be held in "late November". And we didn't hear another peep until 11/21. Which, in my mind, pretty much is late November. At that time the the "official voting" started. And it wasn't in-house as probably many of expected, but was off-site and with little fanfare or mention of it here at OS.

Now I don't know about the rest of you, but I didn't expect to win. However, seeing how many people liked my entry and how many posters here were mentioning my name I felt that it might be a good idea to perhaps start looking into it. So I did my due diligence and started letting people know that I may have to leave town for a few days. Not sure if EA realizes it, but flying half way across North America on a moment's notice isn't idea for a lot of working people, or family people, or students... or anyone with a life. Not to mention during the holiday season. So bringing this up to bosses and family is kind of a big deal. Securing a passport for an international flight is also a big deal for some and is something that cannot simply be done in a few weeks.

Bottom line, this was handled very poorly, in my opinion. And it doesn't take a trip to Vancouver to say this; This post and its implementation is representative of exactly everything that is currently wrong with EA Vancouver in regards to the NHL series. The poor communication (even changing the date to December with little notice or mention). The lackluster development and organization of the event and program itself. And the horrible implementation of how it all went down with allowing outsiders to come in and take what was being offered to this close knit community. All of this leaves very sour tastes in many of our mouths and is a reflection of your company as a whole. It is almost what we have come to expect and what some of us were actually hoping we could hope to change with a program such as this.

As I already stated, I am not angered or upset in not being the one chosen. I am just downtrodden for this community that it will not have a true voice in the matter. Not a liaison to work between us and the team producing our most beloved of games. And none of this would have really even been a thought in our minds had this post and position not been promised to us, the COMMUNITY at Operation Sports.

bigwill for pres! Don't let up yet, chances are EA will see this well-warranted backlash and as an attempt to re-win our faith will bring on you or Simple or someone. Though, as you stated perfectly above, the mere hope of that is almost pointless with the abysmal communication EA has provided.

Yep, I know I voted for people from the EA forums as well. However, my (and others) main critique is that OS does not seem to be actually represented, only by name. Two people with one post apiece? I'm sure plenty of people voted for them, youtube people, but I feel they may have been better suited to represent a "youtube" committee (if there is something like that).

No offense to them at all, just voicing my opinion.

this is a easy fix that EA has the chance to correct, instead of going by who has the most votes take a look at the poll and pick the top two guys who are actual active members of the OS boards.
All I want out of this is to have someone from are community represent us, these forums are full of passionate hockey fans who love this game and have been playing it for years so I'm sure anyone of the entries would do a great job just please correct this and make sure it is indeed one of us.
This is like having a a guy from china win presidency it just shouldn't go down this way.

I'll say this again: This wasn't an OS poll, it was a Community poll. We are a SMALL NICHE of the internet, not the majority. The same is true in the sales % of the game.

The sooner everyone accepts that, the easier this will be.

I'm a little confused here, Mil. I stated above that I (and I think others) don't think OS is being represented despite being told that we would be represented. What does our SMALL NICHE have to do with anything if we're told that we'd be represented? That small niche should have a voice, I thinkโ€”isn't that what OS is all about? I understand that others vote on this, but I think the chosen "OS Representatives" represent a different part of the NHL gaming community. I'd love to see the chosen people go, but I think a lot of minds would rest easy if a regular OS member was given a chance as well.

                      My thoughts.

Maybe instead of bashing us you can give us some ideas that you would like us to convey. Thanks again. UTP

Thanks for posting. Glad we can give you input. I think I explained myself and wasn't bashing you, but I'm more than willing to drop it.

I think it would be awesome to be able to develop your own style of goalie. As one myself, I think it would add a lot to the position and induce more people to give it a go.

I'd also love 3-on-3 hockey with a goalie. Unranked of course, just a little rink thing (I think NHL 2k10 had something similar offline?) to have fun when your teammates aren't on and you want to blow off some steam as it were before gearing up for a 6 vs. 6 sim-tailored game.

I'll post more ideas when I think of them. Perhaps you would be so kind to set up a thread for this purpose?

EDIT: "Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war?" Seems like it. Ha ha.

I don't want to get into any trouble for this because I've been on this board for a while, love it and I'm not trying to troll. Here is my main problems with the way the guys got voted in. As it was presented to us, there would be representatives from OS and EA forums. That would not mean the whole community would be involved, just those communities. I'm not doubting Ooohway and utp are great players, but they're signed up here and not part of our community. I don't mean any disrespect and I'm in no way bitter at them for how it turned out.

I'm bitter about how this was handled. It seemed like these 2 guys came in and got the vote over people that represent OS very well. We have lots of passionate posters on here and sometimes that passion overspilled into ways and areas it shouldn't have. This is the first year devs have been back on here in a while. I appreciate that, it made me feel like we had a voice.

Then this vote happens and although we don't have a huge EASHL following, we have guys who could shape the game in a positive way. They don't get the vote but instead it's given to two guys who most people here do not know exist. In the voting section it even split the guys into two categories, leading me to believe that the guys would be from OS. I just wish EAC had handled this better. I would rather have no voice at all than dangling this carrot in front of me that people I read and converse with could have an impact on the game I love so much. I'm starting to learn that communication with EAC is non-existent. It's like writing a congressman, they'll say enough to get your vote then not bother listening until they want something else.

Good luck to Ooohway and Utp. I've seen Ooohway's videos and I'd much rather have him from the youtube side of things than others. I don't know much about Utp, but please help them fix the defense.

well Oohwayy and UTP103 you guys are new around this part of the internet I see, I'd like to take this second to congratulate you guys on joining the nhl community team and hope you guys have nothing but success while doing so.
Now I'm going to take a fatherly approach here... think of it as a what are your intentions with my daughter type talk HAHA

So we dont know much about you guys, where did you come from? what do you do? and what are your goals for this series?

Since you guys where voted in as OPERATIONSPORTS nhl community member do you guys have any intentions in sticking around and working with all of us? I think what really upset most people about this is that we seen this as a key moment to actually have are thoughts heard and now we are more or less worried that we don't get that chance now.

Anyways guys the balls in your court and its your time to shine, welcome to OS.

                                Re: NHL Community Committee

I understand where you all are coming from. I would probably be frustrated too. However I urge you to think where we came from too, if you want to put it that way.
*Before I go off on a ramble of thoughts, know that UTP and I aren't forum posters or blog posters or anything special, so this forum post might come off as unprofessional or goofy.

Some of you mentioned us coming from a "YouTube Community". I'm sure if you are the slightest bit familiar with EA Sports NHL YouTube Content, that you know it is 95% dominated by HUT videos - most of them being pack openings.
I think whether we made the vote from the EA Forums site or the OS site, we would have received criticism. As stated before, we simply play the game (a lot) and don't necessarily type about it. Instead, I (and I'm sure I can speak for UTP too) would rather make a video or something to express my thoughts/opinions/ideas. We both posted our application answers to each of the forums, and if we had made it from the EA Forum side those dedicated forum posters would probably be upset with us too (for good reason).
Furthermore, I highly doubt that EA chose us to be a part of the vote because of our YouTube reputations (Side note, UTP and I don't even have the greatest rep anyways lol). If EA was choosing based off subscriber count, they would have looked at bigger YouTubers applying to this, such as TargetAudience18 or TacTixHD, both at about 15K and 21K subscribers respectively. UTP and I currently sit at 4K and 2.5K, most of which are "dead" subscribers because we are not the most active YouTubers either (mainly because no EASHL on next-gen).

I personally believe that I am one of the better dmen in the game and that UTP is also an exceptional winger. We both have played our fair share of games and have generated our own ideas/thoughts as to how it can be improved.

From reading your forum posts, I know you all are irritated with EA Sports just like how I think we've all been for a long time. I figured I should apply to both forums for twice the chance to be picked, as any reasonable person would probably do. Hopefully you guys can understand where we're coming from (although I probably wasn't very clear anyways) and we'll try to understand where you guys are coming from!
If we combine the ideas from OS that you have, as well as our own personal ideas with your YouTube subscribers' ideas along with leaguegaming 's LGHL 6v6 league I'm a part of, I'm sure we can generate some great things for EA to consider for the future of EASHL.

Not really sure what I'm trying to say here to be honest with you all.
For future purposes, it is best to contact me on twitter @ TheOohwayy as I'll get a notification right away on my phone. I'll try to come on the OS forums more often too!
