Bringing Hope to a Dying Franchise - An Oakland Raiders Franchise (Madden 15)

Here I am as the new Team Builder-style Head Coach of the Oakland Raiders. A team I grew up watching and loving, a life-long fan through the good times and the bad. I come into this organization after a terrible past decade in which the teams best record was breaking an even 8-8 (2010, 2011).

I bring the Raiders a new approach on both sides of the ball. Dennis Allen's old playbook is nothing special, and I bring in my own 'Scattergun' playbook, which is a West-Coast offense at it's core, with a few extra Spread offenses sprinkled in. Mainly I will be utilizing the running game along with the Short to Medium passes.
    • Offensive Playbook: Scattergun (custom)
    • Defensive Playbook: Pittsburgh - Mike Tomlin (3-4)

I need to work with GM Reggie McKenzie to bring in some fresh talent and upgrade some of our stale positions (most notable positions: RB, WR, RG, RT, CB, FS). We did a great job in the off-season of this season in Free Agency and the Draft signing future superstar Khalil Mack and drafting a potential gold mine in Derek Carr.

    Shared Files!

Just so you all know, I have uploaded my 'Scattergun' playbook to the Community Files.

This Franchise is being played on my custom All-Madden sliders (click here for sliders) that give me some really great, realistic numbers. I have uploaded my Sliders as well (both are entitled 'GP16ALLMADDENREALISTIC')

Re: Bringing Hope to a Dying Franchise - An Oakland Raiders Franchise (Madden 15)

    Pre-Season
    • Coach Allen Fired: Raiders will have a new head coach as they cut ties with Dennis Allen
      • "BREAKING NEWS: Raiders have fired D. Allen" - Chris Mortenson

    Notes

One of the major things I need to do this pre-season is I need to use the Game Prep on improving the Confidence and gaining EXP for top rookies Khalil Mack and Derek Carr.

    Position Battles
QB: This is an interesting matchup for the pre-season as every QB have an equal shot at starting the first game of the year.
    • Schaub: comes in after a dismal season in Houston having been dwindling the last few seasons, but hopefully the change in scenery can reinvigorate this QB and bring him back to where he was 4 years ago

    • McGloin: was the rookie QB to take over for the ill-fated Terrelle Pryor experiment last year and had a decent season. He is unproven (only having played 7 of 16 games last year) but is a good pocket presence and could possibly bloom into a solid QB.

    • Carr: was our 2nd round pick in the last draft and was highly touted after being relatively unknown throughout his college career. He showed great poise in the pocket, an ability to run and put out an amazing combine to show he belonged in the NFL. I like him in my offensive system and will give him a good shot to prove himself in the pre-season.

RB: It is another 3-way battle for the Running Back position. With the Newest (Week 13) Roster Update it is now between Maurice Jones-Drew (76 Overall), Darren McFadden (72 Overall), Latavius Murray (72 Overall).
    • MJD is the starter for now, posing as a better 'bruising' type runner but has been more consistent throughout his career than DMC. Consider him to be more of the Fred Jackson-type of the Raiders.

    • DMC was the Raiders cornerstone when we drafted him in 2008 but has vastly underwhelmed mainly due to his constant being on the injury report. He is definitely the shiftier and faster of the two backs (the C.J. Spiller to our offense) but mainly will be used as a change-of-pace back unless he shows he is a considerable advantage over MJD.

    • Murray is the young gun of the contenders and really has an awesome shot at starting. His overall is the same as DMC's but he has blazing speed, elusiveness and acceleration - hopefully it will translate to big pre-season numbers.

    Pre-Season Games

I simulate every pre-season game, they just aren't worth it to play. I simulate through the weeks with Injuries turned OFF so there aren't any ridiculous injuries that I cannot help with. I will see the stats at the end of the 4th game and make decisions under the Week 1 post, once again under the Coach's Corner.

    Pre-Season Notes

McFadden and Jones-Drew finished with mediocre stats compared to Latavius Murray's great 5.2 YPC throughout the pre-season, on 98 carries. MJD and DMC only finished with carries in the mid-20's but unfortunately could only muster averages of 2.4 and 3.6, respectively. Murray earned the starting job, and McFadden will back him up on a time share, with MJD busting off 3rd Down duties.

The QB Position Battle wasn't even close. The CPU decided that Matt McGloin wasn't even worth using the entire pre-season, and it came down to Matt Schaub vs Derek Carr and Carr won hands down. They both had decent numbers, but Carr's 3 TDs to Schaub's 1 proves him to be the victor. With this settled, I would like to get rid of one of the 2 backup QBs and try and snag a few draft picks for them.

    Trade Block
I have decided to put up a few people onto the Trading Block, see what comes through..
    • Matt Schaub (QB)
    • Matt McGloin (QB)
    • Maurice Jones-Drew (WR)

For Game-Prep this pre-season I have decided to focus on developing XP for Derek Carr, Darren McFadden, The Offensive Line, Khalil Mack, and D.J. Hayden, and maybe use some spare time toward other low-overall starters.

      Week 1
      News / Injuries
      My Stories
      • Freshman Orientation: Darren Sutton will have insanely high expectations with no coaching background.

      Coach's Corner
      Position Battle Winners
      • QB: Derek Carr

      • RB: Running Back By Committee, Starter: Latavius Murray
        • DMC will back up Murray and MJD will get 3rd Down duties until I get an offer for him while he is on the block.

      • RT: Menelik Watson

      Notes
Derek Carr will be leading this offense and hopefully the two-headed attack of Latavius Murray and Darren McFadden can prove to effective.

I am going to try and trade off Matt Schaub or Matt McGloin (preferably Schaub due to his contract) and try and get a few draft picks. MJD has the best break-tackle ability and trucking, so he will be taking on the 3rd Down duties along with and-Short duties where I need to bust through the line on an inside run.

An awesome first game for the new look Raiders. We almost blew a 20 point lead, but thankfully our offense was able to pull through in the clutch and come away with a victory in a crazy 4th quarter that featured 41 points scored.

The Offense was amazing today. Derek Carr had an awesome debut, throwing an impressive 299 yards with 3 TDs and 1 INT. The top two receivers, Rod Streater caught 6 balls for 47 yards and a TD, and James Jones played more of a role receiver, catching 5 balls for 38 yards. Andre Holmes had an awesome day catching 3 balls for 63 yards and Denarius Moore had a chance at catching 2 balls for 2 scores, but dropped his first target. His second target was on a 2nd down play in which I saw the safeties creeping up when I had a run called; I audibled to a pass play and sent Moore deep on a streak; there wasn't even a chance he was going to get caught. Latavius Murray had a great day shouldering the load for the Raiders, rushing 24 times for 107 yards and 1 TD.

The Defense started off amazing but come around the 4th Quarter, we completely dropped off and started allowing big plays. Geno Smith finished with 258 yards and 2 TDs, but both of his touchdowns were on bogus plays - one was a misread on my part (I called for a Run up the Middle, but it turned out to be a Play-Action pass and Harvin went untouched to the end zone) and the other TD was on a desperation Hail Mary that was tipped by Tarell Brown but still managed to find the hands of Shaq Evans who took it 76 yards to the house. Completely bogus. However, we could NOT stop the run game, Chris Ivory destroyed our defense, carving us up for 130 yards on 18 carries and 2 TDs.

Take away the two long throws and we did an awesome job today, but that 4th Quarter was absolutely bonkers - 41 points total in that final frame, just happy I caught the defense off-guard when I did to seal the game.

A great win to start off my career as an NFL Head Coach, but this is my first real test going against JJ Watt and Jadeveon Clowney and the fearsome Texans Defense.

          Notes
I need to do a better job at stopping the run. I want to go out and get an ILB that can do some damage and I have a trade in mind.

          Trade
Trade Between Oakland Raiders & San Francisco 49ers
          • Raiders Give: Pat Sims (DT - 78 Overall), 2016 2ndRound Pick

          • 49ers Give: Chris Borland (MLB - 82 Overall), 2015 4th Round Pick

The 49ers needed a Defensive Tackle and since I switched to a 3-4 I have no use for two decent DT's and luckily enough the 2nd stringer Pat Sims was a high-value (Green on the color scale) target for the 49ers and I wanted to add in a draft pick for future use; so I went for their 4th Round Pickand to compensate I gave up next years 2nd Round Pick to them.

A great game last week, but I want to see Latavius Murray rush for another 80+ against this awesome defense. He will get 20+ carries, and I am hoping that Derek Carr is able to spread the ball around as well as he did last week against the Jets.

Such a tough loss. We had this game all wrapped up but our defense let off the gas in the final quarter and we absolutely paid for it as Ryan Fitzpatrick tossed 2 beautiful TDs to his star receivers to win the come-from-behind victory for the Texans.

The Offense was pretty bad today.Derek Carr threw 2 bad interceptions to 0 TDs today, and couldn't get any long passes going, while only able to complete 50% of his passes for a meager 181 yards. His main targets were once again Rod Streater and James Jones who caught 4 passes each for 59 and 38 yards respectively. Andre Holmes had another 3 catch, 45 yard performance and while Mychal Rivera was targeted the most times in this game, he dropped 2 passes (including the game-sealing 4th down quick pass that he was wide open on) and was well defended on his other targets, he only finished with 2 catches. Definitely a surprisingly bad performance from the usually-reliable Tight End. Latavius Murray could not continue his big numbers, as I predicted, as he could only get 51 yards on 20 carries, but did manage to score a Touchdown. The Texans front seven was just too much for the Raiders rushing attack.

The Defense started off so strong, but ultimately we fell apart and let the Texans take the game. Ryan Fitzpatrick had a terrible day until the 4th quarter, finishing his day with 198 yards and 2 TDs (both in the 4th). His major target was Arrelious Benn who nabbed a game-high 7 passes for 57 yards, but the two major weapons were Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins who both caught 3 passes for 40 and 36 yards (respectively) with both receivers able to find the end zone. Arian Foster was able to have a decent day on the ground, but ultimately the Raiders were able to hold him to some meager numbers considering he started the game with 10 carries for 60 yards - he finished with 15 for 73.
Our Linebacking core really stepped up today against the superstar running back; Khalil Mack had a breakout performance, throwing down 7 solo tackles with 3 tackles for loss, including 2 sacks. Newly acquired Chris Borland also had 7 tackles with 1 going for a loss, and Sio Moore had 3 tackles with a sack as well.

All in all, thanks to some lacksidasical performances from Tarell Brown and Charles Woodson we gave up some big plays and the Texans definitely took advantage to get the win.

                Week 3
A tough loss at home against the Texans. They were able to expose our offense and prove that the big numbers we achieved against the Jets were simply a fluke and nothing more. I need to do a better job at running the ball and I need to be more precise with my throws - this is not a secondary to take lightly.

                Notes
A tough game last week against the Texans. This week we go into Foxboro to take on Tom Brady and the Patriots. They boast an extremely tough passing defense so I will need to Prep Derek Carr, James Jones, and Rod Streater and boost their confidence before the game so they go in with as much of a boost as possible. Latavius Murray is going to be the game-changer this week; it all comes down to how he handles his carries and if he can bust off a big run.

One thing that really did not make me happy last week was the performance of Tarell Brown. If there is another bad performance from him this week I will have to look into another trade, or possibly dropping a player in favor of a Cornerback.

One thing I need to do, soon, is trade away either Matt McGloin or Matt Schaub for a draft pick. I really need to rebuild this team through the draft, and hope that the young foundation can spark a title run in the next few years.

Just an ugly game today. We really had a great game going in the first half, but once we came back onto the field we turned into a different team and gave up massive chunks of yards through the air to that pretty boy Tom Brady.. Just makes me sick..

The Offense today was pretty bad once again. Derek Carr really showed his rookie insecurities today, throwing 2 INTs (both landing in the breadbasket of Jarrod Mayo covering Mychal Rivera) while only able to throw 210 yards, most coming in garbage time on the final drive in which he threw his only TD of the day, a 2 yard pass to Rod Streater. Streater once again led the team with 8 catches for 70 yards but the big play of the day came on that final drive where Carr hit a wide-open Brice Butler 31 yards downfield on a deep flag route. Latavius Murray once again couldn't get a good game on the ground only rushing for 60 yards on 23 carries, getting bottled up on many occasions and only able to get one run over 10 yards on the day.

The Defense was two different defenses today. In the first half we were all over Tom Brady and smothering the Patriots receivers but once we came back onto the field Tom Brady lit up our defense and finished the day with 347 yards and 4 TDs. His main target was Rob Gronkowski who nabbed 7 balls for 91 yards and 2 TDs, with Julian Edelman netting 60 yards on 2 grabs. Stevan Ridley couldn't get anything going today on the ground, only putting up 22 yards on 8 carries - with his long run being his 13 yard TD run, so take that away and you have a pretty terrible 7 carry, 8 yard performance; however, he was able to make up for his very lackluster rushing performance by nabbing 5 balls through the air for 52 yards and took 1 into the end zone. If there is one thing to take away from this game that is a positive, it is that the Rushing Defense finally stepped up and stuffed the run; but I really need to make a move for a corner who will actually be able to defend the pass.

Why do you keep restarting? Your other one was going fine...This is like the 7th time you're never gonna get anywhere if you keep restarting all the time.

This one was by accident.. I mistakenly uninstalled the game while trying to clear space for some new games, and deleted all the game saves.. couldn't remember the league name / password I used -_-

                      Week 4
A terrible loss last week against the Patriots in Foxboro. Tom Brady absolutely shredded our defense to the tune of 350 yards and 4 TDs, 2 of those going to his big target - the type of reliable receiver I am missing - in Rob Gronkowski. I need to sign someone before the next game that is going to be an immediate ripple effect and start getting us turnovers, especially interceptions for up to this point, we have 0.

                      Notes
Clearly something needs to be done about our lackadaisical secondary. There is no way we are going to be taken seriously in the NFL after giving up an average of 350 passing tards.

                      Free Agent Signing
                      • Jabari Greer - CB, 83 Overall
                        • Contract: 1 Year, $2.00M Salary

This is the best corner available in the Free Agency pool, and one that should allow me to cover my steps when I get beat a faster receiver with his high Speed and Agility ratings coupled with his high Zone & Man Coverages he shouldn't allow too much to the star receiver of the opposing team. With this signing Greer immediately moves into the CB1 role, while the former CB1 Tarell Brown has been demoted to Nickel corner duties - he has given up way too many big ones this season.

                      Game Notes
The Dolphins boast one of the best Run Defenses in football but have a glaring weakness going against the Pass, even though they have one of the better corners in the league in Brent Grimes. This week I will be airing it out for sure - I am expecting big numbers from Carr today.

Hopefully the signing of Jabari Greer will prove to be a smart one, and hopefully he will start to make some turnovers for this defense especially since we only have 3 turnovers on the year, with 0 Interceptions - but we lead the league with 13 sacks.

A tough loss in front of the international crowd in London this week. The Dolphins were led by a ferocious passing attack from Tannehill and were backed up by an extremely untimely interception and great pass coverage.

The Offense was pretty inneffecieint today, but luckily there were some promising things that came from this game. Derek Carr had a solid game, throwing 214 yards and 2 early TDs with 1 very unfortunate interception happening in the 4th Quarter. Mychal Rivera was an absolute monster today, nabbing 7 catches for 111 yards but Rod Streater and James Jones were the ones who found the end zone today. Unfortunately Streater was the other turnover. Latavius Murray was a shining star in this offense today, rushing 16 times for 85 yards but failed to find the end zone. He looked great running through the holes today instead of busting runs to the outside.

The Defense was great today aside for one play that was my fault entirely. On a 2nd and short play I called for a Rush Middle Blitz and sent the house and Tannehill found Mike Wallace all alone in the end zone to put the Dolphins ahead in the 4th Quarter. Tannehill was an absolute monster and was laser focussed, throwing 22 of 26 completions for 256 yards and 2 TDs. Jarvis Landry was his big target today as he caught 4 passes for 79 yards, but Mike Wallace and Brandon Gibson were the ones to find the end zone. Knowshon Moreno had a hell of a day running the ball, rushing for 106 yards on 23 carries and found the end zone once as well.

                        Week 5 - BYE WEEK
Another terrible loss last week, and yet another blown lead by us. Jabari Greer had a decent game last week and proved to be a good signing, only allowing Mike Wallace 3 catches for 42 yards and a TD, but I take full responsibility for the TD as I called for an all-out blitz guessing for an inside run and they threw it over the top for a 20 yard score, so in my mind Wallace finished with 2 catches for 21 yards. Chris Borland is proving to be a great force in the middle getting more and more tackles every game and getting some big stops.

                        Coach's Corner
                        Notes
I needed to make a couple of trades to set up for the draft. There are some major positions that need to be filled and I really think the draft will be able to solidify those positions. My main concerns (scouting will begin next week) are Cornerback, Running Back, Wide Receiver, and Middle Linebacker.

                        Trade
Trade Between Oakland Raiders & New York Jets

                        • Raiders Give: Matt McGloin (QB - 74 Overall), 2015 4th Round Pick

                        • Jets Give: 2015 1st Round Pick, 2015 2nd Round Pick

I cannot believe they accepted that offer. I was only sending it out to see how the reaction was going to be (you can usually tell just how much more they need depending on the response you get back) but they accepted it outright. They needed a QB as one of their top needed positions, so Matt McGloin was a high-value target for the Jets and I got 2 high draft picks.

However, I am not done with getting 1st Round Picks. I may need to trade off Maurice Jones-Drew in order to get another pick, but we will see how that goes

                          Week 6
While it may have been a bye week for the Raiders players, it definitely was all hands on deck for the front office. I made a trade and a Free Agent signing to bolster our draft pick stock - and now I am sitting on 6 picks within the first 2 rounds with a very good looking draft class - I believe I can rebuild those few positions I really need (CB, RB, WR, TE, MLB) with this class and those first 5 picks and set myself up for a big run next season.

All moves will be posted in the Coach's Corner section below.

                          • Boren vs Umana: Lamanski Boren stonewalls fellow top draft prospect Umana in 17-3 win.
                            • "After that performance, Boren may have locked up the #1 Overall pick in this years draft" - Matt Miller

                          • Identity Crisis: Scouts are souring on Wisconsin QB Savon Hester, citing inconsistent week to week play.
                            • "Too much inconsistency being shown from Savon Hester to make him worth a high round pick. Late round project at best." - Matt Miller

                          Scouted Players
                          • Kian McClain - WR (21 - 6'1", 210lbs) -- Projected: 1st Round, #4
                            • A-Ratings: Speed, Acceleration, Jumping, Elusiveness
                            • B-Ratings: Catching, Spec Catch, Release, BC Vision
                            • C-Ratings: Cth in Traffic, Rte Running

This guy looks pretty great as a receiver. I would like a taller receiver, but this guy has al the makings of being one of the best (if not the) best WR in the draft..
                          • Yakov Ramsey - RB (20 - 6'0", 235lbs) -- Projected: 1st Round, #24
                            • A-Ratings: Acceleration
                            • B-Ratings: Speed, Trucking,
                            • C-Ratings: Awareness, Spin Move
                            • D-Ratings: Elusiveness, Carrying, Catching, Cth in Traffic

This guy is a complete sham! I was so suprised when I scouted his stats; he has not one redeeming quality to him - and for a Power Back I definitely need a little more than a B-Rating for Trucking and having a D in Carrying really isn't a reassuring quality in a Running Back.. He's at the bottom of my list.
                          • Savon Hester - RB (24 - 6'1", 246lbs) -- Projected: 2nd Round, #27
                            • A-Ratings: Acceleration
                            • B-Ratings: Speed, Trucking, Agility, BC Vision
                            • C-Ratings: Catching, Carrying,
                            • D-Ratings: Cth in Traffic, Awareness, Elusiveness

Not a great prospect, but honestly he is so much better than Yakov and we get to hold off on picking an RB and focus on other, higher-priority positions.

                          • Dominic Martinez - CB (23 - 5'10", 193lbs) -- Projected: 1st Round, #13
                            • A-Ratings: Speed, Acceleration, Jumping,
                            • B-Ratings: Zone Coverage, Man Coverage
                            • C-Ratings: Press, Awareness
                            • D-Ratings: Play Recognition, Pursuit

A very solid Corner with some good coverage skills. He will be a top target for me in the draft.

                          • Marco Ellison - CB (24 - 6'1", 195lbs) -- Projected: 1st Round, #16
                            • A-Ratings: Speed, Acceleration, Jumping,
                            • B-Ratings: Zone Coverage, Man Coverage, Press
                            • C-Ratings: Pursuit, Awareness
                            • D-Ratings: Play Recognition

Well, Marco is even better than Dominic Martinez and is lower on the Big Board than him; the PMVA's I scouted show a better corner all-around and he has the height advantage over Dominic as well.
                          • Jaxon Adams - LOLB (22 - 6'4", 241lbs) -- Projected: 1st Round, #2
                            • A-Ratings: Pursuit
                            • B-Ratings: Speed, Tackle, Block Shedding, Pwr Moves,

I am NOT looking for a LOLB, Khalil Mack is the cornerstone of this franchise; but I figure I should look at the top ranked Linebackers and change their position to MLB in the off-season. Jaxon has decent skills, but not worth the #2 tag in my opinion.
                          • Ivan Hopkins - LOLB (24 - 6'3", 241lbs) -- Projected: 1st Round, #8

A little better of a prospect than Jaxon, and is a better coverage linebacker than him. In the next few weeks I will look at Middle Linebackers and see if there are better prospects who actually play the position.

I signed Brady Quinn as my backup for Derek Carr just because he fits into my system perfectly, as he specializes in Power Run offenses and is a Strong Arm QB - while he might not be the most accurate, all I need him to do is hand off the ball and make short - to - medium throws

The Chargers are one of our most hated rivals and boast one of the best records in the NFL right now. They also prove to be one of the most prolific offenses in football with one of the tightest rushing defenses around. I need to be on my best game this week if I want to win.

An awesome game this week. I can't believe we were the ones to stop the Chargers dead in their tracks and completely shake up one of the, if not the, best team of the NFL up to now.

The Offense was absolutely amazing today - damn near perfect take away the 2 Interceptions. Derek Carr had his best game of his young career, throwing 25 of 36 completions for an unheard of 366 yards and 3 TDs, but did have 2 first half INTs. He looked absolutely Peyton Manning-esque on some of his throws, especially his laser-focus passes to Denarius Moore and Mychal Rivera. Rivera was the prime target today, getting called upon 7 times for 94 yards and 2 TDs on the day. Rod Streater had 4 catches for 53, but the surprising player of today was Denarius Moore who nabbed 3 receptions for 77 yards - all of them coming on one drive, one of which was on a 3rd and 30. Carr was sacked 4 times today, but showed great resolve in the pocket. Latavius Murray had his day ended a early in the 3rd Quarter, spraining his PCL and would not return to the game - finishing with 64 yards on 12 carries, adding 4 catches for 27 yards. Darren McFadden came in relief and had a good day on the ground, rushing for 61 yards on 14 carries and did find the end zone once as well.

The Defense shined today against this prolific offense. Philip Rivers could not keep calm in the pocket today as he was contantly under pressure and was sacked 9 times, 4 alone from Justin Tuck who left the game early due to injury. Rivers ended the day with a pretty bad slashline of 21/33 for 165 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT - our first of the year courtesy of newly acquired Jabari Greer. The only receivers that made any contribution to the Chargers were Ryan Mathews who had 6 catches for 34 yards, and Keenan Allen who had 5 grabs for 63 yards. Mathews also was able to rush for a good chunk of yards as well, adding 74 yards rushing on just 11 carries. However, thanks to the amazing play from our defense he couldn't break off any huge runs nor could he find the end zone from inside the 10 yard line and was stuffed on 5 consecutive plays before the Chargers found Dorin Dickerson in the flat for a TD on a play action pass on 3rd and Goal from the 1.

Surprisingly enough, we came into this game huge underdogs going against the 5-0 Chargers but came out with a victory. In the game, Latavius Murray went down with an injury but lucky enough he only missed the rest of that game - no extended time.

                            Notes
Derek Carr had a great game last week and I am hoping that continues. Mychal Rivera is showing that he can be one of the premier Tight Ends in the NFL and I am going to continue to feed him the ball. He is 2nd on the team in receptions but leads the team in yards. Latavius Murray needs to get a little better but is showing off a pretty good 3.9 YPC with McFadden backing him up and busting off a particularly good 4.6 average.

Extremely close stats going into this game - Mediocre offenses battling top tier defenses. The Cardinals are a little better defensively, but we have the advantage offensively, hopefully Derek Carr can continue the greatness from last week and really lock himself in as the top rookie QB.

What a game!! Amazing job by this defense inside the red zone. Sure, we gave up tons of passing yards to ex-Raider Carson Palmer, but we held them to just 2 scores on 5 trips to red zone.

The Offense today was hindered early thanks to a Derek Carr injury but Brady Quinn had a hell of a performance in backup, throwing 24 of 34 completions for 228 yards and 2 TDs. The most faithful receiver on this team is clearly Mychal Rivera and he had a career day today, nabbing 10 catches for 129 yards and a TD - the other TD went to James Jones who had another solid outing; catching 5 balls for 49 yards. Latavius Murray broke out today, busting for 105 yards on 22 carries but failed to find the end zone. Maurice Jones-Drew looked really good on his carries today, netting 43 yards on just 5 carries and was a major contributor to our 3rd Down conversions.

The Defense today was very good in the fist half, but once again let up in the 2nd - allowing Carson Palmer to throw for 367 yards and a TD, but we did manage to secure our 2nd interception of the season with Jabari Greer nabbing a 3rd Quarter pass to Larry Fitzgerald, he is definitely proving his worth after signing him a few weeks ago. Palmer was not having a great day until the 2nd half when he hit Jonathan Dwyer for a 60 yard gain and then capped off the drive with an Andre Ellington scamper for the score. Palmertop 2 targets were Michael Floyd who had 6 catches for 53 and a TD and Larry Fitzgerald had 4 grabs for 98 yards. Andre Elligton was under-utilized today rushing for 72 yards on 14 carries and 1 TD but should have been used a LOT more to tear apart my defense, but thankfully the game went as it did and we won the game.

The real competition came down to the special teams. Sebastian Janikowski hit 5 Field Goals (on 6 attempts) and Chandler Catanzaro went a perfect 4 for 4.

                              Week 8
Another big win last week at home against the Arizona Cardinals. Derek Carr got injured last week and will miss significant time but backup Brady Quinn looked as good as he did in college playing in relief. Hopefully that continues, but my gameplan has changed a little bit; mostly will be handing the ball off and hope Latavius Murray busts another big game off.

                              Scouted Players
                              • Morgan Hickman - WR (21 - 6'3", 204lbs) -- Projected: 1st Round #11
                                • A-Ratings: Speed, Acceleration, Jumping, Catching, Release, Elusiveness, Carrying, Juke Move
                                • B-Ratings: Catch in Traffic, Spectacular Catch
                                • C-Ratings: Route Running, Stiff Arm

This guy is the Real Deal. Holy hell I have never seen a prospect with as many A-Ratings as Hickman. He is clearly the top pick for me for the WR position. I may even need to trade off a player and a late-1st round pick to a terrible team in order to secure Hickman in the draft.

                              Game Notes
The Browns come into this game boasting one of the worst offenses but one of the most threatening defenses in the NFL. I will have to tailor my gameplan around the fact that Joe Haden and company stifle the passing attack of any team, and with Brady Quinn under center (even after a solid performance last week) I am reassuring my stance to run the ball constantly. I am hoping Latavius Murray can have a big day again, but regardless he will be getting 25+ carries today.

An absolutely tough loss this week, and this entire game was a game of the invisible defenses.

The Offense today was awesome. We ran the ball extremely well and managed to rack up 38 minutes of offensive play time, but the Browns #2 Defense really locked down when we got inside the red zone, holding our offense to just 1 TD on 5 Red Zone trips. Brady Quinn once again had a solid outing at QB but could not repeat his performance from last week, failing to find the end zone - but did manage 227 yards but on a terrible 22 of 40 passing. His big target once again was Mychal Rivera who made the most of his catches, going for 62 yards on just 3 carries, and Rod Streater who caught a team-high 4 catches for 47 yards. Latavius Murray was the absolute workhorse today, busting off 28 carries for 116 yards. We were able to run the ball a total of 47 times - and had a total of 87 offensive plays thanks to two early INTs from Manziel and the first drive of the game was a masterful 10 minute drive but resulted in a red-zone FG.

The Defense today was once again good in the 1st half and terrible in the 2nd. In the first half we did give up the big 70 yard Josh Gordon touchdown, but that was due to my bad guess of calling for a Rush up the Middle and they ran a Play Action and Gordon (2 catches, 80 yards, 1 TD) was open by about 25 yards. However, Johnny Manziel began the game rather poorly, throwing for 2 INTs in the first half - both to Tyvon Branch which doubles our season total for INTs on the season. Manziel finished the day with a below-average stat line 13 of 23 throwing for 203 yards, 1 TD and 2 INTs but was able to make up for his horrendous throwing by scrambling 7 tnimes for 92 yards. Terrance West was able to mangle our defense and ran wild for 104 yards on just 17 carries and also found the end zone. Our rush defense just was not there today and it really showed.
