Microsoft and Sony online service under attack by hackers!

Hackers don't take a holiday, it seems.

Hours after Microsoft’s Xbox Live went down Wednesday, Sony’s PlayStation Network went down, too. The service is now back. PlayStation Network and Xbox Live are how PlayStation and Xbox owners play online games.

Like the earlier incident, the notorious hacker group “Lizard Squad” is claiming responsibility for taking down PlayStation Network on Twitter, saying it has downed both networks with DDoS attacks — basically, intentionally overloading servers by sending a flood of bogus web traffic.

Sony’s “AskPlayStation” Twitter account has acknowledged the service issue, but has not stated whether or not it’s the result of a DDoS attack.

“Lizard Squad” issued a threat last week that it would take down the PlayStation and Xbox Live networks over Christmas. Another hacker gang, called “The Finest Squad,” had apparently exposed several Lizard Squad identities online, and it also learned that Lizard was taking the big game networks using DDoS attacks.

Pretty sad when one's main goal is to ruin or attempt to ruin such a "Special Day" in so many homes across the world. Sad on so many levels.

Bought my 13 and 11 year old sons a PS4 and they can't even get into a few online games. Can't tell you the HYPE they had last night when they opened up one of the gifts and saw the PS4 only to set it up and they can't even get online. Which is what they do most is play online.

I don't wish any bad or negativity on anyone but DAMN KARMA is a mutha!!!

Out of all days they choose Christmas and ruining it for all the kids who just got their new consoles and are excited to go online. These hackers need to get laid.

I've been following this since last night on twitter and is it just me but "finest squad" appears just as sketchy or even more so than "lizard squad"

If our government will have balls like these hackers and punished them to the full extent of the law and not just a slap on the wrist, these genious-but-stupid people will stop.

Throw them to jail for 5 years, 1 year solitary confinement and a bail set to $10M. See if they will still have the joy in doing this.

This is so annoying. Received a few MSFT points for the holidays and decided to buy Halo MCC but can't sign in. I think I got in before Xbox live went down since I was able to purchase the game this morning and it started to download. Slow as molasses but it is still going. Right now at 98% . I can't sign into Live so I wont even bother to start it up until live is back.

Also want to get in on some GTA 5 online action with a few guys from OS again since I have plenty of time today but unfortunately I can't.

This downtime did give me and my wife the opportunity to watch "The Interview" on Google play though

Hoping Live and PSN get restored soon.

This is what happens whenever a kid has mommy and daddy issues and wants to ruin other people's day too.

I expected this, but only because they said they were going to do this weeks ago.
