    Dunking In The Post?

So I've been playing with teams that have power 4s and 5s, most recently the Kings with Demarcus Cousins and I was able to develop his strength and standing dunk a bit more. However, I'm struggling a bit with dunking in the post like I've seen in gameplay videos or similar to a Shaq highlight video.

I engage + back down defenders in the post but can never seem to get the jump on them to dunk the ball no matter who I'm playing as - it's always a baseline drive hook shoot or a straight back down hook shot, once in a while I'll get a dunk but that mainly comes off of passes where the defender over commits and I get a free lane.

Does anyone have any strategies for pulling off dunks with big men in the post?

    Re: Dunking In The Post?

The last two years, I have no idea what's happened to dunking. I cannot ever get players to dunk unless they're already moving. Big men simply REFUSE to dunk when they're under the hoop. And certainly never while in the post. I do not understand it.

In order to lower PIP & keep FG%'s close to real life. The sliders have been adjusted to keep standing dunks from happening frequently. So even if you make good moves in the post, don't expect to shoot over 60% in the low block. Only time I dunk is in the high post & having a little momentum built, the low post is always a no go.

If you adjust sliders it could happen.

I could use post spin to lose my defender for a dunk pre-patch. After the patch 90% of my spin attempts result in a turnover, defender just swipes the ball whenever he is beat and almost always gets hand on the ball.

Raise the dunk sliders. Ive got the attempt dunk and dunk in traffic to 85 and see a really nice mix.

WOW that high? I have been playing with attempt at 65 and I had dunk in traffic at 60 and felt like I was seeing to many dunks over all so I went back down to 55 on the traffic. Even though I think the amount of dunks over all is pretty good with those at 60 and 55 I do agree about dunking in the post. I ever really though about dunks in the post but now that I think about it I don't know if I have seen a single dunk form the post in this game this year.

You see...I don't understand our community sometimes. Some of you guys think dunking in the post is something that's not suppose to happen in basketball. But that's totally bs. He hate some of your SIM standards you guys live by thinking is the only it should be.

Like I just said I think the amount of dunks I see is good but yeah I don't think I have seen a single dunk form in the post though so yeah that is bad and I do wonder if there is a way to get them in the game now that this is being talked about.

Yeah it looks high, but it doesnt play out too high. We probably have slightly different other sliders which balance it out. I see the odd contact dunk, the odd facial etc.

When you say you havent seen a dunk from the post, what do you mean exactly?

                      Re: Dunking In The Post?

I get some nice post dunks when wide open or off of offensive boards with athletic players on occasion. Mostly off of post spins towards the paint though, but nothing like this:

                      <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/ab3_nm3bvrQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

If a player is strong and athletic enough, this should be possible. But clearly it isn't.

What I mean is sometimes in the nba a player when he is posting up he will spin to the baseline for a dunk or back towards the middle and I don't think I have seen any thing like that in the game before. Kind of like the video posted above this post.

Hmm now that you mention it, Im not sure Ive seen one either. The spins are quite slow in any event. I may up quickness and see what happens.

Having said this, I play exclusively with the Cavs and the only dudes I use on the post Ive never tried to dunk from the post. (I usually do fades or stepacks with LeBron, baby hooks and up and unders with Love).

that dunk by cousins is nastyyy !! Wish I could see that in 2k more tho
Yea but not at the cost of seeing every person doing a dunk.

Sorry about my first post in this thread. It just pisses me off watching vets on this site (who basically fought for the current style/sliders. I'm talking about DC and others). But in sacrifice for realism. I love playing with Shaq from the Magic days. And play with him every single year (since he was on the Cavs). Little by little you could see that standing dunk was all but being wiped out. I all loved it. But certain players should be able to standing dunk on any level of the game. Especially Shaq... He is the king of the standing dunk in traffic.

Cousin doesn't standing dunk it much. He not really in the same model of Shaq. But his dunk last night was nasty.

                              I can do it.

Use face up moves, or shoot right as you get the pass in the post and have an angle on the defender. Don't dribble.

Have had some great ones with taj Gibson and he's no boogie.
