Is it possible to have WAR in the game?

I am not sure how WAR is calculated, but I do know it's pretty scientific, takes defense into account, and varies slightly depending on the entity that is calculating it.

My question is, is it possible / realistic for WAR to be included in the game?

Different websites have different formulas for WAR. Unless SCEA gets some kind of partnership with Baseball References or Fangraphs, I doubt we'd ever see it, as much as I would love to have it as well as other advanced metrics such as wRC+, UZR, FIP, etc

I calculate FIP on my own, but WAR is based on the statistical output of all other players around the league so it can't be done manually. Hopefully SCEA gets on board with this.

They did start putting in some advanced stats a couple years ago, but they are really antiquated and unpopular ones.

I'm not a big SABR metrics guy but the one stat I would like to see for hitters in the game is BABiP.

Weird thing is that stat IS in the game, for pitchers.

I'm weary of extensive defensive stat tracking yet, batting and pitching in this game are realistic "enough" but fielding gameplay is not nearly as far in progress. For the fun of things, I give myself a challenge with fielding by turning the catch indicators off and nulling global def. speed and fielder abilities so that makes fielding a whale of fun for me. Even still it's not worth calculating WAR with the fielding issues this game has,

I don't think it is without having to overhaul the sim system to account for UZR, which is still tracked manually by the people over at BIS (which SDS contracted data from ironically). The manual part isn't that important, but what is important is the fact that every batted ball would have to be played out like when you are playing the game yourself. I don't know how complicated/sophisticated the simulation engine is but I don't think it has that kind of depth, otherwise sim games would potentially take several minutes (if not hours). Multiply that by 15 and... yeah...

WAR, what is it good for?

I'd love to see some Inside Edge metrics available.......2k had this years ago......it would be cool to have scouting reports like:

*Buchholz throws 4-seamers mainly on 2-0 counts
*Pedroia won't chase the curve on 2-2 counts

not sure if those examples are REAL but stuff like that
Bummed that you're not on my ignore list yet?.....Don't worry, I'm sure you will be very soon.

There are websites out there that perform very ROUGH calculations for WAR like the link I posted below. Even though it is not as precise, it would be incredible to have something like this in the game. Or maybe there could be a WAR inspired stat called something like "Show Score" which establishes an average performance level and gives a numeric score above or below average.

You can find 2012 league-average OBP and SLG figures adjusted for each MLB team here: How to use the Simple WAR Calculator: 1. Fill in the yellow boxes. 2. That

Possible, yes. But what's probable is a complete unknown. All we can assume is "No", what with SDS' reluctance to include a plethora of stats. And all we can hope for is that the Show is ready to turn the corner with the ps4 & come into the 21st century, stat-wise.

They would have to make some compromises, like "generating" random UZR scores for simmed games, or leaving UZR out of it entirely.

They'd be best off just pursuing other sabermetrics for sure.
