I'm with you ct but I think that 2k editor(which I loved) killed the jersey codes, etc. I think the NBA was really pissed a couple years back when people were able to hack the game and see uniforms, etc before the NBA officially released them. Think that's why 2k is all lockdown/control with NBA content.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

Has anyone from 2K ever clarified over the past couple of years about why exactly new jerseys are roster-locked? I've been wracking my brain thinking about it and I honestly can't figure out the programming caveat of patching in the new jerseys using the same code used for the on-disc jerseys that can be used with any roster.

To extrapolate, for PC versions in the past I remember the file naming system for on-disc team jerseys was simple and made sense, to the point that you could almost guess what jersey each file corresponded to. Then I remember for last year the patched jerseys used a different naming scheme for the file names altogether for some odd reason. Why not just code in placeholder spaces for each team for about 5 or so jersey additions, then if and when a team releases a new jersey and 2K wants to add it in, they name it using the code already on the disc, but now the program can call the file because "if -> then" and all that jazz can run because the file is present.

I can see why this was done last gen, with the jersey's being leaked. Simply put, if the NBA is pissed about what happened, then you eliminate the issue.

I would assume this isn't an issue for the current gen systems though...

I don't like this route 2k has taken, hopefully next year it will be different.

NFL - Dallas Cowboys, MLB - NY Yankees
NBA - Knicks, NHL - NY Rangers,
NCAABB - St. Johns Redmen (Redstorm)
