    Dayton Flyers Legacy (CH 2k8)

The University of Dayton has just announced the hiring of a new men's basketball coach, 28 year old Archie Miller. Miller has no head coaching experience at the college level, but has been an assistant at Western Kentucky, NC State, and Arizona State. He hopes to improve on Dayton's 19-12 finish last season, and will try to get the Flyers to their first NCAA Tournament since 2004.

    Legacy Rules:
Can't recruit international players two years in a row.
    No pep talks.
    All games simulated with Hoopcast.

For the third consecutive game, the Flyers had a great offensive performance, scoring 80 points in a 9 point win at SMU. 8 players scored at least 6 points for Dayton, as the team shared the ball well in the victory. The three point shooting was great (8-14) as it has been all year, as the team is now shooting 51.6% behind the arc.

              Notable Performances:
              Brian Roberts 4-6 (3-5 3pt), 13 points, 4 assists

While the scoring has been balanced in most of Dayton's games this year, that was not the case against rival Miami. Brian Roberts exploded for a season high 24 points, connecting on 5 threes. Only one other Flyer scored in double figures, but it was enough as Dayton once again on the road.

                Notable Performances:
                Brian Roberts 7-13 (5-6 3pt), 24 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block

In front of a sellout crowd at UD Arena, the Dayton Flyers won a very close game against Holy Cross by the score of 63-57. For the first time all season, poor three point shooting was an issue for the Flyers, as they only connected on three for the game. Good rebounding helped Dayton win, as they won the rebounding battle 35-23. Good defense was a major factor, especially the inside presence of Kurt Huelsman, who blocked 4 shots.

                  Notable Performances:
                  Brian Roberts 5-12 (2-4 3pt), 14 points
                  Kurt Huelsman 2-5, 4 points, 10 rebounds, 4 blocks
                  Charles Little 4-6, 10 points, 4 rebounds
                  Thiago Cordeiro 2-3, 7 points, 7 rebounds

                  Recruiting:
Two 3 star recruits signed with Dayton during the early signing period. 5-9 PG Freddie Capel from Indianapolis, Indiana, and 6-6 SF Raheim McGrath from Dubuque, Iowa.

Dayton's red-hot offense returned against High Point as the Flyers scored a season high 84 points. Hot three point shooting was huge as the Flyers shot over 50% once again at 8-15. Key threes down the stretch by Brian Roberts and Marcus Johnson stopped many late runs by High Point, as they were never able to take the lead.

                      Notable Performances:

Dayton played a very close game with Louisville for about 35 minutes, but in the final 5, Louisville dominated in their 17 point victory. Dayton's biggest issue was taking care of the ball, as the Flyers turned the ball over 12 more times than Louisville. Although Louisville is currently unranked, they are still likely a tournament team, and should be one of the top teams in the Big East.

After falling at Louisville last week, Dayton rebounded with a 65-54 win over Coppin State. Brian Roberts had another dominant game, scoring 20 points. Although he was the only big offensive threat for Dayton, the team played very good defense in general, holding Coppin State to just 14 field goals.

American came into the game with only 3 wins on the season, but they certainly played hard enough to steal a win on the road against Dayton. The Flyers held a narrow lead for most of the game, but there were a few moments when the visiting Eagles took control and led. The starting guards for Dayton led the way, as Andres Sandoval and Brian Roberts scored 39 of the team's 65 points.
