Damon Grow or MS needs to step up and squash the rumor before this thing gets out of control and both leave a bad taste to me. This actually would be a resurgence in gaming to me, hasn't been the same without a football game from someone other than EA

Re: Joe Montana Football 16: A Mysterious Game Remains Under Wraps
Regardless of whether this "rumor" turns out to be true or not, I hope the hype around the idea of something like this goes viral. It's a shame this mess with football gaming has gone on this long and the vast majority of entities with the power and/or a voice to change things doing nothing of any consequence.
It's beyond ridiculous the way one company has been allowed to represent NFL football gaming for the past decade and at the very least, hopefully the thirsty reaction of football gamers from a lone post on a sports gaming site, in conjunction with the potential of a new football game being released, will cause influential entities to take notice.Comment

Re: Joe Montana Football 16: A Mysterious Game Remains Under Wraps
I can't tell if it's the tech crunch video you are describing? Your link comes up with various you tube showings.
Recorded on April 19, 2013. Drew Olanoff talks to Joe Montana and Damon Grow and gets a preview of the iMFL Fantasy Football App.
That's the one I go off of- he says Madden doesn't have a lot of competition, something that would be difficult in doing, they dropped the idea at that time, etc...
Who knows, maybe they went back to it, not a lot to go on.
1. Joe's original goal was a console game to compete vs madden.
2. Detailed graphics including sweat pooling and vein dilation on the players, working ticker in stadium, 3500 permutations for fan rendering.
3. Graphic artists whose game credits include Ryse and Forza 2, Xbox one and pc titles.
4. Constant references to 2k and a direct shot at madden. #Not just a roster update.
5. A franchise mode that will be the "soul" of this game.
Compared to that, what info points to this being just a mobile game?Comment

Just read about Microsoft's Universal App Platform on Yahoo tech.
I wonder if this would allow team Montana to use the NFL license to make a tablet game that can take advantage of your pc's hardware?Comment

Re: Joe Montana Football 16: A Mysterious Game Remains Under Wraps
Really intriguing post here on PastaPadre by IownYou:
Joe Montana Football 16 was announced last July simply to make its existence known along with the intent for it to release this coming summer. No information about the game was provided and since then very little has been disseminated. Originally thought to be just a mobile game the developers - or Montana who seems to be running
It pretty much sums up all of the available material evidence that would link back to many of MisterFootballSF's claims. No proof, but certainly some evidence to give examination to.
When you read through, you see a lot of clues that, if it turns out to be accurate, we'll look back and say "wow, how did we miss that!"
Fun stuff.Comment

That's an excellent post. I could see this type of marketing work well: the silence followed by a splash that casual gamers don't see coming. It would make it's own headlines since there hasn't been an official game in 10 years.
That and a sweet commercial with "This Isn't Madden" posted up over a sizzle reel with amazingly detailed players.Comment

Re: Joe Montana Football 16: A Mysterious Game Remains Under Wraps
That was an excellent string of comments by IOWN YOU. Thanks for pointing that out, FaceMask!
And absolutely, Primo. The way to make a splash with JM16 would be to showcase it during your presser at E3. Instead of just promoting it like a normal game, Microsoft could literally blow the roof off that audience if they flashed the 2K logo in between some shots of the game in slow motion or something like that. I don't want to play fantasy booker here too much, but at this point, it only makes sense to me to keep quiet until E3 and then pull out the big guns. That would create the buzz needed for a competing football game that is about to release it's first iteration.
At that point, I don't think a soul would care that they haven't released any info to this point.Comment

Well, we aren't privy to that information, if it changed, we might have heard something, too?Comment

Re: Joe Montana Football 16: A Mysterious Game Remains Under Wraps
It's the same vid. Joe starts out by saying he was looking to make a game to compete against Madden originally. They decided to go in a different direction with the app...but here we are discussing a Joe Montana game.

5. A franchise mode that will be the "soul" of this game.
Compared to that, what info points to this being just a mobile game?
Other than that, anything else is pure speculation on both sides.
I'm as hopeful as the next person, but I need more hard evidence.
No worries on my end if misterfootball ends up being correct because I have a xbox1. I just thought he would reappear to make more substantive claims. ie, how, when, what, and where he came across his info.Comment

Re: Joe Montana Football 16: A Mysterious Game Remains Under Wraps
Damon seems to be a pretty intelligent guy. Founder of a tech company, worked on social and mobile games... he obviously sold Joe that he should be "his guy." While Damon is undoubtedly working on the game, he's probably more of a manager on the technical side of things. We've seen devs go from mobile to console and console to mobile before without any experience in the area they're headed to. Gotta start somewhere. Just so happens that Damon lived in the same building as Joe Montana, who was looking for someone to help him with his vision of making games. Not to mention that if this is all correct, then they're having help from 2K and Microsoft.Comment

I could see it as evidence that this is a mobile game if Joe was actually looking for a guy with mobile gaming background from the start. But the way it played out, I don't think his background means anything. Based on the info on JMF that's been released, I need a lot more than that to believe this is a mobile game they are making.Comment

Mr Grow is suspiciously quiet on his twitter feed. You would have thought if the post was false information, that it would be acknowledged as being false. I'm thinking an announcement is on the cards very soon.Comment

Re: Joe Montana Football 16: A Mysterious Game Remains Under Wraps
There's something I can't stop thinking right now:
MisterFootballSF seems to know a LOT about JMF16 (if this post is true). The only conceivable way for him to know all this and be able to tell this public would be that he is someone who was told by Mr. Grow to post this. This would follow the the whole "staging leaks" thing they seem to have going on.
Just a theory.New England Patriots
Appalachian State Mountaineers
Tulsa Golden Hurricane
Boston Celtics
