The Cleveland Comeback: New Coach Brings New Life (M15)

The Browns have had a rough history to say the least... poor QB play, rarely making the playoffs, the Modell move, but it all ends here. The Browns believe they have found their guy, his name? Johnny Manziel. Manziel is known for his wild lifestyle and crazy play in college, but many people say that the only thing he has that will translate to the NFL is trouble making.

I'm going to post a few things then I'll give the all clear for everyone else to post. Don't worry, once the season two posts start then everything will be more in-depth, I'm just posting short recaps for season one.

    House Rules:
8-10 minute quarters, gotta find something I like
    All-Pro
No crazy spending in free agency
Keep roster management and gameplay sim
    Simulate season one
I'm gonna mess with coach mode style on defense (no controlling players, just watching) and try no switching on offense (to prevent myself from face catching or cutting off routes)

Josh Gordon's time in Cleveland coming to an end? Trade talks on him are at an all time high.

Reports are that the Browns FO are fed up with Josh Gordon and his inability to stay on the football field. With the recent signings of Jeremy Maclin and Michael Crabtree, there's a very good chance that Josh Gordon will not be in a Browns uniform much longer. It should also be noted that Josh Gordon's contract is up after this season and the Browns haven't started talks to negotiate a long term deal.

              Week 1: Broncos @ Browns

"The Broncos have recently gone all in on winning a championship with Peyton Manning at the helm, do you think your team can stop them?"

"The Broncos are obviously a tough opponent," Coach Jones said, "but I'm confident we can beat them."

"The Browns are currently in a rebuilding process, do you think they can go anywhere this year?'"

"This team is done with the rebuilding process, it's time to go out and win some games." Coach Jones replied.

A bold statement, but Coach Swoosh Jones was ready to turn this team around, and he was ready to do it now.

The Browns have all the pieces, a strong o-line, stud wide outs, a dual-threat TE, a young QB, and a bloodthirsty defense.

"I plan on taking the offense I ran at Baylor, making a few tweaks, and bringing it to Cleveland," Coach Jones added.
Baylor had an up-tempo offense that was pass first, but also had deadly read option and running plays. It was focused on short to intermediate routes with the occasional deep play.
(Note, this is not based on Baylor's real life offense, I have no idea what they run.)

You look at the score and say, "Wow, the Browns offense did great," but really it was the work of the defense that allowed the Browns to win. By constantly pressuring Peyton, forcing fumbles and causing interceptions, the Browns' defense consistently gave their offensive good field position allowing them to blow up the scoreboard. Josh Gordon had a monster game, will that help him stay on the team?

i love reading these so dont stop! i think you should trade gordon because you have quality recievers that can take his spot in the future. i say trade him for a stud/star runningback. you may ask "why? crowell is doing great?" but think of this... getting an 85-90 rb with a 4th round pick or even just a 85-95 woth no picks in the trade can change the offense. faster rb that can break more taxkles, catch, and just dominate. or just trade for a bunch of picks.

An interesting idea... most of the younger backs I can trade for are similar to Crowell (Hill, Lacy), some are pretty much unattainable (Demarco, Le'Veon). I was able to push a trade through for Jamaal in a separate save to see how it would go, but I feel like I was giving up a lot for a 28yr old RB (Josh Gordon, 2016 1st, 2016 3rd, for Jamaal and 2016 2nd) considering regression kicks in around 30.

Josh Gordon is far more valuable than Jamaal in this trade because he's 24yrs old and has 97/97/97 for his catching with 97 route running and 97 release at 6'3 with 92spd (72rbk too).

The Browns barely made it out of this one thanks to a late game interception by rookie corner Deshun Bishop. It was a back and forth battle between these two teams but the Browns came out victorious. Jeremy Maclin decided to have a big game of his own after Josh Gordon's last week, but Gordon wasn't quiet this week either. Coach Swoosh Jones has been slowly implementing more and more plays and schemes from his Baylor offense into the Browns offense each week.
Next week the Browns take on the 0-2 Miami Dolphins who lost their first games to the Colts by seven points and their second game to the Patriots by 18 points.

"This will be a special year for everyone involved in the Cleveland Browns' organization, I'm sure the fans will love it." Coach Jones told the media in a post-game presser.

Also, I'm not having extremely low defensive stats for each game, I just post the top five leaders in tackles and guys with important stats like sacks and interceptions in the box score.

So you're my new competition, huh? I don't mind, but if you ever want to surpass my Browns 'chise, you'll need to put in a lot more work than this.

Ha, not doing this to be the best, just messing around in my free time. Don't really have time to be doing a lot with eight classes but maybe on my breaks I can put in a little more.

If you've got any tips or suggestions let me know you seem like an experienced guy yourself and I don't really come around here that often.
