    Unreasonable Board Expectations (!!!)

So ... I just finished 16th in Ligue One ... I barely avoided regulation ... my objective for the current season was "finish mid-table" ... I did not meet that objective ... but I was not fired ... hurray ... so I moved on to the next season ...

The board objective for me in season two is ... "qualify for Euro League" ... are you kidding me?!? I just scraped by to barely avoid relegation ... and my objective for the following season is to finish 5th or higher? This is simply unreasonable ...

I tried the thing where I fill my team sheet with the eleven weakest players on my team (which, for me, was a few high 50's and mostly mid 60's) at the end of the season, before I advance to the next season ... but, no, a team of mostly 60's players who just barely avoided the drop in 2014/2015 is now expected to qualify for Euro League in 2015/2016.

I am pretty much ruined ... right? There is nothing I can do here?

The whole "firing" concept is really stupid ... you should at least be allowed to turn it off ... why would EA make a game where you, the player (the person who purchased the game) get "kicked out" of playing your game (the game that you purchased ... from EA)? Harrumph!

Did you have more than one team sheet though? Apparently if you have more than one team sheet then even if you have the bad players on the current sheet it will still account for the others and give you the same goals.

OK - fair enough - I will give this a try (I thought it was only on the "main" team sheet) - maybe this will save me. You are suggesting that I need to fill all of my team sheets with roughly the same "dummy team" to give the impression that my squad is not so good.

To be honest ... my actual squad (my "starters") is not really "qualify for Euro League" good in the first place ... my best XI is all between 70 and 75 ... that is *not* Top 5 material ...

The season that I just completed ... I finished 10 / 7 / 21 ... 31 GF / 55 GA ... I am awful at this game (some of those wins were the result of playing the same match multiple times ... which I feel super-guilty about). I was worried that I was going to get fired in year one (when my objective was "finish mid-table"). I am even more worried that I am even more likely to get fired in year two if my objective stays at "qualify for Euro League".

Either switch all of them yeah, or delete the others so you just have 1 team sheet for FIFA to judge from, I'm not sure which. If changing them all doesn't work, try deleting them all and using one, it will be a pain but recreating them shouldn't take too long.

I do agree with the board goals escalating a bit too quickly, especially for clubs that are never really competing for top of the table and are happy to just stay in mid table on pretty much every season.

Also, I agree that you should be able to turn firings off and on, based on whether you want the career mode to be about the manager or the team, like myself as West Ham for example, if I were to be fired it would pretty much kill the career mode for me.

If the only change they make to career mode next year is the ability to turn off being fired, or set the toughness of the goals, then I'd be perfectly happy with the mode. I'd take more, but that has to be a must.

I know lots of people, myself included, would rather play a "manager mode" rather than a "career mode". I don't want to move from team to team, I just want to manage one club.

I wasn't sure if the whole fielding a weak team thing worked again this year, as I know it at least does at the start of the save. Hopefully the one team sheet method takes care of it from year to year.

OK ... that worked ... I had to change the roster for EACH of my team sheets to reflect the *weakest* eleven players on my roster ... I do not think that the players listed as the seven subs matters.

My new objective is "avoid relegation" ... which, given how much I stink at this game, is a far more reasonable objective.

Part of my team development strategy does include keeping a handful of terrible players on my roster ... simply for this purpose of "sabotaging" my roster at the turnover from one season to another. With only 42 roster spots to work with - it is sort of annoying to waste some of those spots on awful players - but it is something that I think I need to plan for.

Anyway ... this looks like it worked ... and I wanted to let everyone know.

Not that I ever finish a season or anything(as anyone who's followed my dynasties can attest) but I kind of like the fact that you're never secure in your position, it adds another dimension to the game. If I remember correctly, several years back you couldn't even choose your start team, you instead were given a choice of a few smaller clubs and had to earn your way to the top sides.

I like it too Orion. Soccer club boards are crazy in real life. Manager turnover should be reflected in the game. I just wish their "philosophies" would carry over over like 2K Hoops

I'd be more okay with it if there were options, or a difficulty for how strict the board was with meeting objectives. In a way, there should be "career" mode for managers, and just "manager" mode.

Instead of starting as a nobody, I should be able to start as a well respected manager if I choose (even if their likeness isn't in the game), and stay at a club for damn near as along as I want if I'm not winning titles each year (Arsene Wenger).

Just wondering, does anyone know of a website or app that lists all of the board expectations in an easy to follow format? I know there was a great Android app that did so for Fifa 14 but I haven't been able to find anything for 15.

ONLY 42 roster spots? Egads! I rarely carry much more than 30 players. I like to get as many of them playing time as I can. It's tough to loan players out in this version for some reason. Used to be if you listed them for loan someone would take them. Now it is much more hit and miss, and I don't feel like saving and restarting until someone takes them on loan. So I try to keep around 30. Admittedly that can sometimes be a problem when injuries stack up and players leave for International play. But I try to have at least a couple of losers in the Youth Academy so I can promote on quickly to the big club if I get short on numbers. Try to keep the good ones down until the May 1 update, of course.

I wish they bring back what Orion mentioned as it's more realistic to start at lower club then work your reputation to get better offers or stay. Sort of how NCAA football worked you could always stay and resign , get fired or join a better club. Kinda like national teams in fifa 15 as u get crappy ones first then bigger teams.

-I noticed loan is harder and also making sure they aren't in your same league as they won't grow if in same league. I'm wondering if maybe fifa caught on to everyone using the loan glitch to recall and keep boosting players potential and reset growth to grow like 7 spots instead of max 4 normal. Does get annoying when u can't even get high potential youngsters on some lower team to play for a low salary..

I've found it gets a lot easier to loan players out if you make a LOAN teamsheet that just features all of the players that you want to loan out, and then use them in the friendlies to get them a couple games and have that teamsheet as your "main" teamsheet through the transfer window (obviously not the one you use in games) and for some reason it seems to get offers for basically everyone that you have loan listed.

Just some "wrap up" thoughts on this (I am the OP) ...

I had done the "adjust your starting XI" thing at the beginning of each of my two career modes (when it is the first season, you need to go to "edit teams" to change the starting XI of the team that you are using for your career mode, so that when the first season begins, your expectations can be tuned based on the line-up that you selected). I had manipulated the line-up for each team so that I received the objective "finish mid-table". I have traditionally been very good at FIFA ... I thought this objective would not be a problem.

It turns out ... I suck at FIFA15 ... wowzers. It was a struggle throughout both first seasons ... I ended up finishing 16th in my Ligue One career, and 17th in my EPL career. In both cases I missed on "mid-table" ... but in both cases I did not get relegated ... and in both cases I did not get fired. Phew!

When advancing from season one to season two ... this is what was the impetus for my original post in this thread. Over the course of the seasons I had built other team sheets (you can have up to six team sheets). I did remember to adjust the starting XI for my primary team sheet ... and when I moved to season two ... my objective was the highly unreasonable "qualify for Euro League". I went back (I keep multiple saves exactly for things like this) and adjusted the starting XI for *each* of my six team sheets (is does not matter who plays where ... I have a GK at CDM ... whatever ... just get your weakest eleven players) ... and this was enough. My new objective for season two is "avoid relegation". Given that I just barely cleared the drop in season one ... this seems like a considerably more reasonable objective.

Someone had mentioned earlier about my comment regarding the 42 roster spots ... I try to have a core of about 25 guys who regularly see the field ... but I also have a few useless (cheap / young) guys on the roster simply for this season-turnover business, I have some youth academy guys who needed to get promoted to the senior team but are away on loan ... I also like to keep slots open for Bosmans. If you sign a Bosman in January - he still counts against your 42 - even though he is not on your team until the following July ... so I need to keep four (or so) spaces available for the January transfer window. And I also like to keep some spots open for "testing" youth academy call-ups ... you can promote a guy / see his true OVR / see his "other" positions ... and then revert to a previous save ... you need the "room" on the roster to do these call-ups. So, yeah, the 42 slots fill up quickly.
