WANTED to test out the online servers with my boy. instead we got something else...

i got to see how momentum APPEARS*** to work from the other person POV. feel free to watch the whole game. me and him were having fun and it was a good game till 2k decided to "2k"

im stuck on that 4th quarter tho, LMFAO. those last few possessions had me losing my mind.

    - i got called for a foul while my arms were STRAIGHT UP and he jumped into me.

    - lance thomas (LOLKNICKS) blew a EASY dunk

    - Kobe nails a CONTESTED RED 3 from deep in the staples.

    - my rage quit LMAO

there other little things that drove me mad. (as you can tell from my friend reactions) but yea. enjoy my fails and trouble guys.

*** i could be wrong, but from how some of those sequences flowed it really felt like it was all momentum based taking some games where i had it happen to me ***

2k come back AI at it's finest. I didn't even watch but what you described has happened to me countless times. If the game code has already made up it's mind the team is on a 'run or a come back' your player will do things he's never done regardless of rating.

Sometimes things happen that I've NEVER see before. Like literally I've only see happen to me during some come back or a run. It's really frustrating lol...I agree.

How would you suggest they fix it tho?

like i cant stand when it feels like the game is taking the controller out of my hand. this is why i enjoy live online so much more. a majority of times if you lose you know why you lost and you cant blame the game. but 2k has too much stupid **** happening.

and no this isnt a bash topic. im just being real.

the comeback AI or w/e you wana call it makes ruins good games. or makes what should be blowouts into close nail bitters. come on son

from the video. if you watch it and you see when i was posting up with bargs, in the 4th and he does that stupid *** shot animation and loses the ball? that was me PASSING in what WOULD BE A GOOD CLEAN PASS IN ANY OTHER CIRCUMSTANCE

its not really the end of the thread though.

anyone who has played 2k for awhile can tell you with confidence that what beluba said is not true.

but i guess if you think someone who works on the game will actually admit it, then i guess thats your issue lol.

ignorance can be bliss sometimes, i suppose.

ive been playing 2k since 2k8 i believe and every single year the game has this stuff in it, exactly like what the OP posted. the game has artificial runs that your opponents go on(offline AND online) to make the game more competitive. ive also been on the other end of the run, actually getting the benefits of it as well. no matter what side of it you are on, you know its happening and you know that you have had very little to do with it.

you basically have to be blind or completely naive to believe this is not in the game. its been in the game for many years.

remember when JD2020 (the old treyarch community manager) said that the lag in black ops 1 was in our heads and was completely serious about it too? why are we taking what the people who work for the company say for the truth.

as the last post says. i played games where i been on the good AND bad side of the comeback BS. you cant tell people who logged MONTHS of time into 2k that it doesnt exist. i had a game before on my team where i was doing so bad and then when the 4th started, melo and george hill couldnt miss from deep and i would have won that game if i didnt get a tech for too many tos (LMFAO) but i had more points in the 4th quarter than i had in the first half. while my opponent couldnt do ANYTHING. and was missing FTS.

like its 1 thing to defend a game, no problem. but to do so like this when the problem is really evident is really LOL. i mean even if this video isnt what im and others are talking about, i bet you can find MANY videos about this spanning the last few years.

            @mods im not flaming.

i've seen much more compelling cases. there were a ton of bad shots hoisted up b/w the two of you. a 2K dev is gonna see that and swear it doesnt exist because of the quality of shots/play and passes.

But i know better. I've seen people up 15-20 and all of a sudden the things that got them the lead start to fail them. I pride myself on patient offense, careful passes, low amount of long jumpers, etc. Even when i play somebody that's completely reckless, 2K always manages to keep the game close. i could be shooting 72% and they shoot 40% and it's still close....some ****ing how. This footage aint the most compelling but we know this ****'s real.

yea i know, we both were just having fun. but some traces of the BS is still evident even in that lol. thats why i added the disclaimer. but at least you pointed out that this isnt a myth.

you did touch on a fact tho. how 2k rewards stupidness. when i play for real. i actually try to run a offense and be careful. but this game seems to encourage run and gun more than anything.

I guess if you actually think a person working on the game night in and night out wouldn't notice that there's a comeback code or has a single reason to take time out of their day to post on these forums and lie to (in the grand scheme of things) a few of their customers then that is your issue.

                    lol whatever bro.

the people making the game dont have anything to gain from admitting that stuff like this is in the game. they will just deny it when they see it brought up. its not like he just gets on here to lie to people. beluba does a lot of legit stuff on here and does a lot of good work, but that doesnt mean he wouldnt cover up a facet of the game that nobody likes when presented with the opportunity.

like i said, ive been playing the game since 2k8 and its been in every single edition of the game since at least then.

i mean lets think about this. beluba says it happens because the AI adjusts to your play style and that you have to adapt and change your game up, right?

so why has this been happening in 2k8,9,10,11,12 etc before this adaptive AI even really existed? this year and last year are the only years i recall 2k boasting of AI that will actually adjust to your game play. so what is the reasoning for this happening all the way back to at least 2k8?

explain it to me. go ahead, tell me im crazy and im just seeing things.

I've been playing 2K since 2K2 and the only thing I can say is just like in any sports game you have to make adjustments, and if you fail to do so you will lose. I uploaded this video (its a full 12 min qtr game) where I went into the 4th with a 1 point lead and I called timeout after timeout, changed my matchups, and changed my POE's to neutralize the CPU runs.

                      <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/SG7yKK7-7VU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I just don't understand everyone wants to complain about how you blew a 67 point lead, but none of you were complaining when you were hitting every shot shooting 55% to BUILD that lead...people act like they never want to lose ever...Idk what else to say...I've said it, Czar said it, and now Beluba has said it. If you can't stop the runs you have to adjust YOUR GAME.

Anyways the video above has a bunch of watermarks in the description to show where I was making adjustments and the type of plays I was running so I hope that helps you guys who are struggling with holding on to your leads.

see, this is where you are wrong though. it has nothing to do with winning or losing. it has nothing to do with being on the wrong side of the run. if you read my post you would see that i said ive been on both sides of the run and its painfully obvious either way that its the game doing it and not much is in the user's hands.

this happens online against users, and it happens offline against the cpu. so the whole "adjust to the AI" excuse doesnt even make sense when its happening against another user controlled team.

open up your eyes bro. its real. i love 2k and i play it all the time. i dont even think this is a huge issue because it doesnt happen that often to me, but it is still an issue none the less. the runs the game makes teams go on(user OR AI) just are not natural sometimes. they are completely manufactured to make the game something that its not.

I've been playing since 2k5 and I play on HOF sim and there is no comeback code at all. Period. Most of the people who shout this just don't make the proper adjustments during the game. You have to adjust to what the CPU is doing.

You might be killing them in the 1st half, but they are going to sure adjust to what you are doing. That same stuff that was working in the 1st half won't work in the 2nd half anymore. Someone on their team might get hot. You call a timeout. You adjust the defense to whoever is beating you. Hell, even double them if you have to. You might even force a turnover. When my guys get tired and the shots aren't falling, I start attacking the rim relentlessly and get to the line.

I've had games where a guy like Monta Ellis would be abusing me in the 2nd half. I tried everything. I couldn't stop him. I decided to finally set the defense to auto double him everytime. guess what? It made him give the ball up. Then, guys like the corpse of richard jefferson had to start shooting. And what happened? He would miss. You have to dare the inferior players on their team beat you.

Basketball is a game of runs and adjustments. Most of the people crying comeback code here just don't know how or don't have the patience to call a timeout when the momentum is starting to swing. You have to be smart if you want to win. Don't sit there and let Kevin Durant put up 40 on you and then cry comeback code when you left him single covered the whole game and made absolutely no adjustments to take the ball out of his hands.

Love this game but yeah, the momentum system is really bad. It is so damn obvious when it kicks in, it's not even funny. You miss open jumpers, layups, and dunks whereas your opponent makes everything in sight regardless of how contested it truly is. You're goona lose points off your lead no doubt but it seems time based so I usually just take a full timeout and wait it out and by the time play resumes, everything seems normal again.
