@Tex A lot of movement in the window but I like the signings! August was a good month along with September and some of the signings have been doing really well. 7th is a good spot and you are well able if you have another good month to get into the European places. Some nice prospects in your academy also.

@Indi I like the targets and I'm sure you'll be able to work some magic and bring most of them in. Looking forward to seeing who you go for/manage to get.

@Simp Kalou is back! 7 in 4 games is an amazing return! Drmic has also been doing well in Europe for you. Good going in your Europa League group and in the league!

Brown Ideye had the first shot of the game, firing well over from 30 yards. Not much happened until the half hour mark when we won a corner. It was swung in and the header from Kane was cleared off the line. However, it fell to Raheem Sterling who volleyed into the top corner expertly from 20 yards. Unfortunately, West Brom equalised when Pocognoli's cross was headed on by Sakho for Morrison to stroke in. Kane forced an incredible reaction save from Foster to deny his toe poked effort.

This result irritated me so much. We took an early lead, Lambert running clear and smashing into the top corner. We had control of the game but QPR got a lucky goal, the ball bouncing off of Sandro's heel and rolling under Mignolet, who took out Skrtel when diving as the Slovak was about to clear the ball. Gray beat the defence and fired wide and Ibe smashed against the post. We played better than QPR but couldn't find a winner.

Skrtel missed the first opportunity of the game, heading over from a corner won by Harry Kane. Minutes later, Enyeama pulled off an incredible acrobatic save to deny Sturridge a screamer and Adam Lallana hit the post from the resulting corner. Kane finally gave us the lead somehow, Sterling's blocked shot falling to Kane surrounded by 6 players. Somehow he wriggled out of them and stroked into the bottom corner. His second came when Lallana's through ball split the defence down the middle and Kane smashed it in first time. Mignolet was finally forced into a save when Diaby turned and drilled it hard and low towards the corner. He then missed a free header from the resulting corner. Migs made an acrobatic stop to block a cross that was heading towards Diaby and Enyeama was forced into one last save to deny Sturridge from close range.

The first half was completely uneventful, nothing of note happening. The first action was when Mignolet tipped a stunning strike from Livermore over the bar with his fingertips. Lambert then put the ball wide from a diving header when he really should have given us the lead. Khune made a good save to deny substitute Ibe but the sub gave us the winner with the last kick of the game. Cutting inside and beating 3 defenders before smashing it into the near corner off the post.

Manager Thoughts

What the hell went on this month? How are we still 2nd? Every match, apart from the one in Europe, we played awfully. We threw away leads against West Brom and QPR and were outplayed at times by them. Hull almost kept us to a stalemate. HULL! We had to go to penalties to beat Yeovil! Championship relegation candidates Yeovil kept us to penalties! Our defence is a shambles, our attack is playing badly. The midfield and Mignolet are keeping this team afloat. With Balotelli and Lambert out for 3 weeks we only have Sturridge and Kane as strikers. The team has only scored 11 league goals. January, I need a solid centre back and a world class striker. At least we blew Lille out of the water.

Hertha BSC were finally able to defeat a bottom three team! Even better, they didn't have any trouble doing so. The triumph started only 12 minutes into the game when Valentin Stocker finished a counter attack with a nicely placed shot. There weren't any more goals in the first half but Salomon Kalou found his form again during the second half. He scored his first goal at the hour mark when he tapped in a low cross played by Andre Hahn. Ten minutes after that Kalou finished a nice passing move. Only eight minutes later the Ivorian completed his hattrick from the penalty spot but that wasn't enough for him. The top goal scorer of the league finished a fourth goal under ten minutes later with an outside of the boot shot from the edge of the box. There was some drama in stoppage time when Thomas Kraft lost the ball to Nürnberg's striker. John Anthony Brooks reacted quickly and prevented the goal by breaking the striker's legs from behind. The defender got sent off and a penalty was rewarded but Kraft managed to save it!

Another very good performace from Hertha BSC in the Europa League which secured their place in the knockout stages. The atmosphere was wonderful at the Olympiastadion as the team managed to score five goals in second consecutive game. The Europa League hitman Josip Drmic opened the scoreline from a corner and twenty minutes later Andre Hahn got into the box and shot the ball into the top left corner with his right foot. Right before half time Valentin Stocker cut in from the right wing and played a low cross into the box which was finished into the top net by Änis Ben-Hatira. Right after the hour mark in the second half Josip Drmic got a brace from a counter attack. Five minutes before the end Kilmarnock got one back after about ten passes in the box. That wasn't the last goal of the game, though. Timo Werner started a counter attack and he passed the ball to Leroy Sane at the edge of the box. Sane then chipped the ball into the box where a defender took it down. Werner somehow managed to hit the ball into the net with a diving header.

This game against mister Cruzerr's ex-team was a surprisingly even one. Stuttgart managed to take the lead in the 22nd minute when Didavi curled in a free kick. Fifteen minutes later Valentin Stocker dribbled inside the box, waiting for support. He then layed the ball off to Kalou who shot it into the top right corner. About five minutes later the Ivorian got a brace from a... well, it's hard to describe what happened. Take a look:

FC Schalke 04 0 - 0 Hertha BSC

Controversial, full of fouls and defensive minded. Those words describe this match between Schaisse 04 and Hertha BSC. The first bit of controversy was seen in the first ten minutes. A penalty was rewarded for Schaisse because of Baba's foul on Huntelaar:

Was this a foul? Maybe, it depends on the referee because in fact Baba did pull Huntelaar back. Was this a penalty? Never. The biggest foul that happens inside the box is that Baba slightly touches Huntelaar's butt. Luckily Klaas-Jan Huntelaar hit the post from the penalty and Baba didn't get sent off. Two defenders were amazing today: John Anthony Brooks and Kaan Ayhan. Both of them prevented a few goals. Also, Timo Werner sprained his ankle and he'll miss three weeks of action.

Hertha BSC 2 - 0 Eintracht Frankfurt

The last game of the month saw Eintracht Frankfurt visit the mighty Olympiastadion. Hertha managed to beat them without too much effort. Salomon Kalou got the winner in the 27th minute from the penalty spot after he was taken down in the box. Five minutes after the beginning of the second half Valentin Stocker got the second goal of the match when he finished a counter attack with a beautifully placed shot into the bottom right corner.

The current holder of the Golden Boot showed why he won it last season after having a quiet month in October. This month he scored seven goals in four appearances which is just amazing. The Ivorian continues to grow as a player and he's almost irreplaceble for Hertha BSC.

Andre Hahn

Hahn has become an important piece of Hertha's attack in the past few months. He has assisted and scored some goals and his stamina combined with his speed make him a very dangerous player.

Valentin Stocker

The Swiss winger-converted-to-a-midfielder has been shining in the middle of the pitch during the eight months in which he has played there. Stocker is a good dribbler and his vision and passing skills make him a very good playmaker. He picked up a few goals in this month and a few assists, too.

Headlines

Salo-god Kalounaldo - Salomon Kalou is back. After scoring only two goals in October the main goal threat of the team showed that he was just suffering from a bit of poor form. Now he managed to find the back of the net incredible seven times in four games which means that he scored just under two goals on average.

Josip Dr-Europa-mic - The other big attacking name of the team is also enjoying a run of great form. The young Josip Drmic has scored in every Europa League game of the season and he's leading the goal chart with eight goals in four appearances.

League form - The Berliners had an unbeaten month in league play in November and they dropped only two points against defensive-minded Schalke 04. Hertha conceded only one goal in the league and they are leading the league by six points. Second-placed Leverkusen have a game in hand, though.

Werner's ankle - Timo Werner sprained his ankle after a bad challenge in the Schalke game and the young German talent will be out injured for three weeks. The injury is a big blow for Hertha but Werner's replacement Änis Ben-Hatira is also a talented and skillful player. He's not as good as Werner, though.

WOW, those first two matches of the month with back to back 5 goal games. I knew that Kalou wouldn't stay down for long, and it was just 1 odd month before he was back to what you expect. You have such a dangerous team that can just pour on the goals at any point.

A lot of 1 goal matches for you, but a nice win over Lille in the CL. You have a lot of players that can make your attack very dangerous so I think it is only matter of time before the goals start pouring in. Still, you are in 2nd and I think you will keep City from running away with is as the season goes on.

Juan Dominguez threaded the ball through for Iglesias on a run up the middle and he struck it first time inside the near post to double the lead. Barral chased down a rebound off of a save and was taken down by Holland just as he collected the ball to earn a penalty. Iglesias converted the penalty into the top left corner to complete his brace for the night. Just before the half, Bresciano found Ronivaldo on a great run up the middle and he took a touch into the middle before firing it inside the near post.

Deportivo La Coruña Player of the Month

Laure

Laure asserted himself on the right side all month long. None of the opponents this month were able to get much going down their left wing as Laure was up to the challenge. His highlight was his superb solo run down the field from the back to finish on the left side of the goal.

Manager Comments

Night and Day - The first half of the months aw the offense really struggle to get things going, but starting with the Austria Wien match it turned around. The defense was solid all month long and the back 4 combination of Luisinho, Ekiza, Insua, and Laure are really starting to separate themselves.

Academy Update - The big news this month was the addition of 4 Argentine players to the academy. Carlos Alberto, Deigo Rodriguez, Jose Baquero, and Jose Enrique are the results of the most recent scouting trip that still has another month left before the scout returns.

Europa League - We stay on top of our group table even with PSV on points. So far our only slip up has been the 1-0 loss this month and that was away to PSV. We still have home matches left against PSV and Everton and if we take care of business there then we should have no problem advancing.

The man of preseason got us a point in this game being involved in our 2 goals. Surprisingly we led 1-0 at halftime when Ángel was slipped through and he curled around Diego Alves. Thanks to some good defending and work from Alcolea we managed to hold that lead until the hour mark. Winger Feghouli eventually broke through running onto a back heel from Parejo, that caught our otherwise solid defence out, and smashing a bullet past Alcolea. Jonas forced a good save from Alcolea but the ensuing corner swung in by Feghouli was met by Piatti at the back post. Pedro had misjudged the flight of the ball and Rico failed to jump with Piatti who headed past a surprised Alcolea. Parejo was prevented again by Alcolea before we countered with Ángel and Pedro with the former playing it into the latter. Pedro fooled the sprinting Pereira and took it to his left into the box. Diego Alves was just a fraction too slow out which was all Pedro needed to poke it under him and level the game. With 5 minutes left Keane decided to protect what would be a very good point and reverted from the 4-3-3 Holding that the team had been running to a 5-4-1 flat with Porcar making way for Leandro Cabrera. We closed our the game successfully and earned a valuable first point in our first game.

Another good point but this time I felt that we could have gotten all 3 if not for a defensive mistake. Again we went in at the break 1-0 up this time thanks to a stunning Hadzic half volley. A cross was put in which Porcar challenged for. The header out landed around the edge of the box and Hadzic controlled and struck on the half volley like a bullet in off the post. Ruilli didn't stand a chance. But soon after the second half began Bigas, don't ask me why, was extremely deep in our half well behind the other 3 defenders. That allowed Canales to get a ball chipped over the top and while everything was disorganized he dribbled past Bigas then Laguardia before shooting past Alcolea. Canales missed a great chance for the winner around the 70th minute shooting wide from inside the area.

This game saw some rotation with Gafarot and Guilló making their debuts at LB and CDM respectively. Other changes included Suárez for Ángel, Romero for Álamo, Tierno for Tarsi and Gómez for Fernández. And we got our first win of the season. A nice way to end an unbeaten month. Both sides had early chances but crucially ours were on target. Fernández (A ginger Spaniard!

) scored for the home side 5 minutes before half time. He made a run into the middle of the box and got the ball free and was able to place it around Alcolea. 3 minutes later though Guilló capped off a good debut with a goal that deflected off Espanyol captain Raul and in off the post to level it going into halftime. Diego Suárez justified his start with a goal to take the lead just after the hour mark. He took the ball past Raul's narrowly missed tackle on the edge of the area and then turned back on his right to curl around Kiko. The win was secured when Romero dispossessed Fuentes inside the area before finishing past an unready Kiko.

Gabriel Rodriguez - (Spain) RB, 57-61 Ovr, 74-80 Pot, 16 (Defensive Minded) - The 5'8" 16 year old is the second addition to the Zaragoza Academy. He looks like he will be either a defender or a defensive midfielder seeing as his best stats are his defensive one. Particularly his standing tackle and strength. He has decided to be a right back even though he is left footed. With a lack of pace he is most likely to be a CB. I hope he will grow though.

Rafael Lopez - (Spain) GK, 60-64 Ovr, 75-81 Pot, 15 (Goalkeeper) - The third addition to the Academy is 6'3" 15 year old goalkeeper Rafael Lopez. The left footed shot stopper's best attribute at the minute looks to be his kicking. We hope that he can be our future No.1 as well as his country's No.1.

Laurenco Pauleta - (Portugal) LM/LW, 56-60 Ovr, 73-79 Pot, 15 (Unknown) - Laurenco is the first non Spanish player to join our Academy. The Portuguese looks like a technical player and looks to be a winger judging by his stats.

Wow what a month in terms of goals. I counted 18 goals for you in 6 matches. That win over Real Madrid must have been unbelievable with Rodrigo going out of his mind in the last 15 minutes. The draw against Liverpool at the end wasn't a bad result either considering it was at Anfield.

The first chance of a dull game came early on when Sturridge ran clear but Krul excellently made the save to deny him. Not much was happening and we had to wait till the second half for another clear-cut chance, Mignolet making an excellent save to deny a screamer by Obertan. We got the lead from the spot late on when Tiote brought down Kane in the box and the young man stepped up to fire home. Markovic came close to grabbing a second late on but the ball was played behind him and it got caught under his feet, resulting in him firing wide.

Champions League Group Stage Match 4

Basel have a knack for winning in England but Sturridge's early goal from Kane's through ball broke the curse. Studge then came close again, firing just wide from 25 yards. Vaclik then made an incredible save to deny Ibe's curling effort. Basel's only real chance of the game came when Delgado fired just wide from the edge of the box. Unfortunately for us, Kane broke his ankle and will be out for 3 months, leaving Sturridge as our only fully fit striker for the Chelsea match.

In an unfamiliar 4-5-1 formation I expected us to get battered, but the complete opposite happened. Gerrard gave us the lead from the penalty spot after Coutinho was brought down by Terry and minutes later, Henderson smashed into the top near corner to double our advantage. Chelsea rarely threatened and Sturridge came close before Coutinho slotted in from Markovic's cut back across goal. Henderson fired just wide late on as we blew Chelsea away.

Speroni made a good save to deny Balo in the first chance of the match, diving low to parry the ball away. We dominated the half but struggled to break them down due to our weak team. Our lack of making good on our possession came back to haunt us as Chamakh headed in from a good cross to give Palace the lead. Balo's free kick took a deflection and looped high into the air, dropping in behind Speroni for the equaliser. Substitute Gerrard forced a great save from Speroni as the ball took a bobble that neatly made it beat the keeper and fellow sub Sterling had his rebound denied brilliantly. Enrique hit the post in stoppage time and Palace held on for a draw.

Champions League Group Stage Match 5

We won this massive match to guarantee first place in the group in dramatic circumstances. The first chance of the match came to Khedira who thundered the ball goal-wards but Mignolet made an excellent save. Sturridge then countered from the corner and when he, Lallana and Coutinho were in the box vs Pepe and the keeper, they linked up, only for Coutinho's thunderous effort to smash off the post. Migs made a great save on the stroke of half time, sticking a hand up to deny Bale a chipped goal. The second half was a midfield battle until Sterling played Lallana through who calmly storked into the bottom corner.

This game was something else. We had 17 shot, 14 on target. That shows how good Begovic was today. 10 of those 14 were unbelievable saves. He stopped a Sturridge toe poke for point blank range. Screams from Moreno and Henderson. Multiple point blank saves from Sterling, Balo, Sturridge and Coutinho. Balo hit the bar from a header. Stoke had 0 shots, but we couldn't beat Begovic. The goal was deserved, but Begovic will feel hard done by. He made a wonderful save to deny Balo but the defender didn't clear it and Sturridge bundled it in. What a game for us that if there was another keeper in there, it would have probably been 7 or 8.

Manager Thoughts

Form picking up this month. We have played better on the whole. Balotelli and Lambert returned from injury which is an upside. The Champions League continues to be our best competition and we had some massive wins this month against Chelsea and Real Madrid. It was a wonderful display against Chelsea in an unfamiliar formation which resulted in a flourishing attacking display. Against Real we defended very well which is a significant improvement on last month. Clyne kept Ronaldo in his pocket and Moreno kept Bale in his. Mignolet continues to play well. We were unlucky against Palace not to win but I'm proud of the lads as they were a weak side, playing the likes of Bishop, Rossiter and Flanagan.

What an impressive month. A lot of 1-0 wins, but the way you handled Chelsea and then Real Madrid was outstanding. The only thing that kept the month from being absolutely perfect was the 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace. Big month, and you climbed within 3 pts of City.

Klinsmann is out after the German manager just couldn't seem to kick the theme of conceding late goals. His contract was set to run through the 2018 World Cup, so his removal is a surprise across the country. Many expected the United State's to go with an American manager to replace Klinsmann, and the whispers were true. Tex Bumosix, current manager of Deportivo La Coruña in La Liga will be splitting his duties and taking over the squad.

Bumosix inherits a squad that went out in the round of 16 at the last World Cup. The nation is hungry to be recognized across the world as a legitimate soccer power, but a lot of work needs to be done for that to happen. The country has the resources, and with the increasing popularity, this is a good time for the young manager to take over. A lot will be expected from him due to this, but the American is up for the job stating, "To get the chance to manage my home country is a dream come true. I've follow this team and these players for a long time, and I know that they are capable of so much. It is my goal to help them realize the potential we have as a soccer nation."

Deportivo La Coruña Player of the Month

Germán Lux

Germán Lux was in top form this month, allowing only 1 goal in against Levante with Fabricio taking over the duties in goal for the PSV game before Lux finished out the month with 4 straight clean sheets against a tough schedule of opponents. His penalty save against Atletico was a testament to his dominance this month.

Manager Comments

Academy Update - Our scouting trip to Argentina wrapped up with the additions of Daniel Lugano, Pablo Munoz, and Pedro Reyes. We have now relocated the scout on a quick trip to Portugal before he comes back to Spain to continue local scouting.

League Form - Our league form was outstanding taking every point available. The defense was fantastic conceding only 1 goal in league play, and the back 4 have really cemented themselves into the starting XI. More importantly, the play of Germán Lux behind them couldn't be better at the moment. We have moved past Atletico into 3rd, and if this continues who knows how high we could end up.

Europa League - The loss to PSV this month was the only sore spot. It knocked us down to 3rd in the group table, and our next match against Everton is a must win. If we beat Everton at home it puts us into a great position going into the match against Austria Wien. I will do everything possible to be sure our players are ready to go against Everton.

International Job - I have taken an offer to manage my home country, the United States. This is a dream come true, and it was something I just couldn't pass up. This won't effect my ability to manage Deportivo La Coruña in any way. I am confident that I can split my time and not falter in my commitment to either job.

Good month overall I'd say. It is brilliant to beat Real Madrid, Sevilla, Atletico and Barca, 3 of the biggest teams in Spain. Even if 2 of them aren't doing great, they still have that quality to destroy you. Climbing into 3rd as well, it looks like you'll be securing a Champions League spot and if you keep up the good form I could see you pulling yourself into the title race. You need to pick up in Europe though because if you drop out at this stage it will put a downer on the season.

Germán Lux

Germán Lux was in top form this month, allowing only 1 goal in against Levante with Fabricio taking over the duties in goal for the PSV game before Lux finished out the month with 4 straight clean sheets against a tough schedule of opponents. His penalty save against Atletico was a testament to his dominance this month.

Manager Comments

Academy Update - Our scouting trip to Argentina wrapped up with the additions of Daniel Lugano, Pablo Munoz, and Pedro Reyes. We have now relocated the scout on a quick trip to Portugal before he comes back to Spain to continue local scouting.

League Form - Our league form was outstanding taking every point available. The defense was fantastic conceding only 1 goal in league play, and the back 4 have really cemented themselves into the starting XI. More importantly, the play of Germán Lux behind them couldn't be better at the moment. We have moved past Atletico into 3rd, and if this continues who knows how high we could end up.

Europa League - The loss to PSV this month was the only sore spot. It knocked us down to 3rd in the group table, and our next match against Everton is a must win. If we beat Everton at home it puts us into a great position going into the match against Austria Wien. I will do everything possible to be sure our players are ready to go against Everton.

International Job - I have taken an offer to manage my home country, the United States. This is a dream come true, and it was something I just couldn't pass up. This won't effect my ability to manage Deportivo La Coruña in any way. I am confident that I can split my time and not falter in my commitment to either job.

Shea sent a low cross into the box that rolled across to the other side where Chandler chased it down and sent the ball back in for Diskerud to head home for the deciding goal of the match.

Altidore got picked up the ball at midfield and pushed the counter on his own getting to just a yard outside the box before firing a stunning shot into the top right corner. Zardes attacked the space on the right side of the box that Altidore had just vacated and slotted it past the keeper on the near post. Gatt played the ball ahead to Altidore on the right side of the box and he struck the ball across the goal into the top left corner. Hydman got past the defense on the counter and attacked the right side of the goal before playing it across for Zardes to slide in and tap it home. Green found Shea down the left wing and he sent a cross into the box to pick out Hyndman for a well placed header into the top right corner.

Great month!!! Minus the L at the beginning of the month to PSV. Taking a clean sweep in Madrid is great by any standards now matter the team. And you better bring a WC to the States!!! They are good up and coming team. Zardes as you saw is a beast. And you should have a great 1-2 with him and Jose up top. The real lack of a top position at the WC is going to be in goal. With Tim Howard at 37/38 years old he will be gone by then.
