Most Exciting Teams for Franchise Mode

I personally feel that this year there are plenty of really interesting teams to play with in franchise mode - I usually like to be somewhat challanged so I dont go with the very best teams, this year those would be the Nationals, Dodgers and Cardinals. But since im playing almost all games myself I want a team that can potentially contend already in year 1, has some talent and not too many old players. This would leave me with like half the League to chose from this year.. I have been considering Padres, Pirates, White Sox, and the Cubs. Besides those I somehow find the Yankees appealing as well.

Which of those I mentioned would you chose? And what are you plans, maybe aside of going with your real life favorite.

Personally, I think the Cubs could be the most fun if you're going to play enough franchise seasons to see all that young talent develop. Playing in Wrigley with all the new lighting, stadium, and surroundings work would be a heck of a treat.

Small market teams are also fun, but for different reasons. OAK is always good because they tend to have solid pitching and a lineup that forces you to be creative in terms of finding ways to score runs.

Think its always the most fun to use your hometown team no matter how the team looks. Build them up into a beast team and dominate the league feels great with your favorite team.

I'm rolling with the Cubs as soon as the OSFM rosters drop. I'm looking forward to building up Baez, Bryant, Soler, and Russell.

And those are just the top tier prospects they have!

          1) White Sox
          2) Cubs, a close 2nd
          3) Pirates, a distant third
          4) Padres, no interest for me, even with Kimbrel
          5) Yankees, I'd sooner name my son Seven

If I didn't hate the Yanks, I might have placed them as high as 3rd.

I know you don't have them listed, but I am going with the Jays.

They're loaded with awesome young arms and a top tier veteran lineup. If things start to go south, options are wide open for trading off some of those vets for a quickstart rebuild.

Since King Felix is my favorite non NYM. Seatle. But once the osfm rosters drop I'll be playing as the mets.

I just played a couple exhibition games with them to tune my DD profile and the Rogers Center looks amazing. They have great uniform options, and the roster is fun to use. I think they'd be tons of fun.

Miami Marlins. Miami has 3 young pitchers to build around, not to mention some young pop in the lineup and of course Giancarlo. Nats will give you a battle for the division and with the youth on this team, will allow you to improve year to year. The stadium is new, and definitely gives a different feel with those bright green walls....and even the uni's have grown on me. If you are looking to build on a nice young roster and take it into The Show 16 or 17, take a look at Miami.

I'm in the same situation as the OP. Trying to decide between Boston, Cleveland, Miami, Pittsburgh and San Diego.

Marlins, Jays and Mariners would definitely be on my list as well, but since they don't have their stadiums as closed roof versions in the game they are no option for me in franchise mode this year.

Boston and Cleveland wouldn't be bad choice either for me, just too many this year lol

Brewers their my hometown team and the team is kind of a mess. Must decide do a quick rebuild or a full rebuild. Thinking quick due to Braun's unmovable contract. When OSFM launches Ill play some games and be willing to shop some of the older players and even K Davis. Hes a god awful fielder.

I really like gomez but in game and IRL he's a guy who could get a good package. He's 29 due to expire next season. Do I want to commit $ to a then 31 y/o whose biggest asset is speed or shop him?

I'm really looking forward to this one, its not like I got Fielder/Braun sitting there ready to smash long balls. Might have to get crafty with Segura/Gennett/Sardinas. Must decide what trio im best with

                        SS Segura 2b Gennett
                        SS Segura 2b Sardinas
                        SS Sardinas 2b Gennett
SS Sardinaa 2b Segura (started as 2b)

Once called up Sardinas likely will see some time at 3b to give an off day assuming we keep A-ram around. Id expect aram is moved early on in my season. I really need a younger 3b I just have no idea who to get.

I'm really digging the Blue Jays this year.

They're a veteran heavy roster with tons of pop; sometimes manufacturing runs gets old after a while. Mashing with Bautista, Encarnacion, and Donaldson should be a heck of a lot of fun.

Additionally, they have some decent young arms on the come up. Stroman and Sanchez are two of the top pitching prospects in baseball. The only thing that scares me is their bullpen. If you want, you could move Sanchez into the closer's role as he was likely going to be their closer prior to Stroman's injury.

The Jays have everything I look for in a franchise team; fun roster, awesome uniforms, cool stadium, in a tough division. What more could you ask for?

When does OSFM come out? I was told today but have seen nothing yet. When it does come out I will be deciding between a few teams.

                            1. Twins: huge rebuild which would be cool, sweet stadium. Buxton, Meyer, Berrios, Sano, Gordon coming up in the system.

                            2. Angels: My favorite team and obvious choice if I want to win now.

                            3. Rockies: Tulo and Cargo. No pitching but Butler, Gray, Dahl, Freeland coming up. Love the NL west teams to play against too

                            4. Mets: Love deGrom and Harvey, some decent prospects like Syndergaard and Nimmo, but their hitting is so blah to me with Cuddyer, Granderson, etc. Love Wright though

                            Thoughts?

To the Twins and Rockies: always felt tempted to use one of those two franchises myself but they have been just too bad the last few years. What I tryed with both of them this year already in a quick Sim is to trade 1 of each teams good prospects for Cole Hamels and relievers. Don't think it would be enough for either team just to get a small postseason chance (?) but still it was cool to see an Ace like Hamels in Rockies or Twins Jerseys.
