The OFFICIAL 2015 OSFM HYBRID THREAD - there is no current ETA

Hi all, although I had really considered walking away at completion of the OSFM, I was talked into sticking around and really how could I not with how great this roster has become.

First off, we will not have an ETA until day of release. We are not being privileged or anything of the sort but we saw what happened around the OSFM threads because of this and the fact that there are a lot of tweaks and twists that happen right up til the end. We want this out sooner than later is about as close to a date as we can give. Any requests for an ETA will probably not be answered.

Second - no negativity will be allowed. Conversation is fine. More than 2 posts from 1 person, is no longer considered conversation though.

I'm sorry for being blunt but we want to keep this thread positive and for good information purposes.

Now - onto the roster itself.

First we are waiting to see if there are substantial corrections made in tomorrow's roster update before truly embarking on the project. If there are, while I really don't want to do this, I will import over the OSFM roster to the update roster before beginning any ratings changes. Unfortunately if I need to do this I will lose Ridin's hard work on SCEA equipment and contracts

Our re-rate this year will more or less focus on SCEA players, because of the great work TEEDS and WTNY did in providing the OSFM creators an updated ratings spreadsheet and the great work the OSFM creators did on the roster making adjustments but not falling out of the scope of our spreadsheet.
For those who have not seen the spreadsheet, I can tell you the ratings look a tad higher than we have had in the past and WTNY has gotten them so accurate it is not funny - this includes the issue this year with pitcher inflation over the course of the career.
Potentials have been lowered slightly from past years as well - but really with the exception of maybe 50 players in the MLB - potential is a shot in the dark at best.

Contracts will be looked at, but with the current sim engine - at least for version 1 we will stick within its confines- adjusting to real life numbers would require 30 team control as well as a lot of manual work through free agency. We will make sure years are correct. We may try to figure out a percentage to use to make it work.

Our roster will be true to the 40 man as usual with injured players in A ball and we will try to adhere to 100% AAA, 90% AA accuracy as we always have.

Also this will be an OD Set this year as opposed to the updated transactions set we have released in the past.

We have many of the usual suspects volunteering to give us a hand this year and if anyone else who has face skills or equipment skills wants to join in - drop us a note.

Thanks as always for you interest.

          Willard and co.

I've loved and used the hybrids over the past couple years, and I have a bit of free time over the next month or so. I would be happy to help out with a few re-rates and do some grunt work if you need it. Just let me know if you'd need any help. Thanks again for all you boys do.

Look into this thread if we wanna keep tabs on updating motions and stances? Seems like a lot of input so far: http://www.operationsports.com/forum...5-stances.html

Any chance you guys would use a less conservative projection system for your ratings? Your projections lower the rankings so much that the new draft picks that enter the game in franchise are already MLB caliber.

You guys use ZIPS right? If I remember correctly they only projected like 3 players (or some other absurdly low number) to hit over .300 last year. That certainly wasn't the case.

I appreciate all the work put into it. Im just trying to figure out what goes into it.

Also, I know PECOTA creates like 10 different projections for players, 10% 20% and so on. What they publish to the public is either the 60-70 percentile projection or something...I'm sure ZIPS or whatever has that same thing. Maybe move it up one on the scale or so.

                    1. This is untrue

                    2. Our ratings are finalized and tested. We're quite happy with the results although people are more than welcome to edit their own copy.

                      Ratings are already finalized?

Wow, didn't think that'd be so soon. Well done guys!

Great stuff. Loved this roster last year, can't wait for this year.

I do apologize if this is buried somewhere, but it's not here so it may be good to ask. I can't for the life of me remember, did you guys release a slider set last year for this roster? Or have a recommended one? Thanks again and love the roster, and willard, I will be praying for your family.

There were a couple of slider sets guys used. Some of it personal preference but with the new stamina, speed and defensive ratings those sliders hopefully can go to the wayside

Willard and I both made slider sets last year. I assume that will happen once again. I will start working on my sliders after the final roster comes out. There's a lot more variety (more sets in the slider subforum) this year already with sliders.
