What is going on!?
I know these updates are not patches and are not supposed to effect the gameplay, but after about 10 matches now in LUT since the patch last week, the game has completely gone to ****. The defensive double team somehow pushes me out to half court and I cannot penetrate or even use a screen because of this ridiculous move that the AI does. It literally teleports my player 5 feet further from the basket than he was and I can do nothing to get by it. I am not only unable to hit a three to save my life, now even 2 footers with my big men who have ratings in the 90's are missing as much as they are making them. My team shooting percentage has gone from 50-55%, down to about 39%. I don't know what EA did, but I have no doubt now that they f*cked up something bad. This game is such horse**** now. I will not be spending anymore money or time on this garbage.Tags: None -
Re: What is going on!?
It's all Synergy's fault.
It explains why we all see different things (and why people think gameplay is being patched constantly).
It's either not implemented well enough or simply not worth the trouble (I suspect the second option).
We need sliders, we need manual settings and to be able to turn off this auto updating junk because it's not only temperamental but likes throwing players from the wrong teams into lineups and having other starters mysteriously MIA.
It's a cop out for devs to try to rely on auto updates for a game they charge for every year. Maybe if you charged once and updated for the next 2 or 3 years, but you offer a game every year, so get it right.Comment

Re: What is going on!?
This **** is such a joke. I just played the LUT coinup challenge against the Charlotte Hornets, not someone's ultimate team, but just the freaking hornets twice. They shot 72% in game 1 and 68% in game 2. Unbelievable. Meanwhile I shot 41% and 39%, so I don't care what anybody tries to claim about these updates because it has definitely ruined the game. Maybe they should stop raising the AI players values for doing nothing in real life, because the one thing that synergy has done has caused all AI players to exploit the cheapest most bull**** crap in the game. I am so sick and f*cking tired of them starting at the 3 point line and gliding through my entire defense untouched for an easy layup, while now EVERY SINGLE F*CKING TIME I go to the hole at all, I get called for a ridiculous charge. Literally, every *** **** time. This game is a joke.Comment

Idk how you play defense, like I said get a video and then maybe some members can help you do better

Re: What is going on!?
I don't play Live Ultimate Team as I only do the Dynasty mode. I can understand the frustration some have with the shooting and I have them as well. However, I want to offer a bit of advice that has worked for me that hopefully will work regardless of what mode you play.
Shooting/3-pointers: Get to know your players. I know the little tip thing before the start of each game says a "great" release shot has a better chance of scoring than an early or late shot but with some players I found releasing the shot a little early or late will improve their chances from mid to long range. I can't explain it but it works for me. For example with Noah Vonleh in my Charlotte Hornets dynasty, if I shoot with him on the run and release the shot "slightly late" 4 out of 5 times he'll make the long range jumper if he's on the sweet spot of the court for him.
Over the course of 44 regular season games, I've learned who on my Hornet dynasty team are good for reliable 3's (Walker, Stephenson, Williams, Roberts, Vonleh and occasionally Jefferson). This is important because not all players are strong enough to shoot 3's. I've thrown enough air balls with Gerald Henderson to know this.
Run Plays: Someone said this to me when I first came on this forum and its probably the most sound piece of advise I got. It opens up shots and allows you to drive to the basket. Run your best team specific play that allows your best player to get open for shots. Again going back to my Hornets dynasty, if I run a play that can get Lance Stephenson open and he takes a quick open shot, whether mid or long range, he makes it more times than not.
Quick Draw: If you have a player open and you pass to him, take the shot as quick as you can. I learned you really need a quick draw because it doesn't take much for an open shot to quickly turn into a guarded or contested one thus instantly decreasing your chances of making it.
Driving to the hole: This one I find to be difficult because on the highest level setting, the CPU makes it very difficult to drive and block many lay up attempts. I usually work from the top of the key when I drive and go for the dunk (rather than the lay up) which usually results in a 3-point play opportunity for me. Another thing I do is back out of the paint to about the 3-point line to give my player space to work. It gets crowded in there making it difficult to move about. If I back out the CPU doesn't follow as close which allows me to reset my play or run a new one.
Hopefully this helps and these are things that have worked for me. I am by no means a veteran to the series (only been playing for a couple months now) so you may have a method that's way better than what I use so go with what works best for you. In closing I do wish they make stealing a little more difficult as I can do that alot (I average about 10 per game) with Kemba Walker being the guy at the forefront. I feel I shouldn't be able to steal the ball from my opponent that many times in a game.Comment

Re: What is going on!?
Oh and one more thing, keep your cool when you're down. I know with me if I'm down and I start to get frustrated, I don't play the game I should be playing which causes me to go down even more. I think that's what caused me to lose so bad to Cleveland (well that and a bad night my team was having).
Play your team the way you usually would if you're up. Eventually the CPU will fall into a rut that will allow you to make a comeback attempt.Comment

The thing is, that before the beginning of April, I would routinely beat all the challenges without much effort, and was able to win by 20 or even 30 points fairly often with only 5 minute quarters. I would usually shoot right around 50% or even 60% in good games. The AI would generally shoot in the 40's.
But since the beginning of this month, I can't hardly even squeak out a win because my shooting has somehow dropped the high 30's while I **** you not, the computer is averaging high 60's even over 70% on a few occasions. I am getting called with a charge EVERY time I even think about driving, and I am even missing WIDE OPEN threes (where the game even shows an open green light as I shoot it) with the best shooters in the game like Steph Curry all star card with 96 rated 3 point shooting!
This has gone on for a couple of weeks now, and I didn't just forget how to play the game. There is undoubtedly, either through intended patch or as a biproduct of constant synergy updates (which oddly the game downloaded the same update multiple times even after it had done it a day or two before already) that make the AI better, a very real and absolutely ridiculous change to the gameplay.Comment

Re: What is going on!?
So for the first time on Tuesday I tried LUT mode. Played the one with Rodman, Moses Malone, Dr. J and other famous 76ers. My team were the default roster of people they gave me. Really didn't pay attention too much just know most of my players had OVRs in the low to mid 60s.
Anyway my team led most of the game by 5. However the last 2 minutes of the game the ref started incessantly calling fouls on my players left and right for charging, even on dunks. Funny enough (or just one major coincidence) charging was only called when my shots scored a basket. However when they missed no fouls were called (for or against). So what should have been 10 points in the last 2 minutes of the game and essentially secured my victory were all for naught. CPU used similar methods to drive to the hole and never were called for charging.
So yeah I gonna stick with Dynasty mode from here on end where it seems everything is on the up & up.Comment

Re: What is going on!?
I've given up on the game now, shooting jumpshots and 3's is impossible where I used to hit my share of guarded and contested shots I can't hit anything and all my points come from drives which is far to easy.
Sliders please EA... sliders for Live 16 is a must.Comment

Re: What is going on!?
Having said that, they have improved the competition from the CPU in term of how they distribute and shoot ball. Unfortunately, overly reducing human shooting success rate takes away from other progress they've made. They have to loosen it up again.Last edited by Calvenn; 04-26-2015, 05:24 PM.Comment

Re: What is going on!?
Yes agreed there are more hitches, and pauses now. And shooting the ball is so damn difficult and just not much fun.
And playing against this new challenge team with Oscar and Schayes is infuriating. I cant hit anything with excellent shooters, while Cousins is flying out of bounds on the baseline and making shots behind the back board....
I think EA has this engine in place that makes it difficult to shoot, score so that its harder to make coins by just playing the games/winning challenges. They want us to simply pay for the coins with real money. And the engine is tied around this fact no matter which mode you play.
EA make your BASE game first, priority one. We pay $60.00 bones for that. Give us our money's worth. Then make these other modes that tie in new purchases. The card system is not bad, but without the gameplay they mean DIDDLY POO.
And if you earn a legend player, allow us to do more with them. Add them to franchise ect. allow us to practice with any player on practice courts so we can learn their moves, shot types.
Sorry for the rant... Just really peeved because I really want to love this game. But cant.Comment
