Also, as much as I love the no zooming to aim, I do wish we could get a decent zoom to just look at the expected landing area. This was what you got in TW11, along with makers for distance and elevation. you just didn't get an aiming reticule, and when you went back to your golfer view, he remained aimed straight ahead.

Knowing the little stuff about how a hole is laid out is something every pro golfer and caddy just knows from lots of experience. I don't think providing a shortcut to that experience is a bad thing.

I will be interesting to see how well the overhead map will work in this regard. But sometimes, knowing where the crest of the hill is will affect how much club you are willing to use to get your ball someplace that gives you a nice view of your next shot. It also might mean you are better off using less club, since you can't get over it, and you might find a better lie somewhere else.

But overall, they've shown enough that as long as the game plays as well, is mostly bug-free, and isn't missing major features, it's an easy buy. Hopefully Country Clubs are not the big missing feature, because it is a great way to find a group of golfers that want to play competitively using the same settings.

I can also see waiting it out to see how soon it hits The Vault in EA Access, but I'm ready for next gen golf now. What I might do is buy this, but wait to upgrade to the next version when it hits the The Vault. Golf just doesn't need to be an annual game. I guess it depends on what they ado the next game to make it compelling.

Does the wind still blow in different directions for online players on the same hole at the same time?
Can you actually drop a ball where you want to after you hit it OB or into the water?

Tour mode doesn't look like anything new, just that they turn the assists off for you rather than having to do it yourself. I do like that from the overhead shot that was offered, you get some yardage markers for various parts of a hole. These have been missing in previous versions and it made playing pretty difficult. That will be handy for anyone wanting a true sim experience.

All that time spent on graphics and player models and club design still sucks. Clubs still looks ginormous.

Swings still look lifeless and herky jerky. Yay for EA Golf!!
