Could say the same for Madden 09 and 10. But now, it just seems dead. It's like, the people who are going to buy it are going to buy it, whatever, but the excitement for it is just dead.

It's like this game has crushed football gamer's spirits. I miss the time when football gaming was exciting and you marked your calender for the new season campaign swirl. But, we had competition in most of those years, so I digress.
I think they market the game much different than the past regimes.

Once the trailer hits and E3 hits, the marketing and hype will ramp back up.

In the Ian days, there were 1 or 2 community days by now, plus, on SB Sunday, they would do a sneak peak on some of the things that would be in the game.

I'm talking about even before E3 or trailers hit though. The anticipation for Madden just doesn't seem like it's strong to me like it was at one time. I can remember years where before even a trailer hit, there was a lot of anticipatory buzz and people posting tons of speculation threads across the net about the game. Today, it just seems rather dead to me by comparison. But there are also millions less people playing Madden today than in 2007. Millions literally have given up on the game since then (and understandably so), so it's going to have an effect on anticipation buzz.

Well, yeah, that was what I was talking about, too. (along with less people buying it)

The marketing and hype train was much earlier, SB Sunday, community days, Ian and Phil taking the plunge and interacting in the forums, etc..... I agree the buzz and the hype appear dead because all that stuff started at the SB.

Lately, the marketing and hype train are much later down the road.

No it's not. It's not just him.

The fan buzz for Madden hasn't been what it used to be in years now. No way is it the same today at this very point as it was with say, Madden 05 or Madden 08. No way.

The game has been a disappointment to a lot of people for years now (hence the millions in units dropped), so of course fanfare behind it has gone down. Madden makes a lot of money from MUT, but units sold over the past few years is WAY down from other times.

I think he's speaking on the matter regardless of when EA begins their marketing blitz. Back with Madden 05-08, they weren't doing much if any interacting on boards or starting anything at the Super Bowl. That came in later years.

Agree, but the buzz doesn't go away when marketing starts up.

Over time, especially a decade, my interest in most video games are fading away.

There's no incentive to get people hype right now. Too far from release. Not only that they want to squeeze all they can out of M15 which is why they put resources into that garbage MUT mode.

Even the most faithful of defenders will start to whither when you are constantly fed information that doesn't live up to its billing year after year after year.

A game that's 35+ gigs. If you can't dazzle me with better animations and football logic, then blow me away with "next-gen" textures, lighting, and shading.

Load up that blu-ray disc. No more games that are similar in size to "last gen" games on the XB1/PS4.

Same here. I love video games, but get bored with most quickly. My main issue with sports' games especially is that they just cannot compete with watching or going to the real thing. I buy Madden or NBA2k or The Show and then always stop playing after a few weeks even if I enjoy the games. I do the same thing with non-sports games, but for some reason I am more willing to come back to those later on and beat the campaign mode again, but not so much pick up where I left off in my franchise or whatever.

My gaming at present consists of getting on GTA 5 for 20-30 mins most days and causing chaos until I get bored.
