Do you plan on buying Rory McIlroy PGA Tour?

I'm just curious where everyone stands at the moment. When I saw that ridiculous trailer with the battleship last year, I thought that EA had lost their minds. There hasn't been any mention of it since then, though, so I'm assuming that it's just some optional rubbish that I don't have to bother with if I don't want to.

I have to admit that the visuals that are being released for Rory's game look pretty damn good and have gotten my attention. I think The Golf Club is fantastic and I've played well over 100 rounds, but being able to compete on some real courses would be a nice change of pace. The Golf Club also isn't the most multiplayer-friendly game out there. I'm hoping that Rory PGA will include some options that will make competing head-to-head a little more engaging.

The removal of the diagonal swing for straight shots that was present in TW 14 is also a big selling point for me. It wasn't very intuitive, and I'm happy to see it's removal.

There's still a lot that we don't know about Rory PGA Tour, but at this point I'm sold on picking it up unless something is uncovered that sways me in the other direction. How do you guys feel?

I'm picking it up for sure. The Golf Club has it's place as does Rory PGA. Like you kind of hinted at in your post TGC is fun for the user generated courses and the like but I do miss playing real courses like St. Andrews, TPC Sawgrass, etc. I miss the career mode as well. Also being able to play legitimate rounds of online golf is something I dearly miss from TW14.

Yup, had my preorder set from GameStop for a few months already. Course list is looking great so far. Hoping to see what the presentation is going to be like and maybe for some off screan footage from e3

I really like the gameplay customization options.

Plus, the first EA Sports Golf game for the new generation always delivers in terms of graphical pop.

I need to see some real actual gameplay footage, and a few positive reviews would be nice. At this point, I'm probably split 50/50. A nice, long final list of courses would sway the decision for sure. With The Golf Club and all the wonderful enhancements that have been made/are coming in this update/next update I really need to be wowed by anything EA makes. I've finally had a chance to see the grass on the other side of the fence and it really is a much deeper shade of green.

Day one for me if it had move support. I know I'm in the minority, but I love Tiger 13 with the move, in fact I just purchased 14 on ebay and its arriving today. I was hoping TGC or RMPT would implement it but that looks like it won't be the case.

I haven't seen nearly enough information to convince me to buy it yet. If it doesn't have a playable presentation option other than follow camera, I know I won't buy it. I don't like follow camera when it's done well. Tiger 14's follow camera was the worst of the series and that's what soured me on it early on, even before the required diagonal swing interface in the two highest difficulty modes. The broadcast presentation mode of Tiger 14 was stupendously bad in the low and distant angles it took and to add insult to injury, it cut to them at the moment of impact. There was no chance to savor your shot from the golfer's perpective with it like Tiger 10, for example.

RMPAGT gives me a sense that it will have some personality and I know it's live multiplayer will likely be pretty dynamic. I hope it's swing interface requires something in the way of tempo modulation for power and accuracy. I think a vertically tracked interface can provide a realistically scaled challenge as long as it does factor tempo into the equation. Tiger Woods 10 seemed to have a challenging swing interface in that sense if you narrowed the club sweetspot percentage down into the upper teens (from the 35 to 50% to which they defaulted).

The screenshots look fantastic though and I like the fact that they're adding life to the entire course. I hope they also have the connected tournament feature of Tiger 14, which I'd have gotten a lot more out of if I'd have had Tiger 13's True-Aim view and Tiger 10's upper teen percentage sweetspot swing interface to play it with.

It is my understanding that the diagonal swing is still in as an option......but likely not the default swing for Tour difficulty.

I will be buying this day one because for once in a LONG TIME we have compelling options and choices for videogame Golf.....

I'm not buying it or any of the DLC courses but it is in my GameFly Q. Just can't spend $60+ on this when I know TGC will still get most of my golf gaming time. The graphics look great but, I haven't seen anything that shows me that the gameplay will be better then TGC, which has the best console golf gameplay I've ever experienced.

Was it not mentioned somewhere that you would have execute a diagonal swing path if you were trying to play a draw or a fade, in proportion to the degree of fade/slice or draw/hook you were trying to play? This would make sense if it was constrained to the Tour difficulty level, but I would think it would frustrate those playing the arcade stick mode (forgot what it's called now) if it had to be used there. That mode will use post shot spin for hooks and slices, I would think?
