This is all about the popularity of the USWNT in America (myself included), and less a statement about women's sports in general, to me. Whatever they spent adding these teams has probably already been paid for by all of the internet buzz and word of mouth publicity this has received.

This strikes me as a marketing disaster. Adding women's teams is great, but if you're going to do that then why not just do a separate Women's World Cup title? FIFA's market is predominantly outside the US where women's football is nowhere near as big as it is in the States. You're going to antagonize the hard-core fans of the series all over the world who (quite rightly) want fixes and improvements to the existing engine (handballs, anyone?) and see this as diverting resources. At the same time I doubt too many US tween girls are going to plunk down $60 for a full FIFA title just to play exhibition matches with 12 women's teams. In the end nobody is really happy and the bottom line probably doesn't match the increased licenses.

I'm mixed about this. This is great for women and since the World Cup is this year but for me it does nothing and I most likely won't be using this mode.

Cool addition, but why not let them compete with the men's teams on the game? Equality, right?

Wonder if we can create women players in Pro Clubs. I highly doubt it, but it'd be a cool feature.

So does this mean Messi Neymar, etc. will have theirs this year? Would be absolutely awesome if they did

I think neck area tattoos always get included with the facial scans (I've noticed Song and Lavezzi with them in both 14 and 15), I didn't notice any of the arm tattoos though.

Right. A new team that could have been used to improve another area in desperate need of improvement. Make no mistake, I'm not a Women's Sports ***** or anything of the sort. That said, as I said in my original post, as a species girls/women are rarely gamers. That's a fact. How many women are here at OS? Not many it seems.
So why then take time away from what needs addressing to add in a feature that on the surface seems doomed to failure due to lack of interest. Maybe I'm wrong and FIFA 16 will be a huge hit with the girls at the nail salon(I kid, I couldn't resist)
But seriously maybe the feature will be a huge hit. If it is I'll be the first to admit I was wrong, but I still stand by my statements that adding women's teams is a waste of time and resources when so many other areas, that are heavily used I might add, need attention.

There are only a few ignorant comments here and there, but I don't consider it a problem.


The problem is some guys, myself included, feel that the resources that EA has at its disposal are not being used correctly. I mean, when you're fixing up a car and the engine sounds funky, you don't go and replace tire and hope everything is fixed. There should be other things on the 'fix list' than adding a completely new and irrelevant feature. The Youth Scouting network needs overhaul, more international teams, newer leagues, defensive AI needs tweaking. This women's soccer feature caught a lot of people off guard, but it's nothing more than a marketing scheme to attract more women gamers. Personally, I don't think it will work.

I just disagree that this was a huge undertaking that's sucking huge amounts of time away from other things, that's all. They are working on plenty of other things. Will they fix all of the issues that you want to see fixed? Probably not, gamers like you have very high standards, and I'm sorry to say, but you aren't the ones they gear this game towards. You're already buying the game. They have you.

Personally I play FIFA because it's fun, and a pretty damn good representation of the sport. When I want a real in-depth managerial experience, I play FM.

You know just as I do that's a study most likely skewed by mobile and social games completely unrelated to the console type gamer(regardless of what the article insinuates). That said, Imwas surprised by the results.

That's probably true. I think one of the other surveys said that something like 80% of female gamers use the Wii as their main platform, so it is indeed difficult to know how significant their presence is on PS4/XBox One, etc.
