It's obvious player editing is not in the game. They have dodged the question a lot.

They may be dodging it - because they're working on it.

You can't say something is either IN or it ISN'T and then flip flop either way.

I don't think it has anything to do with the NCAA lawsuit. The game has the proper licences.

Yeah, I have a hard time believing it's due to the NCAA lawsuits. That was a different animal. That was "infringing" on a person's individual likeness who wasn't being compensated.


There is a rights feel likely paid to the NHLPA that compensates them for their likeness in the game.


That being said, it could be their reason. NBA Live didn't have it. Madden doesn't. Fifa doesn't (to my knowledge), and NHL now doesn't. So, maybe that is their reason?


Was someone seriously asking about Zamboni racing?


I'm SO GLAD to hear in game Sims and intervention is back in Be A GM. I enjoy playing GM mode, I just cant play it in shortened seasons though, and 82 games takes forever to get through. Sometimes it's just nice to sim to the third period and try and wrap it up from there. Had some awesome challenges in the past down 2 or something going into the 3rd and dropping in to the game to try and pull off a comeback. Really happy that's back.


I want player editing back, mostly because I don't agree with their ratings a lot of the time. It won't be a dealbreaker for me, but it will hurt.


Having a lot of the modes back, and GM mode getting back up to snuff though really helps me with this game.


Lots of time between now and launch though, so hopefully we keep hearing more positives.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, one of the best things they can do for this franchise (and make ALL of us happy over here at OS) is to add roster sharing a la NBA 2k and Madden. Obviously edit player would have to be in the game (and hopefully improved) but I think this would be an outstanding feature for EA to add.

With the player editing, they might be worried we'll make our favorite college players or even NHL legends not in the NHLPA.
But Nordqiues is right, they are big fans. But if they have Whaler shirts, they should want to put create a team back in so I can be the Whalers!

Can I ask you guys a question? I'm not trying to be rude or troll or anything, but why is player editing such a priority for you guys? I'd like player editing as well but it's not that big of a deal to me. I just want the gameplay to be improved as much as possible every year because it's not realistic enough as of right now.

As far as player differentiation goes, I'd rather have the devs invest in character traits instead of just getting their equipment right. i.e. I wanna see Crosby skate differently than Chara; Kane, Hossa, Kadri, Eberle, etc would have different puck handling animations than anyone who isn't known for their puck handling... etc.

We like to tweak the game to be exactly what we like.

For the Revamped Rosters, we create more separation between players. A lot of us feel that John Scott plays the same way Sidney Crosby does. And if you decrease John Scott's attributes, he cannot do sweet moves and he will play much sloppier - just like real life.

i hope they fix their menus cause there so slow. especially when u save a file it takes forever. i hope EA takes a look at mlb the show and learn. in mlb the show u save a file and get from game to another within seconds.

I'm sure they're working on it. Ask EA is just a sort of poll to see what is the most requested. Those guys want what we want in the game. But sometimes if the big boss say no, it's no. Maybe it's not enough resources or money.

At E3 for NHL 14, the producer was wearing a Hartford Whalers T-Shirt. I mean that guy is a fan, trust me.

The Zamboni race, someone asked for it. I mean, Come on !

I don't question whether they are hockey fans or not or whether they want the same features we do. But I know I have personally asked a question about editing about a dozen times now, and several people here have done the same and it is being glossed over. I am willing to bet my next paycheck that Zamboni racing wasn't nearly asked about as much as editing was.

I don't blame the dev's in any game when features are or aren't included, most dev's are gamers just like us and want their games to be the best. I know how big corporations are run I work for one. But skipping over the most popular questions is a problem. If the answer is no just tell us it's no so we don't expect it all summer long.

For a lot of us it's not about editing names or creating past players. It's more about editing the ratings of players. The first thing I used to do before even playing the game was download the Revamped Rosters and tweak them slightly to my liking. The ratings that ship with sports games are often completely overpowered and make every team almost equal in performance you never get that separation that you see in real life.

But further to my point - they dodged the EASHL and OTP questions, only to release OTP in a patch later in the year.

This could be a similar situation - the pieces might be in place, but it's not up to their standards quite yet.

Not likely. That all costs $$$ for the rights.
