Was it ever explained why we lost these after 2k11. Regardless of whether or not myplayer went in a different direction, these things clearly had a place in association. So did any 2k member ever address why they were removed? At least with crew we knew it was because of glitchers

I do not recall seeing a reason. In truth, there was so, so much potential there. There were clear problems with 2K's initial implementations of each, but there were also clear solutions.
For starters, as mentioned, each of those aspects were initially forced on gamers in full the first time around. I cannot recall the exact number of games, but I do remember Training Camp getting a bit repetitious. Allowing gamers to simulate at their leisure would have solved that issue.
An ability to edit and upload D-League rosters would have been incredible. Obviously, getting player rights of guys who may only be in the D-League for a fleeting moment could be tough, but giving control to the gamers would have been outstanding (a la MVP Baseball 2005). If gamers want their D-League teammates to be generic William Jones and David Johnson, cool. But I think there's many others who'd dig really playing alongside Willie Reed and Hasheem Thabeet with the Grand Rapids Drive.
And Summer League? Such potential. 2K had all practice jerseys created and included at one point (not sure if they still do). Perfect time to get some use out of them outside of random practice sessions. Having the legit Orlando League and Rocky Mountain Revue would be such stellar little details.
If only they'd built off of what they'd created in that regard instead of tearing it all down.Comment

I think it was the same reason the halftime show got taken away, there wasn't enough players using it, which is horrible logic IMO but its what 2k does, anything that's not popular will be taken away eventually.
I haven't enjoyed an association since the d league was taken out because it leads to most 2nd round players being released to the free agency in the 2nd year of the season because they have no wear to go to develop, and the computer has to make room for the up coming free agents.Comment

I really hope this wasn't the logic, because a simpler solution would just be allow you to sim through that period instead of removing it entirely to the detriment of people who liked it and thought it made the mode more realistic (which it did)Comment
