The E3 Recap: Biggest Surprises and Disappointments...

E3 is now behind us, and we now know a lot more than we did a week ago about many titles. From Joe Montana's status as a mobile game, to NBA LIve looking somewhat impressive, to Madden finally getting serious about many legacy issues -- we've got a lot to cheer about at E3. But also, we have a few concerns which popped up during the show. Check out our lists after the jump!

I'm actually more interested in playing Rory McElroy coming out of E3 than I was going into it. I had a chance to play a couple of the Night Club challenges and found them pretty engaging and honest-to-goodness fun.

That said, I also only have a passing interest in golf, so I'm probably the wrong person to talk about how realistic it is.

Most exciting - Madden 16 news has me hyped up for August, and backwards compatibility (hopefully with many classic sports games).

Biggest surprise - NBA Live 16 app to scan face into game. Not only that, but Live 16 had the balls to call out the NBA 2K juggernaut. In the least, NBA Live may give 2K a run for their money for the next few years.

Biggest disappointment - The amount of golfers and courses in Rory McIlroy PGA Tour
As the lovely username suggests, yes I am a Braves fan and a Vols fan.

When was the last time we had a solid Tennis entry? It's been a few years now hasn't it?

Most Exciting - To see EA finally admitting and "addressing" the issues with their sports titles(IDK about PGA). NFS looks bloody smashing.

Biggest Surprise - NBA LiVe 16 looks very playable and for the first time in 6 years I MIGHT have two NBA titles on the shelf. In 2 years I think we might have some serious decisions to make if 2K's online and control issues persist.

Biggest Disappointment - The same thing that should be at the top of every OS members list. Joe Mont... I wont even finish the thought.
Playing NBA 2K feels like a job that pays minimum wage and then cuts your pay when you get your Bill's right to make it even harder to succeed. I do not like this game but it's the only one in town.

At cheese, I'm trash. At basketball, I'm great!

Biggest disappointment by far for me personally was Joe Montana 16. A crushing blow for football gaming when we thought there was hope. I know it may come for PC which is something I wanted, but porting a mobile game to PC is the equivelant of playing a browser game, that is not PC gaming, that is a Facebook game.

As far as I can tell, the last entries to the Top Spin and Virtua Tennis series both were in 2011.

Mario Power Tennis is due out late this year for Wii U, but I don't know whether the OS audience is one that pays attention to the Mario Tennis series.

Tennis Elbow 2013 is the most recent one that was any good:

Created by and for tennis fans, Tennis Elbow 2013 is a tennis simulation with an easy and intuitive learning curve, but with exceptional gameplay depth.

It has no licenses but can be easily modded to add real-word venues and recreate any modern-day players you'd want to use.
