any helpful tips for a PES beginner?

Just recently switched to PES and loving every second of the game play. Just want to see if there's anything I should know that would help my experience? I'm mostly going to be playing Master League so any tips for that mode would be helpful.

I'm still learning from the game, offense is improving but coming from FIFA my defense needs a lot of work still.

Best thing to do is try to play it without playing like you would play FIFA, (if that makes any sense).

I would turn all the assists off, passing and shooting and you will get a lot more fun out of it. Start out on Professional difficulty and slowly work your way up.

Double tap x for tackling without sliding, but be careful to get your timing right or you will get called for a foul. That's all that comes to mind for now. Enjoy yourself. For a change of pace try playing coach mode. I have been all weekend.

I would actually advice him to lower assists only when he's really good, and also not all at once, but getting used to each level.
Also, I believe that Top Player is the worst level, and you probably should play on Professional and when you rip teams apart, move straight up to Superstar, it'll be tough at first, but you'll get the hang of it quite quickly.

Also, my advise for defense is not charge too much, especially considering the stamina bar drains very quickly.
And really my biggest advice is doing a master league with a big team once in a while, to have fun signing amazing players.

Thanks for the input, learned the hard way charging on defense. CPU ends up killing me every time. I need to break all my FIFA habits. I'm having a blast either way, I'm glad I made the switch.

Top Player is my niche for ML & BAL. I'm not good enough to play on Superstar although I always use mid-to-bottom level clubs.

Top player is my least favorite level, so I play on professional at home and superstar away.
I just played an exhibition between colombia and argentina (copa america knock outs) on top player, and in 10 minutes, argentina scored 3(!) goals... It's not that I'm that bad, and it a was very weird game.

Hey im a beginner to on xbox and im wondering what is the control to steal a ball from the opponent? is it x? cause it says x is to clear, so im guessing its not?

or Is the only way to steal a ball is to put pressure? whats the difference between normal pressure and chasing the ball?

can anyone help? still not sure how to steal a ball in this game.

I'm on PS4 and I change my controller layout to mimic FIFA but you have to double-tap the tackle button to actually make the tackle. Holding down that button will make your player gravitate towards the man with the ball.

but it still steals the ball from the opponent right? (the pressure button and the chase down)

If you are using both at the same time, your chance of stealing is high, yes. One of you will wrangle the ball from the cpu player, or get in line of a pass to intercept. If its just you 1v1, double tapping makes you do a lunge tackle to knock the ball away. If you just hold it, its a matter of having the perfect angel for the player to take the ball off the other player. I tend to use the double tap to make sure I knock it away from the opposing player. Which creates a free ball situation more times than not. But be careful you don't do it from behind, or you will get called for a fouls.

Also don't use teammate pressure constantly. Or you leave other opposing players open for easy passes in space, which will break down your defense and hurt you causing easy goals against you.

so chase down is just pressure button with sprint right? when you say if you just hold it, are you talking about the pressure button or is their another button im not familiar with? because my A button is used for tackle (if you double click) and pressure.

                          thanks by the way

A is chase down, if you hold it. And auto tackle if you are close enough in the right situation. But from holding it down, a tackle is not guaranteed. You then double tap A to do a manual tackle. B is the pressure button from a teammate. Holding A and B will do the double pressure. You and the teammate chase down and pressure for a tackle. Double tapping B and holding it will cause two teammates do this this, not just the one.
