The Victors Reborn // A Michigan Wolverines Dynasty (NCAA 14)

Despite the fact that college football won't begin for two months, at this point in the year I'm all hyped for the CFB Season. Spring practices and games are happening, recruits are signing with college teams, and most importantly, the nation's best college players are selected in the annual NFL Draft.

The Michigan Wolverines were a trainwreck during the 2014 season, with all the ridicule and controversy after a dismal 5-7 season. My job is to reverse the tide, before it all happened. Due to this, I will create my own head coach, replacing former head coach Brady Hoke. Without further ado, let's get the ball rolling!

      2014:
      Prestige: ******
      Preseason Ranking: 45
      Final Ranking: 9
Bowl Game: Texas A&M 9, Michigan 49 (TaxSlayer Gator Bowl)
Award Winners: Jake Ryan (Bednarik, LB of the Year, Nagurski), Ryan Glasgow (Lombardi), Jabrill Peppers (Returner of the Year)

      Summary:
With low expectations coming into the season, new head coach Darien Landry provided a much-needed winning atmosphere back into Ann Arbor. After winning against FCS Southeast in a big blowout, Michigan jumped back into the national stage by upsetting #8 Notre Dame on Devin Gardner's heroics. After some more convincing wins, Michigan vaulted up the polls all the way up to #6. However, their contention hopes were flattened when Minnesota upsetted Michigan in overtime, 41-38. The Wolverines soon went on a rampage, winning 4 games in a row, including a huge upset over #7 Michigan State to bring Paul Bunyan back to A2. After a close loss to Rutgers and a beatdown on #24 Northwestern, Michigan lost to Ohio State in an embarrassing showing. Closing out the season strong, Michigan was able to blow out Kenny Hill and Texas A&M, 49-9.

Landry hired as Michigan head coach; A new era of Michigan Football?

Ann Arbor, MI - Is this the start of a new era of Wolverines football?

In a surprising move, Michigan has fired head coach Brady Hoke after three successful seasons in which Michigan has gone to the Sugar Bowl in 2011, the Outback Bowl in 2012, and the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl in 2013.

His replacement? A former Michigan alum by the name of Darien Landry.

I know what you're thinking. Who is this guy? Well, I'll give you a backstory.

Landry is a former football player who had huge aspirations. A former five-star recruit, Landry had decided to come to Michigan as a quarterback at the end of the Lloyd Carr regime. However, that dream fizzled when during fall practice in his sophomore year, when he suffered a serious injury and was forced to sign a medical scholarship to end his football career.

After graduating from the University of Michigan, he worked as a graduate assistant head coach under Rich Rodriguez. After the Rodriguez era failed miserably, he found a job as part of the UCLA staff in 2011. Soon after, he joined the Florida State coaching staff, and won a championship with the team in 2013.

What made him a good candidate is his leadership and attitude, not to mention he's also a Michigan Man. With a winner's mentality and the guidance of prestigious coaches, he has the potential to be a great coach for the Wolverines.

Here is what two former players had to say about him:

"I like the fact that he has a fun-loving attitude, and what makes him better is that he demands respect from his peers. He makes everyone better around him, and he's a good time." - Mike Hart, former Michigan RB (2004-2007)

"I got a chance to speak with him, and he's a great person to be around. He had a bright future that was cut short, but that's old news. As a coach, I wish him the best of luck." - Jim Harbaugh, current coach of the San Francisco 49ers

Time will tell if Darien Landry's name will be seen in Coach of the Year ballots, but be on the lookout if he brings Michigan to the promised land as early as this year.

Re: The Victors Reborn - A Michigan Wolverines Dynasty (NCAA 14)

Here are a couple of quick facts and house rules about this dynasty, which will come along slowly:

                    - Coach Mode - Since I will be using the head coach, I will be calling the plays from the sidelines and let my players do their thing to authenticate the coach experience. The plays I call has a say in possible outcomes, and too many times I have been too good on Heisman difficulty.

                    - Recruiting Restrictions - This will be somewhat of a challenge, as I like signing classes of 25 every year. Here are the restrictions, limited due to Michigan being a 6-star prestige:

-Leaving Seniors +2: A common house rule, I look at how many seniors are leaving and add two more to my recruiting board. Not only is that going to eliminate oversigning, it adds a fallback plan in case someone decides to transfer.

-Walk-ons: If I happen to have walk-ons, I will determine if they will be cut or not depending on their system fit or overall rating.

-Scouting: The only time I will scout players is after a recruit signs to the program. With scouting, it's easy to find gems and go after them. With this, there's added excitement of when I get to see their true ratings.

-Interest: I can only target players that have me in their Top 10. If there is no definite interest, then I will not go after them. This is limited to only three players with me outside their top 10.

-Pipelines: Michigan has been known for having pipelines in Michigan (obviously), Ohio, California, Florida, and Texas. I will probably restrict recruiting to these areas.

-Canadians: Because Michigan is very close to Canada, I will recruit one Canadian every year. Canada's bound to have a diamond in the rough, right?

                    - Brand New System - Michigan has been known for traditionally having a pro-style offense and a 4-3 defense. However, in this dynasty, I will be going through my ups and downs of a power spread offense, similar to what Ohio State (ugh, but yes) runs. Many Michigan fans are disgusted by hearing about what Rich Rodriguez had done with the spread offense at Michigan, but this playbook is not gimmicky.

On the defensive side of the ball, I will run a 4-3 multiple defense based off Florida and its use of an edge rusher (Dante Fowler).

Alright, I believe that's all I have for now.

And in case you didn't know, you are now free to post!

Born and raised in a city that produced athletes Graham Harrell, Shelby Miller, and Kenny Vaccaro, Eddie Scott is a very talented prospect. Not recruited by Brady Hoke during his tenure, new coach Darien Landry has Scott as his #1 target. With NFL size at 6'4" and 227 pounds, Scott looks the part of a pocket quarterback. Combine that with lethal athleticism and a cannon arm, he is the complete package and a perfect fit in Michigan's multiple offense. His accuracy has been questioned, however, and his decision-making is inconsistent. As a dual-threat quarterback, expect him to find an offense that will utilize his gifted talents.

I refreshed the first page designs, and I'm all ready to go!

Before the season starts, however, I will have some headlines coming up tomorrow. B1G changes are being made!
