Re: Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR Trial Available Now on EA Access, Post Your Impressions
I've played 3 click golf, and it resembles my personal golf game. I actually hit a ball out of bounds with a snap hook. I'm 42 years old so my reflexes may be slowing down, so this may explain why it's more difficult to 3 putt golf for me. What I like about the missed hits, the camera swings to the poor side you hit the ball so you know and kind of see where the ball is heading. I really like that. Also on bad swings you see a colour on the swing plain to know you've hit a hook or a fade on a bad shot.
This is what I would like to see more out of the analog swing mode. Let variations in the swing mean more for misses right and left. This would really cause you to focus on get the club squared at impact, and if you didn't, you would be penalized.
Also bunkers and chip shots are way too easy. You don't need to be creative to get a good shot, pull back and push forward and you will chip in or stick it closes
I miss the foot placement they had In recent years and the second aim ball is hurting my heart. Let me hold the position on the ball strike ball and if it move while I swing, it could lead to a bad shot.
Let me see an accuracy meter that will help lead to bad shots, not just long or short.
I hope these can be add to the beautiful looking golf game.Last edited by mike24forever; 07-12-2015, 06:21 PM.I am the lesson after the fall.Comment

No, someone claimed there was only 6 LICENSED COURSES in the game and that is not true. There are 9 if you include Scottsdale.
We do not know how many tournaments are in the game right now and won't know until we know what their plans are for DLC content and we should have some idea come Tuesday or right after launch.PC / Xbox One X

Just played a round at The Wetlands. Man... sure is nice to see an EA fantasy course resemble a real golf course. I know I wont like Paracel, but hopefully lighthouse cove and the grand canyon one are similar. If they are, I have no issue with them being "fantasy courses" They aren't fantasy, just... artificial. I said that back when the course list came out... as long as they resemble an actual golf course, I'll be happy. So far, I'm one for one.Miami Dolphins - Detroit Red Wings - Toronto Blue Jays - Michigan Wolverines - CANADAComment

The thing is, it does obviously have some serious shortcomings but I find myself really wanting to play it. I've been pretty busy with life but in the back of my mind I'm wanting to play so there's definitely something there.2016 NLL Champion Saskatchewan Rush

Yep if you're not expecting much but building players, even if he doesn't resemble myself, and playing through some matches on some pretty courses with fun golf and dont mind waiting for the DLC or whatever they have planned as support then its a fun game.
I am curious to see where they take it over the next two years before releasing another version.
I wasn't married to any previous version so I dont miss all the stuff -as barren as it is of content currently - so to me it's worth the money.
I really am enjoying being on the courseLast edited by Klocker; 07-12-2015, 05:12 AM.Comment

I can safely say that having just got back from shooting a real life 99, I am appreciating being able to shoot under par rounds on this game! It has grown on me a lot since first getting it..just takes some time!

In the past EA have never had a problem getting the licences for their tw series so why have they suddenly started to run into issues. Or are they just saving money by not negotiating for any.
I have always found EA strong point being their presentation of sports games as being a representation of reality. They seek to immerse the player in the ersatz real world. I am a massive fan of the FIFA series and am currently playing career mode on the ps4. It's an amazing experience because it's so accurate and real in many ways. The presentation in the UK is from our Sky sports perspective even using their commentary and studio teams.
PES is simply ludicrous at the side of FIFA as it uses rediculous team names. The great draw for me with TW was that it did exactly the same as FIFA. Now it appears EA have slimmed down their approach and one must ask why?
I remember playing pointless rounds of golf on the PC on games like links. They looked marvellous but the game was boring. The same has to be said with TGC. It's a derivation of all of those endless boring PC golf games. There is nothing on TGC to immerse the player in.
I have preordered RMG as I love golf games. I only hope that EA can get their act together and provide the immersive experience that FIFA does. EA really don't seem committed to this game at this stage. F1 2015 on the ps4 is an unfinished game. It's unpolished and not really up to next gen standards. I really want RMG not to be the same.Comment

I see the player creation is very limited in videos on youtube. Do we think they will implement game face can tech like NBA Live 16 coming in september? Surely EA can share tech between titles? Simple add on.

Re: Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR Trial Available Now on EA Access, Post Your Impressions
Here's the deal. Not baffling at all if you understand NG game design and the decisions being made in this game market today. The RM Tiburon Golf Team is likely smaller than the TW14 Tiburon Team. The budget is likely smaller because they lost their @ss on TW14 commercially.
Moving to Frostbite 3 was a resource intensive and expensive move, but one that HAD to be made. The old TW engine was 10 years old and had 9 versions with features added, subtracted, etc. It was held together with baling wire and TW14 had glaring patch issues that EA finally gave up on and walked away from.
What have they been doing for 2 years? You would have to ask HANDSWARD, but I doubt he would go into any sort of detail. Since I have had a relationship with EA for the past 15+ years and I have been on the inside of the Golf operation, I will tell you what I think happened.
As I stated above, the Frostbite 3 transition did not come overnight. The staff had to be trained and brought up to speed on the new engine as it was unfamiliar to them. Then they began to learn how to build assets like what they had in TW that they wanted to bring over as well as new assets. All new Mo-cap sessions, etc. Rebuilding each course in FB3 and transitioning the laser scans and artwork from each course to the new engine. These guys work 12-14 hour days. They, like many teams at EA are being asked to do more with less. They set out on a plan to deliver a certain amount of content and they either reached that plan or didn't. NG games take up more resources both in time, people and money than ever before and Devs and Publishers are trying their best to do less with more. I believe this is why we are seeing the initial games coming out with less content than their predecessors. I did not in any way think RM would match or even come close to matching the features or courses that TW14 did. In all honesty, I did think they would have brought more content and polish than what we have. However, I am hopeful they will bring forth the kind of support that we are not accustomed to by supporting and updating this game with the content we have been accustomed to.
IMO, this game has NONE of the problems from TW. They have similar design decisions, but bugs and issues from Tiger are not there. The lack of a playoff is a design decision that has legal implications as described above. Does TGC have a playoff? Are you chastising them for their Season mode that came out broken on the Xbox causing users not to be able to play it? I like TGC and have over 500 rounds of play invested in it. There are many who claim RM is not a NG title. Just as many say the same about TGC. They are different approaches to the game of Golf. Sorry to draw TGC in here for this discussion, I just had to draw one parallel to compare.
At the end of the day, why can't people just accept the fact that opinions about ANYTHING, much less Golf games are SUBJECTIVE and PERSONAL. You think EA dropped the ball on RM. That is your opinion and others agree. But I would say its 50/50 on those who like versus don't. I can somewhat understand the exasperation over RM's lack of content and I hope this helps explain what may be going on from someone who has been on the inside and has some perspective on the situation. Hang in there, I think the game has a good foundation and the great thing about FB3, is it is a VERY scalable engine that is light years better than the old TW engine and the best is yet to come IMO.Xbox live: Nat3dAWg
