Lets talk "in form" cards. Should they be in MLB 16?

Too Long, Didn't Read: Vote in the poll above. Should this game have special versions of cards with increased stats?

If you've played any other "Ultimate Team" mode other than The Show, they all have "in form" cards. They are cards that have a different color and have improved stats. They are rewarded when a player does well a certain week or for other reasons and they only can be pulled from packs.

SCEA has already stated they aren't doing that with this game this year. But should they change their stance for next year?

As you all know, team build variety is somewhat limited in this game. There aren't that many options at the elite level in baseball. So people's teams look very similar. For instance, there's a lack of elite center fielders in the game. At higher skill levels, you will see people using the exact same 3-5 CF (Trout, McCutcheon, etc).

I think they could actually do in forms without it ruining the game like in Madden 15 or NBA 2k15. Ideas are the following:

    1. Rookie or career versions of cards. A rookie card would have lower stats in general but have a higher stat in other areas. Or a card capturing a certain player's era. Think rookie Ichiro (back when he was the best contact hitter in baseball) or Athletics Mark McGuire.

    2. Player of the Week cards. This could work assuming that they balance them well. Fifa manages to do them well every year. On the flip side, they ruined Madden and 2k NBA's mode. If SCEA doesn't go crazy with the stat upgrades, I think it could work well. And this doesn't mean they have to stop adjusting cards each week. They could do this and still change card ratings every week for the basic MLB cards.

    3. Single Performance cards. Cards for players who had an amazing performance one night or over a period of time and thus have a card that match their performance. Think home run race Sammy Sosa. Or Denard Span's game where he hit 3 triples in one game. A card that reflects that.

    4. Female legends in DD only. A girl can dream for the impossible, right?

No, this would harm the game mode.

voted no. I think they have it right the way they have it setup now. there is no need for multiple cards for the same player, it's just a reason to have overrated cards that ruin the game.

as far as I'm concerned DD is much better than MyTeam and Ultimate Team, no need to do anything to make it more like those modes.

I voted no because I actually like the current system. With in form cards and stuff the market would get harder to navigate with so many cards out there, and it'd be a lot harder to collect all the cards you want.

Definitely a no. Just because Jay Bruce goes 3 for 4 on a random Tuesday doesn't mean he should get a new gold tiered card based on 1 nights performance. That's the main reason MUT is awful. 37 cards for each player ranging in overal values from 74 to 99? No thank you

It would sort of be like bringing back the generic DD cards.

The only thing i want is a lot more legends and throwback cards. Madden and 2k have it partially right with the amount of legends but there should not be 10 of one card. (I'm looking at you MJ)

Lost me at female legends lol.

Current system is fine. I don't want more cards but I would like some sort of numerical cap total for building teams.

Agreed we need to just have more options at Legends.....Having 3-5 Legends for each team would allow fans to build it with there favorite all time guys and current. So many legends are not being used its a waste. On the sony end its more money for them. And for us we can just expand our love for a game we all play religiously all year. Also make the fielding penalties higher when you play out of position. We would hopefully never face the same half a team ever again with so many options.

i hate multiple cards for 1 player like nba2k does it. heck in that game you could pretty much field all michael Jordans if you managed to get all the different "in Form" cards.

imagine they had them in this game? might as well just field all mike trouts then.

Re: Lets talk "in form" cards. Should they be in MLB 16?

in form cards would only work if its something that isn't frequent... for example in the "Month Topps 50" packs where the 50 best performers for the month are the only cards available in the pool maybe have a special card for each Player, Pitcher and Rookie of the Month for that month and those cards would only be available in that pack or on the marketplace... I.E. Bryce Harper in May and Giancarlo Stanton in June could have "99 rated cards" for player of the month but their normal cards which are currently 94's would still be subject to ratings changes with the weekly roster updates

definitely would love nothing more than to get these same legends brought back next season along with 1-2 new legends per team... preferably if these same legends come back and we get 1 new legend per team I'd like for the legend to be opposite of what we got this year... I.E. we got Tom Seaver for my Mets this year so next years legend could be Keith Hernandez, Gary Carter, Darryl Strawberry or Mike Piazza...

as far as females the only way I can see that working is if MLB The Show gets licensing to include "fictional" characters... maybe they can get the licensing to "A League Of Their Own" and other baseball movies/shows but that's what the DD Player is for... maybe they can add an option to create a female player

I voted 'no.' Based on my FUT experiences, I would rather players be automatically upgraded rather than chasing the most recently updated version of a player's card. Different versions of player card just screams money grab to me personally.

Female hall of famers from the past. Dorothy Kamenshek for instance.

I mentioned it as a joke that won't happen but I'd still love to have female players in this game.
