Re: Some New Madden NFL 16 Screenshots
This is neither here nor there, but I am reasonably positive that every PS2-era Madden and NCAA Football game from 2003 onward had mouthpieces. Nevertheless, they've been absent from the EA Sports football games since the jump to XBOX 360, and that point doesn't really invalidate the spirit of your post.
As to relative priority levels of equipment - I'm reasonably positive that if in an alternate universe it was publicly revealed that this year's WR/DB interaction rebuild and gameplay mechanics or penalties overhaul was cut from Madden NFL 16 in favor of updating equipment, adding mouthpieces, and other purely cosmetic flair, the vast majority of this forum would throw a fit and question Tiburon's priorities.
Just my opinion, but I think Tiburon is correct in holding core gameplay as higher priority over authenticity-enhancing eye candy. Granted, I also don't think that Tiburon is helplessly incompetent and my opinion is that the game has actually dramatically improved in quality across the board over the course of time, so take my opinion how you will.Comment

Re: Some New Madden NFL 16 Screenshots
My thing with the equipment update (which is needed ) by the way. Ea seems to do things that doesn't make sense. Like for example we been hollering about new equipment for YEARS. But ea decides to update the crowd and give us female fans and put nfl films gear on the sideline crew. Also update the hot and cold weather gear on them as well. Thats all well and good but then not updated the gear on the players. Makes no sense. SmhComment

You might have not noticed, but on these OS forums alone, people have been b*tching about the crowd, cameramen wearing shorts in the snow, etc for a while now. So in EA's defense ... they fix something that people have been vocal about, and still are going to get screamed at for not getting around to other stuff. If they had fixed equipment this year, and left crowds & sideline cameramen alone, they'd still be accused of not giving people what they want. Kind of a no-win situation.
Hell, I can be a bit of a conspiracy theorist myself. Yes, I know, EA has shown to be an 'evil corporation' in some ways in the past. But I'd like to believe that EA-Tiburon is not purposely dragging things out over many years to milk us out of our money. Maybe they truly don't have the manpower to take on all these updates, at the same time as repairing a broken game carried over from last-gen, in 1 or 2 development cycles? Again, I'd like to believe that the devs aren't dicking around the office for 6 months out of the year and blowing off all of our requests ...Last edited by iLLWiLL; 07-17-2015, 10:10 PM.Comment

Re: Some New Madden NFL 16 Screenshots
Yep, that's why I say people have too high of expectations for one cycle. If they add edit players and draft classes but no weekly wrap up then people will complain about that. If they work on gap assignments and player movement, people will complain about a lack of dynamic weather or defensive assignments or formation subs or __________. There will always be something to complain about, if that is what you are looking to find.
A. It was in a previous Madden and was taken out
B. Was in multiple other football games in prior generations
There is also the critical point of how long Madden has been in development as a franchise. A lot of these things are small details that were nailed in other games a long time ago. Guys, we don't even have a proper full playcall screen and it's less functional than Madden 09's; a lot of people were unhappy with 15's specifically, and what did Tiburon do about it? Nothing. They gave us the exact same one all over again.
They make a lot of bad design decisions and they often work and/or fool around with things nobody was asking for, and to be honest I feel like that alone is a big reason why we're missing so many things in this game. Say what you will about Madden 10, but I give that past group credit for going the extra mile to add the exact small details that people were asking them for. They didn't do a lot of them properly and there was fallout over that, but still, they made the effort and people respected that effort at least. This current group simply doesn't appear to have that resolve.Comment

Re: Some New Madden NFL 16 Screenshots
You can't make everyone happy. With the improvements that have been made on the field with this team, it's hard not to at least be impressed with what they've done (wr/db interactions, physics influenced tackles, gang tackles, improved ol/dl play [no, not perfect], defensive camera, etc). I work with software daily and I know how difficult it can be making a change without affecting/breaking anything else. That only multiplies the larger your team gets. The complexity of coding these next gen games is way beyond what people think I believe. On top of that they have to maintain that offensive/defensive balance.
Sure I wish it was more. I miss formation subs, I wish the play call screen was better, replays were better, halftime show was better, post game wrap up, etc. But the reality is they make decisions as soon as they release the game what is going to be in the next year. Then it's a rat race to get all of those items in. I can't even begin to imagine the amount of regression testing that has to be done when they make major changes. And I'm sure things that seem minor are major changes. I see that misconception daily with my business partners. They request something they perceive as "easy to do". The reality is things can be extremely complex when it comes to coding and making it work alongside what is already implemented.
I'm not making excuses because I've been in the dissatisfied group for quite a few years but it is what it is. Madden 16 looks like it should be a pretty good game and I'll accept it good or bad because in reality, it's the only football game we have.
I would bet though these guys were pulling 50-60 hour weeks. I know I have prior to new software launches. Has to be tough to swallow for these guys when people insult their work ethic or "how much they care". Walk a mile in their shoes first.
With that said I'm glad people come on here and voice their displeasure of what's missing because that's how EA knows what's important to us as a community. It's a double edged sword I suppose.

In gamer's defense, a lot of what they complain about falls into:
A. It was in a previous Madden and was taken out
B. Was in multiple other football games in prior generations

Also, you mention the small details of 10, like the request of hand towels, refs, etc.....Couldn't the little things like that considered to be similar to female fans, proper clothing, etc....
You've already stated it earlier, it's the slow approach and the muck they need to get through from the same coding.
I don't think it's anything about resolve.Last edited by roadman; 07-18-2015, 09:42 AM.Comment

Last year ea added a player likeness patch and changed the faces on some of the players!!!!! Why can't they do a patch like that for equiptment.. At least just the shooters leave that 70 percent of the nfl wears! Instead they will prob add it next year and have there chest poked out about it.. That's the thing, they need to start going the extra mile.. And not just when the sales are bad.. (See nba live teams effort now that they have there backs against the wall).. EA! Go the extra mile for authenticity!!! Nba 2k does this well!! That's why they now sell more.. People notice that kind of effort!Comment

Just went to my local GameStop to preorder madden and asked if they were doing a midnight release.. Dude said he didn't know because not enough people had preordered.. Back in the day madden automatically got a midnight release.. He did say nba 2k was getting one, and he knew this this far out from release.. This is because of the little things.. Say equiptment got in this year.. The whole perception of this game looks the same argument might be diff.. People might perceive the Devs as listening to us closer. There is still time... Rex get that patch in the works.. U guys can patch equiptment this year then elaborate on it next year.. Don't let us down.Comment

Re: Some New Madden NFL 16 Screenshots
This is a damn good question.
JP or Kane -- can you ask the developers whether it is possible? I don't see why it wouldn't be. The graphic detail for arm sleeves & mouthpieces is far less than those of player faces ...Comment

Re: Some New Madden NFL 16 Screenshots
Idk how EA can go around adding tattoos to one or two guys a year but can't update the equipment that every player wears, they STILL have reebok glove in the game.Comment

And if they dont have time to do an overhaul of equipment, why not at least make what they have in the game more functional ?
Why not make arm sleeves like wrist, separate for each individual arm ?
Or make shoe color selection for each player from the equipment screen.. so not every player has to wear the same basic color combo ?
Or tattoo's... they said an artist copied the 2 players that have tattoo's... and I am guessing got approval to put them in.
Why cant that artist make his own version of sleeve tattoo's and allow them on any player ?
When you start going on 4 versions of the game...with the same hokey fix to single arm sleeves on only one player and tattoo's on 2 players ...
someone should have figured out a way to do something in this department !
