That said, I still wish the nighttime/indoor/overcast lighting was still brighter. The stadium lights should be illuminating the players & field ...

I agree that we can't be 100% at this moment, but you have to admit that Tiburon has put the flame of optimism for these things completely out after years and years of not doing them.

So, yeah, it might be a bit premature before the game comes out.
No offense to the Sim Standard, but it's awfully hard to take what they do with the same gravity as I did before they were getting free trips to Tiburon. The way they're approaching things now is a perpetual state of "let's give it time" as if the entire 9 games and a console generation of Madden falling shy didn't happen, and we're not playing a port-over of that failure.

Unless you get to go down there it's hard to understand. When Rex himself has said some of the reasons why the game is behind and that even those reasons aren't a good enough excuse for it, I don't know what more can be said. These guys are taking ownership for where the game is and committed to getting it where we all want it. If you play 16 and still can't see where this game is headed I'll be glad to talk to you because I find that hard to believe after experiencing it first hand. Like one of the sim standard guys said, you'll see the benefits of a full dev cycle this year compared with 25 and 15.

You communicate with them regularly. Give this a try: ask them to define "full" (remember, dev cycles are not set-in-stone periods of time for all games). Then ask them why the number of "full dev cycles" they've had at other points over the past 11 seasons haven't brought the game to where they themselves acknowledge it needs to be?

Madden has certainly had improvements over the years, but also ridiculous design decisions that at the same time moved the game backwards. What's funny is how they once had a competitor developing in the same timeframe, with a smaller team, and a smaller budget, and that competitor thoroughly kicked their butts in practically every aspect of simulation football, graphics, and presentation. I've long ago come to grips with the elephant in the room; Tiburon as a team and organization is simply not that good.

I'm sure Madden 16 will be better in plenty of ways. I'm also sure it's going to be yet another year where that next genre-defining football game we've been waiting for since 2004 (when we last got a genre-definer) isn't going to happen. If they want to ever make a play for that position, they can start with the little things and nail the basics of that, and they should; they have a tendency to try and go beyond benchmarks when they haven't even nailed the basics of those benchmarks (See the rehashed concept of "Beyond Broadcast"). That simply has to come to an end; one because it doesn't make logical sense for a sim football game, and two because nobody is asking them to do that. But it's going to take smart design decisions to get to the point of breaking these senseless directions, and I'm highly skeptical they have the team in place to make those kinds of decisions based on a number of parts of this game over many years.

That's quite the fishing expedition. Few on the project could even begin to answer that question from an operations perspective with the typical turnover in this industry, let alone the strategy, resources and prioritization behind each cycle. You'd have to ask nearly a C-level employee. In the end, what does it even matter, and in a thread about screenshots ?? lol.

It took me a couple of minutes to see that was Gronk because of the way his head was turned. At first I thought it was Scott Chandler. But these screenshots look great. Can't wait for this game to come out.

He brought it up, I responded to it. Besides, if they're as forthright as they present themselves, the answers are there and there are certainly more than plenty of people who've been there long enough to know what's been happening. At least doing that is a lot better than just taking every word they say at face value and never challenging anything, no matter how absurd the excuses they make often are.

And graphics are part of the discussion. There are lots of minor detail issues with graphics that can see in these screenshots. It's all part of the same development and it affects the entire development. The issue is systemic. Lack of attention to detail, and design decisions that focus on everything other than just getting it right to simulation, and I'm not even talking about major things. I'm talking about basic things like colors. For whatever reason they've gone off to the point that even fooling around with colors makes sense for them to do. Good that they're addressing it for 16, but something is very wrong for it to have ever been an issue to begin with, and that alone doesn't give me much hope for them to get other aspects corrected without having to be complained to a lot first. Some things you just have to able to get right without that.

This is probably an incredibly picky thing for me to be pointing out, but it doesn't quite look like Gronk's eyes are tracking the ball. His head definitely is, but his eyes look like he's looking to the right of and beyond it.

That said, that we're at the point technologically that I can even be remotely concerned about a player's eye balls tracking something this is pretty exceptional, and this is not an angle that anyone is going to see any anything but the dedicated instant replay camera, so I'm not terribly concerned about this. Just something that bugged me looking at this picture.

In totality I think the game really looks good this year.

You're right he isn't tracking the ball with his eyes. Didn't even notice that. They couldn't fix this in a patch could they?

They could patch that in, sure, maybe, if they decide that's a priority thing to patch in.

Will they? Doubtful. Again, I'm being super picky. No one plays the game from a camera angle with this tight a shot on an individual player; really you have to go into the dedicated instant replay mode and stop the game to ever get a shot like this.

There are plenty of other more important things to worry about, IMO.

Depending on where he's at in the process of the catch, he could just be looking away after securing it already.
