Good information, StLhokie. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the 4-2-5 base defense in NCAA 14 use a 2nd strong safety, not a nickle back? Wouldn't it make more sense to just use the standard 4-3 defence, but run a lot of nickle (which is in essence a 4-2-5 with a nickle back instead of a 2nd strong saftey). Just my thoughts, but doesn't really matter too much.

I also agree that I think VT's defense in particularly could use a ratings boost, though I admit I may be biased and see the potential in the players over what they have actually accomplished. That said, Phil Steele ranks the VT defensive line 4th in the country and their secondary 4th in the country. Surprising then that right now they have no lineman ranked in the 90's, and only one corner (Fuller). I would think Dadi Nicolas should be in the 90's, and I would have Fuller even higher than a 92, since he is widely considered the top top (or 2nd, depending on who you look at) corner prospect in the country.

In addition, Phil Steele has VT ranked 15th in linebackers in the country, yet outside of Deon Clarke, the linebackers aren't rated very high. I think Andrew Motuupuaka should be in the mid 80's, as he really improved as last year went on.

I don't have much complaints about the ratings on offense other than what we've already touched on (Wyatt Teller being too low, Bucky Hodges being too low, Isiah Ford and Cam Phillips being closer in rating, then a big drop-off at receiver after them).

I don't want to focus too much on the ratings because as I said, I'm probably somewhat biased, but this is just my two cents on the VT roster.

kinda hard to say VT D is going to be so great, i mean i am pretty sure my terrible Miami team beat them 30 to 6, yes i know it was one game but that game showed a lot to me, but quick question isn't VT Ovr D in the 90's?? or maybe a 89 or something like that?? none of VT DL made any All-American teams, maybe that will be good as a group but none of them just jump out when it comes to stats

Noil and Reynolds are both impact players on the latest file, I changed from Allen to Noil. Do you think someone else was more deserving?

I'd go Allen, Noil, and Garrett if it was solely up to me but I've been wrong before that doesn't mean Reynolds won't have more receiving yards or even receiving touchdowns, but the guy who changes the course of a game, is electrifying, makes big special teams plays etc is more Noil than Reynolds in my mind.

Not going to argue it if you keep it Noil / Reynolds / Garrett

Luther Maddy and Brandon Facyson were already out for the season at that point, and Kendall Fuller was playing with a broken arm. You guys did a number on us, no doubt. Duke Johnson went ham and we couldn't get him under control. But we only had 260 yards of offense. Defense can't be on the field the whole game without scoring support.

Fair point. They have had their share of poor games, though usually it was due to the complete lack of an offense. Consider they ranked 17th in the nation in defense last year, 14th against the pass. Not top 10 numbers, but they did with the 99th ranked offense, so they were on the field all of the time with no help.

More importantly, they returned everyone of note. You make a good point on the lack of all americans (though Kendall Fuller was one). If the goal is to only make All-Americans in the 90's, then I don't have much of an argument with the ratings on the d-line. Dadi Nicolas is a preseason 4th team All-America in Phil Steele though, if that counts for something. Kendall Fuller is a 1st team All-American, and Bucky Hodges is a 3rd team All American. I know he is just one pre-season prognosticator, but he's not the only one who thinks these are elite caliber players.

I would rather focus on getting the right players in the game than have a debate about ratings. It's tough to be too adament about VT's ratings when they had the terrible year they had last year. However, it is difficult to judge based on just the one Miami game, because judging on one game goes both ways... as Ohio State what they think of VT's defense!

Keep up the good work, I look forward to seeing the finished product.

Alright I can dig that...Noil / Reynolds / Garrett it is. I think Carson could potentially show out and deserve the 3rd spot over 1 of the WRs, we'll see if he gets the carries.

A couple notes on your Kansas corrections...


I originally had Cummings as a SR and took him off the depth chart so that he would RS and get his "sixth" year of eligibility. Not sure who changed that, but good catch there.


Millweard is in fact a RS JR, not a JR like you have listed. He played his FR year at UCLA before transferring and sitting out his second year and he played last year.


The official roster lists him as "Jayson" Rhodes, but from what I can tell he goes by "Jay." His twitter handle is @jayrhodes74 and his name on there is listed as Jay Rhodes.

Western Michigan CB Darius Phillips SO (RS) is really just underrated altogether as a player (last I looked 72 OVR - I'd go more like 77-78 OVR)

-Needs 95+ RET skill, 14th in country last year and ranked FWAA All-Freshman KR of the year (http://www.sportswriters.net/fwaa/ne...ica150114.html)
-Should be much faster, he's a speedster and Head Coach says he's fastest on entire team (94-95 range)
-Switching from WR (had 32 catches last year) to CB where he looked great in spring game - going to still be used at WR some this year, so CTH++

For those wondering, if the team is shaded green, that means they have been finished by me/SMadison and an editor has put it in the game.

Red shade on team means completed by me/SMadison, and an editor has NOT put it in the game.

Green shade on player, green shade on team means that the player has been updated.

Red shade on player, green shade on team means that the team has been finished by an editor, but the player is incorrect.

The warning on the first post is meant to deter people from downloading it, re-uploading it somewhere else, and then claiming it's theirs.

My personal recommendation would be to wait so that there aren't a bunch of "X" punters with 40 OVRs on a few teams. However, it should still play just fine. The X punters will likely be cut after the first season of Dynasty anyway.

Yup! Go ahead and download. Just a warning they aren't 100% perfect just yet. They have a few teams to make still and over 110 to still edit. I believe they are aiming for an official release on August 1st, however you can still download and use them! Just check the first post for updates on which name it's under.
