    Speed Ratings

SCEA is doing a good job updating the players ratings each week but i think they need to do something with a lot of players that are known speedsters or players that we know have good or decent speed and yet they haven't been updated and have low or inaccurate speed ratings. I know speed is one of the toughest ratings to get right, you shouldn't use Stolen Base numbers for speed ratings because theres a lot of factors that impact SB opportunities/success (Spot in the order, player ability to read pitchers etc) for example: Since Mike Trout was moved to the 3rd spot his SB numbers have gone way down not because he is slower but because as a #3 hitter a lot of times he is going to bat in the first inning with 2 outs, another is you can't risk being thrown out with Pujols batting.

I have updated some players based on my knowledge, scouting reports etc, they are not going to be perfect but i feel that they are better, I will be editing this post and continue to add players to the list.

All the ones you mentioned are not bad rated except for Ian Desmond which i think is at least a 75 runner and is 67 in the game.

The person most in need of an speed upgrade is Kevin Kiermaier. Despite being considered one of the fastest players in all of baseball and the amount of range he covers in Cf, he only has a rating of 56 for his speed. Truly an injustice! LOL

He was already updated by SCEA, they gave him 96 speed.

No, not in their weekly roster updates. OSFM updated his speed in their roster, but as of the 8/3 official SCEA update, his speed is still a 56.

SCEA Updated today Kiermaier's speed to 74 and Michael Taylor's to 75, not where they should be but at least they addressed it and assigned a acceptable rating.

Being an A's fan, I'm gonna be a little biased on speed because I watch these guys daily. Josh seems about right with the updated speed, but I think Lawrie could get an even bigger boost. I've never seen a guy beat out infield hits and double plays like him. I'd say he would fit around the 80-85 mark, just based off hustle.

Yeah i always thought that Lawrie in TOR was a 78-80 runner but because I haven't seen much of him lately i was a little bit skeptical about his rating but i gave him 78 now.

Could you do Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant? They both have very low speed and base running stats for what they are doing in real life, especially Bryant.

The only one I really disagree with is Brandon Phillips. He simply has slowed down with age and can't hit the extra gear like he used to. Good work though and hope you do more.

I know he has slowed down thats why i gave him only 70 not 75 or 80, he's still moving above average and i said in my post that SB don't tell all the story but having 17 SB with just 1 caught is impressive, especially in only 100 games. The previous 2 years he has been hampered by injuries but looks like he is healthy this year.

How about Joey Butler? I used the hybrid rating chart for him but it had him 47 speed i dont think thats avg or high enough for an OF unless they have aged and slowed down some.

I think the 59 speed SCEA gave him is accurate, he is an average defender with a strong arm, SCEA only gave him 61 in arm but i think is more near the 70's.
