Way to pull out the win, tough to see the offense get so stagnant. I can imagine how frustrating it is playing it out with the score always within reach. At least they figured it out before it was too late.

Our offense has never, ever, been this bad, so that was very tough. Miami had some quick, talented linemen, and they were all over us. D-Ham not throwing well did not help us out any.

One more game to fine tune and get back on track, as the Big 12 slate will not be particularly easy...we start with a very good Oklahoma St. team.

Definitely not the offensive performance we were hoping from but you got the win and that is what matters. Your offensive line struggled more than I expected. Good luck in the final out of conference game!

Indeed. The Line wasn't so bad, (Johnson did run for 100 yards), but dealing with a lot of blitzing and quick guys wasn't fun.

Central lost to an FCS team?! God almighty, may as well throw in the towel now. Looks like this season is going to be another wash! *shakes head*

D-Ham better get his butt in gear or he's going to lose his starting role. It's a good thing you've built that monster defense, that game could've been very ugly for you

Hopefully BC still has some rust that they didn't take care of against Towson, giving UConn the chance to take an easy win

Take solace in the fact that you play your best against these Power 5 teams. You beat Kansas, you nearly beat Oklahoma St. on the road last year. And *SPOILER* you are going to play Alabama well. Not revealing the result obviously, but I mean, you must be doing something right.

Also, you did lose starting QB Wood (forgot to mention that, out for a number of weeks), so at least there's a reasonable excuse. I believe your third stringer got in too.

I sure hope so. But something about them scares me still.

                        CAC Sign-Ups 2019

Friends, it is that time of 'chise season again. CAC time!!!!!

Still a little early I know, but some real life stuff is on the way and I am anticipating finishing up the current season next week before school starts back up, and I'll progressively catch up here as time permits.

If you wish to be a little more interactive with me in this 'chise, fill out a coach submission form and I'll insert you into the game as a coordinator at a mid-major school (in place of one of the fake coaches) in hopes that you can carve out your road to coaching glory with Coach Diaco. Who knows, maybe you can get to UConn someday.

The start of the 2019 season in 'chise will mark the fourth year of our create-a-coach side story featuring, you, the followers of this 'chise, me and our coaching alter egos.

You can PM this to me or post it right in here, either way works. I need submissions by Monday, August 24 unless I change my mind or if there are extenuating circumstances (contact me if this is the case; i.e., you are out of town next week and can't get to the site to fill this out, I'm more than willing to wait a couple days if need be). I'm back in school on the 26th, so I'm anticipating being at the start of 2019 at that point.

REMEMBER: Folks already with a coach in the 'chise are NOT allowed to submit another at this time.

Completely optional, as always, and it doesn't require you to be very active in this dynasty, the only thing you need to do is fill this out and watch 2019 unfold. But it's a lot of fun, I do updates in with the Around the NCAA post and it's just a neat thing to follow along on the side. I'm hopeful we can get some of these coordinators head coaching gigs soon so I can give UConn more compelling choices for out of conference scheduling in coming seasons. I have a feeling someone like Tyrell Coley, Brennan Smith or Trent Davis can snag a head coaching spot if their teams keep playing well.

                              The Best in New England

Led by Atkins' school record 5 sacks, UConn tops pesky BC

First off, thanks for the CAC's. Keep 'em coming in!

Now to the important stuff. As much as it pains me to say it, UConn has the best virtual football team in New England. This is now fact, no longer fiction.

However, there is no reason to feel confidence if you're UConn. After a sloppy 21-12 win over Boston College in which they only scored 2 TD's offensively and were outgained by nearly 200 yards, there are still (unfortunately) more questions than answers.

The first quarter was the worst on the offense, as there was no score, and Marcus Outlow seemed to be the only one prepared to play, racking up 21 yards on only 4 carries.

UConn was the first to break through early in the second, as David Hamilton fired a dart to Rashad Harris on a slant, and fell forward for the TD and 7-0 lead.

UConn assumed command barely a minute later, as Sam Rourke nailed BC QB John Smith and the ball popped out and floated up.

UCLA transfer Marcus Bradford happened to be right there and snatched the ball, sending Outlow sprawling on the turf. When he missed, Bradford easily returned the "pick" through the front door for a 14-0 UConn lead.

It took BC a bit to recover, but they stopped UConn's offense (at this rate anyone can) and started a nice drive late in the second quarter.

Outlow hauled in a 15 yard reception over the middle, and after the second sack of the day from James Atkins (out of 5), Gabe McClary, Travis Fields and Travis Denman made catches to move BC into a first and goal situation.

Outlow picked up and 4 and 3, but Smith threw away a third down pass and Mike Knoll booted BC's first three points of the day.

Hamilton was sacked on 2 of the 3 plays on UConn's next drive, and allowed Boston College to drive down field yet again. Aided by a pass interference call, Knoll's 46 yard field goal pulled BC to within 8 at the half.

Ron Johnson, held in check in the first half thanks to sloppy line play, broke out for 16 yards on the first drive out of the half, including a 2 yard TD run that put UConn up 21-6 early in the third.

BC had a chance to stay in the game, rattling off a long drive with runs from Outlow and Smith the catalysts, but Knoll pushed a 57 yard field goal right and UConn averted calamity, as they have become so good at doing.

Which is good, because they wouldn't score again.

That meant it was all on BC to get something going. They couldn't.

Into the 4th, Denman's 24 yard reception helped set up an 11 yard Outlow TD run (their first TD of the game), and the complexion of the game hinged on a big two point convo from Smith.

Dropping back to pass, Smith found a man, but pressure got in his face and he lofted the pass out of bounds to keep it a 9 point game.

Following another UConn 3 and out in which Johnson was stopped a yard short, Ryan Cooley torched Tashawn Coleman in coverage and picked up 29 down the left sideline. Tailback Dominic Morrow followed with a 14 yard wheel route catch, but BC was heeded by the great wall in Atkins. His fifth sack of the day (a new school record), pushed BC back, and that proved beneficial for UConn.

Outlow ran for 8 with 2:20 on the clock, and Cooley picked up 3 to the 9 yard line, setting up 4th down.

Smith threw a clean pass to Fields, who had a step on Anthony Watkins, had it in his hands in the end zone, popped out and fell harmlessly to the turf, preserving a UConn victory.

So while it was a win, I ask you this. Can D-Ham step up his game? He has to, that's for sure. If we want to have any chance in the high-powered Big 12, we need to find something that works. Now.

But 'till then, we are the best in New England and the eastern seaboard. And we happen to have a 19 game winning streak. Bye week up next. Rise Up Together!

Your offensive performance is horrific. The streak is in danger going into Big 12 play if you guys can't pull it together
