    Traveling with game consoles?

Moving to California tomorrow and want to take my PS4 with me. Flying out of Chicago tomorrow. Any advice on traveling with game consoles to keep them safe? i'm leaning towards carrying it on the plane rather than checking it into my luggage.

I use to take my Xbox 360 to California on flights. I always packed it in my carry-on bag. Be prepared for Security Screeners to raise an eyebrow when that bag goes through the X-ray machine lol

I did it with my 360 on a few flights out to boston back in 2006. I put it in my checked bag. Just made sure there were towels or clothes around it and it was tight where it wouldn't move around. It always worked out.

You have to take it out though, like a laptop.

I did it with my PS3 tons of times, which I think is built more durably than my PS4. I wrapped a bath towel around it and placed it in my old school backpack. I can't trust doing it with my PS4 though, probably more because of how it's slanted.

Anyway, in my backpack in the overhead it has always been okay.

When I moved to Cali for a while and traveled I put my ps3 in my backpack. Put the cords in other places, because you have to take it out to put in that machine. One dude bent my hdmi cord before.

Yeah i never check in electronics EVER. I just don't trust anyone in the back as I used to work at an airport.

The worst was my move to the Philippines, I had to go through check in with two laptops, ps3, dslr camera with lenses and a bunch of other electronics I had like a vita, portable speakers, headphones.

I had one carry on luggage jam packed with stuff and my backpack packed as well. Had to go through L.A. check, Seoul and then again in Manila.

My Rock Band 2 box set got stolen somewhere between me checking it in in San Diego and trying to retrieve it at the carousel in San Francisco. I bought it when Toys R Us did like that $100 deal for it while at SDSU and wanted to bring it home for winter break, but the drum set had an issue with the blue cymbal and I had the disc with me and I broke down the guitar and had it in my backpack. So all the thief got was a broken drum set and the microphone. It was wrapped up and everything, so they would have had to unwrap it to see what was underneath before deciding to take it.

But no, checking in electronics is a no-go for me as well. It must be on my person.

For a second I thought this thread was about going on vacation with your console
