Not to mention this very thread is about a video where it's evident the lighting has been vastly improved.
And yes, the court reflections were much too bright in 2K14. There's no disagree or not about it. They objectively just are, but judging by the latest video, I would like to see them turn up the reflections a bit more, especially at low angles (fresnel). We're getting so close.
There's also one more thing that needs to be turned up to sell the illusion of arena lighting. The under light caused by the arena floor itself. There's likely a bit of it in 2K, but you can see how consistently the surfaces pointing down and facing the floor are brightened in photos and videos from nearly any camera angle.
I would think this could be implemented as a simple ambient diffuse environment map or a reflectance map with mip mapped roughness levels. I bet one already exists so maybe it just needs adjusting, and the engine looks like it already has realtime ambient occlusion, so the map just needs to be multiplied by that so you don't get weird lighting in armpit cracks and such. If that was implemented or adjusted, it would add a subtle but powerful effect of feeling like the players are actually in the space of an arena with hardwood floors and arena lighting.
