Big 12 discussing penalties for Diaco
Over comments about Bill Legg in postgame press conference
Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby is "looking into" discipline for UConn head coach Bob Diaco following his comments directed at West Virginia head coach Bill Legg at his postgame press conference after the two teams played last week. West Virginia won 45-17.
Diaco showed his displeasure with Legg's decision to keep his starters in the game's fourth quarter well after Diaco had taken his out and the game was decided.
Originally posted by Bob DiacoI mean...you're up 45-17. You know as soon as we get out backups in to get yours in too. What was Bill trying to accomplish, being an ***? Showing off? If that's it, they succeeded in being classless morons.
"Coach Diaco's comments were out of place and makes him look as bad as he accuses coach Legg of being," Bowlsby says. "I'm all for showing intensity and allowing a game's results to reflect in tone when directing the media," he continues, "but that type of comment needs to be cleaned up."
Diaco did not comment on Bowlsby's statement and was not able to be reached at this time.
Diaco could face anything from a fine to a 1-game suspension, according to sources. A penalty will be determined before UConn's Week 9 game against Kansas.
Controversy is nothing new to UConn this season, as the NCAA is currently investigating recruiting violations committed by Diaco and former assistant Anthony Poindexter over the past 4 seasons. A ruling will be determined at the end of the year.Last edited by thesportsguru11; 07-09-2017, 01:45 PM.Check out We have a football team too..Guru's UConn Huskies in Dynasty HQ!

Looks like Diaco was ticked! Seems he might have had a reason too though. Hopefully the conference just gives him a slap on the wrist, and he won't have to miss any games.Dynasty URL: http://www.operationsports.com/forum...post2047536342

Re: We have a football team too... Guru's UConn Huskies (NCAA 14)
Diaco gets $10K fine from Big 12
UConn coach Bob Diaco has received a $10,000 fine from the Big 12 for his comments about West Virginia head coach Bill Legg's decision to not take out his starters until much later in the teams' game last Saturday night.
Diaco will not be facing a suspension at this time, according to a Big 12 spokesman. However, if he is penalized again, steeper punishments may be in place, including a minimum one-game suspension.
Diaco has not yet issued an apology to coach Legg, nor did he make a statement about the fine. However, A.D. Warde Manuel had this to say:
Originally posted by Warde ManuelWe will accept Coach Diaco's penalties and work to prevent this from happening again.
Here's hoping it gets better!
He definitely did, I was quite unhappy with West Virginia myself, but I realize that I took out the starters a bit early too. It's really a toss-up.
While it's a slap for now, looks like Diaco can accept it and move on without further issue. Hopefully.Last edited by thesportsguru11; 07-09-2017, 01:46 PM.Check out We have a football team too..Guru's UConn Huskies in Dynasty HQ!

Re: We have a football team too... Guru's UConn Huskies (NCAA 14)
Hi all,
Bit of a thread update here. Just wanted to let you know that I'm back in school tomorrow, and additionally our house just sold two weeks ago, so a lot going on here! We have to be out of the house by October 1 and I'm not 100% sure on if I can get the PS3 and PS2 set up at our rental (though I think I can...)
Anyway, basically this means the updates will be slowing down for a while, but this is still going and going strong. Just not as quickly.
Got a little behind here because of some other projects I've been tinkering with the past few days, so I am almost at the end of bowl season in real time (I just have the National Title Game left to go before I can move onto the offseason, I was hoping to be done with 2018 today).
Because of this, CAC's will remain open for anyone who hasn't gotten a chance to enter yet. I have three for this season (RaiderAid89, TheRosterMaster and Convict38 off the top of my head), and I have room for everyone.
Look through the last 3-4 pages for the CAC sign-up form if you are interested please. And as always, this is completely optional.
Lastly, I want to thank everyone for their continued support through the summer as we continue to ride this 'chise to the very top. I should have 2018/Season 5 caught up by the middle of September (after Kansas, 4 more games, plus some postseason game(s)), then I can proceed into 2019/Season 6, which I'm really excited for as we can see how well I've been recruiting.
And again, it's an honor to have you along for the ride.
Take care,
Guru
Thanks Matt.Check out We have a football team too..Guru's UConn Huskies in Dynasty HQ!

Re: We have a football team too... Guru's UConn Huskies (NCAA 14)
Super Utility
McNeal scores triple crown, UConn moves to 7-1
If UConn was looking for a way to bounce back after a rough visit to a Big 12 foe on the road and a turbulent week off the field, a visit back at the rowdiest house in the east temporarily patched up some of UConn's problems.
After a 54-27 pasting of 1-7 Kansas in East Hartford, UConn, and for that matter Coach Diaco, have both regained some of the confidence they lost last week and regained their foothold near the top of the Big 12 race.
Leading the way was a 267 yard, 2 TD performance from freshman sensation Tanner Dean-Lowry and 199 all-purpose yards from Jeff McNeal, who made UConn history by scoring on all three sides of the ball -- offense (rushing TD), defense (INT return TD in the 4th), and special teams (103 yard kick return in the second).
Despite a slow start (the first points coming off an INT return TD from Travis Lumpkin), UConn was able to start pulling away before the half.
Late in the second quarter, backed up to their own 8 yard line after a good Kansas punt, UConn got a 16 yard catch from Jeff Matthews, which was followed by a beautifully executed play action streak to Jon Haden, who blew past the Kansas secondary and jetted to the house for a 76 yard TD.
Immediately after a 51 yard Sam Shelten field goal, McNeal pushed the UConn lead to 21-3 on his 103 yard return TD -- pure speed to the left side, outrunning everyone.
UConn began to put the game out of reach after the half. TDL led a long 12 play drive that culminated in a Ron Johnson TD from 4 yards out to make it 28-3.
Alston Trent led KU with a big 26 yard scramble to the UConn 14, but Joe Dineen Jr. and Corey Avery failed to finish the job, so the Jayhawks were forced to take 3 and rely on the defense.
Haden caught his second TD of the day after another good return from McNeal to the Husky 42 yard line. From the 22, Haden ran a curl route on the right side and his dive at the end zone was enough to get him in and stretch the lead to 35-6.
James Atkins recorded another sack (#15 I believe..??) on the next drive, and he is closing in on the single season sack record for UConn, set last year by Cam Stapleton. That sack ruined all the momentum Trent and Kansas might have had, as a few plays later Trent's lame duck pass going nowhere fast was picked off by Ross Sinclair. Trent had 4 INT's the game (Lumpkin, Sinclair twice, McNeal), compared to 265 yards and only one TD.
Kansas would get on the board and make the game a bit more respectable than it actually was, though. Anthony Cortenlen ended a promising UConn drive with a pick six of his own late in the third quarter, Kansas' first TD of the day late in the third quarter.
But after a second rushing TD from Johnson, UConn had put the game out of reach, the second stringers came in and UConn wound down a 54-27 win and big confidence booster.
UConn enjoyed a fantastic day in all facets of the game, with McNeal's three TD's and 200 all purpose yards, TDL's 2 TD passes, Johnson's 2 running TD's, Haden's 116 receiving yards and various other contributors scoring solid days in the win.
Now that we're back on track and that we've had our best offensive day of the year arguably, we can refocus our sights on perhaps the bigger picture. With 4 games remaining (Kansas State, Iowa State, TCU and Houston), we are still very much in the Big 12 Title hunt and a New Year's Six and CFP berth.
With another bad team in Kansas State next (albeit in Manhattan), can UConn keep it up? Come back next time and find out.

Oh I know...going over my notes there was literally nothing positive I could say about Kansas aside from their kicker. I stopped tracking the game after the subs went in, and that was of course when KU scored their two TD's.
Really excited for the first game tomorrow (NDSU-Montana I believe?) then everyone else next weekend. So close!!Check out We have a football team too..Guru's UConn Huskies in Dynasty HQ!
