Madden tats
So last year we got Collin K's tats and this year we get ODB's.....So every new madden from now on we get one more Player with accurate tattoos??? Its not a huge thing but having notice how well the tats look to they're counter parts I would def love to see EA add a lot more players or at the very least a DLC??? Just makes this game even more authentic.Tags: None -
Re: Madden tats
I can't remember the exact reason why, but I think EA has to get permission from the player+tattoo artist that tatted the player. That could be wrong though?? -
Re: Madden tats
This was discussed last year in length.
U have to have the players and the tattoos artist approval to add them..
Many of the artist want money to have them in the game and ea will not pay them.ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Re: Madden tats
I'm assuming the face scanning technique captures the neck area? That texture probably maps to the player model pretty easily. Arm tattoos, however, would have to be done from reference (according to EA they need artists written authorization) because player models are not unique to my knowledge - arm length, shoulder width, leg length.Alabama Crimson Tide | Jacksonville Jaguars

Just wondering if EA did full body scans like 2k would they still need artist approval? Since they clearly don't for neck tattoosI'm assuming the face scanning technique captures the neck area? Re: Madden tats
I'm sure they still would. I was under the impression that this is an EA Sports policy meant to protect the company from more frivolous lawsuits.
It's an interesting question. I mean if I was a photographer who took proffessional photos of someone with tattoos, I wouldn't have to seek the tattoo artist's permission in order to profit from my work - the photos are an original work meaning the photographer owns copyright. However, creating a texture from reference might be considered different than scanning a photo of a person's arm and mapping that texture to a polygon.Last edited by GameBreaker35; 08-26-2015, 12:03 AM.Alabama Crimson Tide | Jacksonville Jaguars

Re: Madden tats
Not sure if it was Madden or MLB but i'm pretty sure one game doesnt have tattoos because the league doesn't want the devs to put them in since they think tattoos give them a bad image or so?
Probably MLB though, Baseball is still stuck in the 60sComment

Re: Madden tats
For recreating the exact tattoo, sure, getting permission from the artist might be an issue, but NBA2k has had generic player tattoos for as long as I can remember so there must be another issue as well.
In business strategy classes, I used to make up a story about how the NFL doesn't allow their players in video games to be shown with tattoo's, but the NBA does, and its part of the many things the NFL does to try and maintain control and keep their image clean to attract more customers.Comment
