    4th quarter woes against CPU

Is it just me or is anyone else having issues in the 4th quarter playing against the CPU?

Every time my game enters the fourth quarter when I'm leading, the CPU always comes back no matter the point deficit.

My quarterbacks act like they have never thrown a football in their life before; overthrowing their receivers by 10 yards and receiver stopping on routes.

Has anyone else noticed this besides me?

I've noticed this for years with Madden games. It seems like at a certain point their AI algorithm goes into crazy mode and the QB instantly throws 8 passes in a row. :P

I have seen this a lot with madden. As I have not played madden 16 I can't speak for that version but I play a lot of madden 25 and it happens almost every game. On my CFM on 25 just yesterday I was playing the confrence championship to see who would go to the superbowl. It was 4th Q I was a head 17-0 and all of a sudden No matter what we could not stop the cpu at all. All game we had them pinned up they could not run or pass but 4th Q rolled around and boom nothing could stop them. It was 17-10 with a minute left they started driving the field and the cpu threw a horrible pass that I picked off well in bounds my DB took 5 steps before I went out of bounds and they called it a incomplete pass and no challenge. It was now 4th down with 30 seconds left the cpu threw a pass to the RB who was just past the first down marker who had to jump to catch the ball. He landed out of bounds with both feet and they get a challenge and it was over turned giving them the first down. The game went to the wire where I pulled it out barely.

Nope. currently 2-0 in test CFM and in both I held lead.
Will keep an eye on though....

I have noticed this big time in the MUT games that require the user to hold a lead against the CPU; all of a sudden they are completing streaks and pulling off sweeps that go for big gains (18+ yards).

Frustrating to say the least...I am drinking beer now...

The AI does get better at times when it is trying to come back but I would not at all call it rubber banding. It is very well possible to maintain a large lead.

one way i have found to combat this is to super sim your defensive possessions, much more realistic results

Yeah the CPU turns a little super, but the challenge is real.

I also find that usering the middle linebacker or a safety covering a yellow zone in the center of the field can help; if you break up the AI logic, the CPU doesn't know what to do.

Offline has what I call "Cheat Mode" where the game either ends like mentioned or the game starts out with very cheap turnovers: fumble kickoff, punts, runs, etc... Yes I know they do occur in real life, but you would have to play a series to see it. You''ll blow it away 40+ points and then suddenly you only score 3 or 7 points in the 1st half. This is playing sim, no hot routes, no money plays and punting on 4th down. The key is to get beyond 17 points. If you play it in a series you will see how much harder suddenly it is to run if you normally run with ease. The same with passing. If it only scores 3 points you will see the defense harder than normal.

I agree it is a challenge. In M15 I would play NE for the Super Bowl back to back to back, etc... It is not smarter AI. The tougher games have unrealistic and superman plays. RBs suddenly are stronger and harder to stop.
More pass plays as stated that go with no misses. Defense reads your plays even if it is the first time using it. The game will try to get you a score down by halftime to get the kick and go up by 2 scores.

It is not impossible to win. Just requires a little more patience.
Then after you win that game guess what? The next set starts out easier again.

It was crazy. The backup QB of NE was playing better than the starter.
                      That is NOT AI. Lol.

17 points does seem to kick the comback A.I. on. I've played 5 games so far, and two if them were lopsided -although one of them I was on the receiving end of. Interestingly enough, when the CPU got up on me 21 to 0, my players started making better plays. The other game was the opposite. I got up 21 to zero on the CPU and they started gashing my defense.

That being said, it's alot more tolerating than it has been in the past. I still feel like I can make something happen to swing momentum in my favor.
