I love that you can say whatever you want on reddit, not get banned, and you get to talk directly with developers. -

I think people were just honestly venting their frustration. But, Kolbel choose to have his AMA there and not here, so he must have been prepared for those sorts of replies. I think he handeled it well. I also worry that they might alienate him, but I think most of the vitriol gets downvoted.Comment

(To haters)
we're human. We make mistakes. Software in this era is fantastically complex and in the literally MILLIONS of lines of code, thousands of logic systems, hundreds of screens, and dozens of ways to play the game, things can get overlooked.
At the end of the day, we all care WAY more than you seem to think we do. The pain you guys feel is nothing compared to the burden we carry while trying to get it fixed and back out to you so you can enjoy the game.
All I can really say is that we understand the feeling behind the current state of Game Prep and have some ideas. Unfortunately, I can't commit to any kind of timeline.
My plea: Please don't let CFM die.
You have my promise (and I realize this means nothing to you) that CFM will not die. We are doing everything we can to make it a mode you'll love.
Contrary to what people believe, we spent more dev time on CFM than MUT this year. CFM will not be abandoned or left to die... nothing even remotely close.
Balancing progression in CFM is amazingly complex. The littlest thing, for example - DT's getting a ~1 additional sac per year from the left side in the simulator, will dramatically increase how quickly a LG regresses.
In CFM MANY systems are related and often refer back to each other for information. It makes for a very dynamic and emergent behavior, but the side effect are some of the thins you're seeing.Comment

Someone asked the question about getting the error download when trying to download shared files.. Kolbel acted as if he's never seen that before. What kind of rock have these dudes been under?!?!

Yeah, I give him big ups for dealing with some of the *******s on there. I would never take up my personal time to deal with people who can't refrain from being tools.
No they won't. You could show them digitally time stamped work logs and all kinds of other data, and they would be like, "I still don't believe you" When someone has a narrative to push, a little thing like facts won't get in their way.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Re: Reddit Kolb Q&A - Madden Creative Director
Unlike Reddit, this forum has rules to ensure that the conversation around sports video games has a constructive tone, as to avoid posts like these. Also unlike Reddit, where you can sign up for as many accounts as you have email addresses, this forum doesn't allow for multiple accounts to circumvent a ban.
We strive to create an environment where the developers feel welcome to post and an enviroment where they won't be insulted, cussed out, or bombarded with vitriol. I've had a couple current Madden developers tell me they avoid this website on account of being unnecessarily and personally harassed, insulted, and attacked via PM, which is completely uncalled for. The stuff like what I linked in the Reddit posts above is not at all what we want here. Whether the developers choose to engage the community at this forum at this point is at their own discretion.
With that, we'll be getting back on topic to the Reddit Q&A Kolbe conducted (realizing most of you are on-topic; I felt compelled to address this post I replied to, but I don't want this to derail the thread). If you have questions about forum moderation, please send them to a moderator or administrator via private message.Comment

Re: Reddit Kolb Q&A - Madden Creative Director
Honestly I believe them bc cfm got new menus and MUT got nothing. The problem is in a lot of people's opinions nothing of substance was added to cfm and things the community have been asking for are still ignored. That's why people say they didn't spend any time on cfm even though it is technically incorrect.Yeah, I give him big ups for dealing with some of the *******s on there. "Yes, I understand you would like more time to get out all the kinks, but should consumers continue to support a product that is sold broken? "I built your car. The brakes don't work, but I would have made it work had I been given more time. I'll get those to you in a couple weeks."
this is a perfect example really how poor of a business model they actually have.
most people wouldnt buy this game on or near release date had we known.
but then again it happens every year so maybe we shouldve....Comment

Re: Reddit Kolb Q&A - Madden Creative Director
Do some people not realize they ALWAYS release the game at the end of August in preparation for the football season? I mean, what I'm saying here, is that there is no 'delay the launch of the game.' They try to get known bugs out before launch, but if they can't, they can't. They release the game and continue to iron what bugs they can for a later patch while we get to play what we have available. This has been the most enjoyable realistic playing madden EVER!! I hate to say I am happy with a 'broken' game, but really, this game is not 'broken.' It just isn't fully polished. Maybe, a better description than selling u a car without brakes is selling u a car with no wax job, or a small scratch. Lol. U can sure as hell drive it, but it's not as pretty as it could be. I, for one, am enjoying the hell out of this game playing CFM. So, I'm hoping they fix what they can, but man, let's be honest, this THE BEST MADDEN EVER!

Then how come it is so broken? This is actually more alarming. I used to think these are creative, smart people that just need to focus more of their time on CFM. Now I think that maybe new people need to be involved in creating CFMComment

Re: Reddit Kolb Q&A - Madden Creative Director
As a poster above said there's a hard deadline. You do what can before release and anything that doesn't get fixed at launch usually gets addressed in patches. For day 1 buyers this may not be ideal but it usually gets ironed out in patches later on.
This is not a test.Because I live in van down by the river...Comment
