Re: Madden NFL 16 Community Impressions

With the gameplay being better than it's ever been, I'm desperately missing formations subs now. Scheming and matching up to contain certain players really matters now, so having to make all these switches at the beginning of each game is such a pain.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

I'm on the fence this year about buying Madden. My two biggest complaints last year were terrible AI QB play and overpowered zones which made both sides constantly play zone. I've looked all over and haven't found them discussed in much detail, have they been addressed? Does the AI get competent QB play this year on default all-pro or all-madden? Is there more balance between man and zone?

I'll let someone else answer the zones issue for you. me personally, I feel it is balanced.

But your concern for QB play is very valid, it is the reason why I got rid of madden 15 after a week. Madden 16 has the best QB AI in the series and in my opinion all football games ever.

It is the most significant improvement for madden 16 and is the biggest reason why this game has gotten rave reviews on OS. QB is the most important position and this game you will be able to tell when you use a scrub versus when u use an elite QB. Same as agaisnt the CPU, against a scrub he will be missing passes left and right.

Last year had robo QB, not any more
Last year QBs only threw dink and dunk short passes, not anymore
Last Year QBs took too many sacks because they waited and waited, greatly improved this area as well. Mobile QBs wiill look to scramble or buy more time.

        hope that helps

Thanks for the reply. The improvement in AI QB play as you suggested might give me an indication of the issues with overpowered zone d. I've had issues with terrible AI play the last couple years and once you see the pattern the game is borderline unplayable. I tried just about every slider set and even some house rules and would regularly see the cpu qb throw for less than 100 yards in a game.

Liking the game but online is a chore. Constantly seeing the same plays run 3-4 times consecutively and the defense acts like they've never seen it before.

On defense cover 4 zone seems to stop everything including the run.

            Bring back fair play!!

One of my biggest gripes about CFM is having players speed drop so majorly from one season to the next ( only 6 months in between seasons ) and they are nothing but 31 years old. This is completely unrealistic and it hurts CFM play, especially for the veteran teams as you have to rush the rookies into the lineup because of this and someone like Revis who would be rated 95 Ovr,his speed would be 78 so obviously you couldn't let your CB see the field with 78 speed regardless of all his other attributes. Players in real life are playing well into their mid 30's and while they have lost a little speed and mainly agility and acceleration which should be the main two attributes that takes a nose dive, no way at 35 do they turn into having a offensive lineman speed by the end of their career.

Also, set a bar for how low speeds at certain positions can ever get. For example, CBs and WRs speed should never be lower than around 85 speed, ever! If they played into their 50's..... ok...... but we are talking about their early to mid 30's. Seeing a CB or WR speed at 78 or 68 is completely unrealistic and if a player speed at those two positions were to ever drop that majorly like that in real life, sure they would have retired years ago seeing that speed has alot to do with playing sports period. Even the slowest player in the league at those two positions couldn't afford to be as slow as Madden will end up having them .

Please address those two issues.......... just because a player is 30 doesn't mean all of a sudden they are gonna lose a significant amount of speed all of a sudden .

online is a bit of a mess right now. played a few games today/ tonight.

lots of people just using dri archer as their rb and using tosses and screens to the outside and running around my defense. one guy i played literally did this the whole game.

another guy used the fullback dive using AP at fullback from i & goaline formation and just did it for 4 downs right up the field for 2 TD's.

seemed like even if i sent the house, AP fights for yards through the first lot of contact and still picks up 4 yards a play. a few plays he dragged defenders for 9, 10, 11 yard plays.

I wish EA would fix player mode. I love creating a player and taking him through his career. The problem is I made a QB my first season and the computer is awful. The AI QB only passed for 30yrs in my first game in my second game Tom Brady through for 55yrs. That's on all pro. If you make a defence player than your offence cannot score points. I wish EA would put sometime into making this mode more similar to mlb the show.

Rex mentioned in this interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJlg4SKHfy8 that he knew that the speed drop was a flaw in implementation and that it was something they could fix in roster updates.

Nothing like getting my butt handed to me by the CPU. Default All-Pro (slow, 12-min. quarters), Cleveland (CPU) at Tennessee. Final: Browns 21-16 (was 21-3 but I scored 2 garbage TD's late).

I couldn't do anything on offense; run game was neutralized and Mariota made the mistake of challenging Joe Haden a couple of times. Picked off twice by him and thew another INT. I could tell I was using a team that didn't feature a big playmaker, that's for sure.

Defensively I did fine, forced 3 turnovers (2 INTs) and sacked McCown 3 times. Browns benefitted from a solid run game and good field position due to the turnovers and my lack of moving the ball on offense.

This was my first game after downloading the tuner update. Good news is that to me, the game played just as well as it did before the update.

I love the addition of the option to start your franchise in pre season or regular season. Now I can download the week one roster and start in the regular season without worrying to see some weird player cuts in year one.

The break tackle animations in this one are too damn long to be effective.

Also I feel like EA overdid it with the QB in accuracy in the mid range.

Now if we can just get an option to start in the offseason pre draft(like ps3/360 NHL) for those that would like that like myself.
