My QB is Derek Carr ... and his dac is in the 60's too.
I can hit down field throws with him, but like in real life a few things have to happen.
he needs time from his o-line so the play can develop and so that carr can find a place in the pocket (or outside) to plant his feet and step into the throw.
touch is crucial too. spearing a bullet won't work, I like the double-tap touch pass and if it's on a streak route or post/ flag route i slightly lead the pass out in front of the wr.
in my mut i have a fast slot receiver who can get down field, and i'm hitting him for the deep ball sometimes 2 or 3 times a game.
play action is your friend, if you get the ground game going, i find you can get all kinds of time to play a good deep ball on any play action routes if the D is biting on the runner.
