Re: NHL 16 Trial Available Now For EA Access Subscribers, Get 10 Hours of Gamplay

    ONE GAME ALERT..

Just got back home but did manage one game with Chicago - Tampa Bay before I left earlier.

    - Game looks better, arenas, players, lighting, animations, etc.. not that it looked bad before, but wow does it look realistic.

    - Defense holding up on the blue line instead of skating backwards towards the goalie.. FINALLY.. defense seems much better (again, only one game)

    - more loose pucks, sticks tipping pucks, players reacting to get a piece of the puck, etc.

    - scored on my first shot, a wicked wrister (I use auto aim) final was 4-2 but I was outshot 23-20 on default AS/Hardcore

    - Turned off all the help aids.. I can see where new players will like them, but to me they look odd during a game

    - seems to be more slider stuff like time scaling for a delayed penalty (one penalty in my game so I'll crank it up)

    - crowd seems to be louder at the right times.. except at the end of the game when I won, they just sat in their seats

I'm going to play a few more games tonight as that was just a 4 min/period game. I need to make a few initial tweaks and get my Blues on the ice.

I did not enjoy NHL 15. I was way to difficult on Pro and way too easy on Rookie for someone who hasn't played much nhl since ps2 days.

Well I really wanted to like this and get it this year, but I am not seeing much difference. I played a 10 minute period pens v devils, I"m half way through holding the cpu 2-0 and then the goal onslaught. Give up a quick 4 restart a couple times playing with sliders a bit. I am terrible at faceoffs decent with offense, give up too many shots, but the goals allowed are so cheep or unstopable one-timers. So many times the puck lays ther and the goalie is incapable of covering it up until its bundled in. After a third try and a cheep goal for me and then a cheep for the AI, Ive had enough. This isn't a game for me sadly.

The right stick deking feels really unresponsive. Im sure thats by design, but it feels really bizarre.

Have anything to do with deking attributes being low on those you are noticing this with?

Would be nice if ratings mattered more in this area

Can anyone confirm whether or not the players season goal total shows up after they score a goal in GM mode? Last year it only showed a (1) when they scored (provided it was their first/only goal of the game).

Are we able to add custom music this year ? I miss being able to do that.

Almost 3 hours and it's at 79% this is just a tad bit frustrating.

I can see EAA having issues like many have said, but I cannot even run my system 100%. From sign in issues, stable connection to the Internet, and xbox live being down for me, but it claims it is up when it acts like its down. oh well ill just wait until everything isnt bottle necked.

Yeah after 90 minutes I was stuck at 17%..yet downloaded the Madden patch in 30 seconds. EA servers in the EA Access was a bit slow but now that I'm on the Xbox it's moving a bit faster. I played the intro game while it was installing and it played great. Didn't run into any issues thru one game. Did not notice much of a difference in commentary but will let it install all the way and give it another whirl before I really make another comment about it.

I dont think so, its more of the way the right stick is implemented. As if its been re-designed as more of a puck protect this year, than the deking stick it was over the last few years.

Had more success with Giroux in practice mode just coasting slowly and only lightly tapping the right stick to do small left right dekes.

If you want to dominate the faceoff dots in NHL 16, here are the guys with the highest faceoff ratings:

                            <iframe width="540" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/nb5yNnL_6IM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

EA has actually changed a lot of these ratings since last year. So I'll give them so credit for finally switching those up a bit. But there are still way too many wingers with abnormally high ratings compared to the bulk of this game's centermen.

Anyone notice that the CPU is WAY TOO Aggressive? They're not even playing hockey, they're just body checking, stealing the puck and shooting at the goalie. One game, superstar difficulty (8 min periods, I usually do 10) they had 47 shots on me. and dropped 7 goals on me to my 2.

It's like they're not trying to play hockey, just NHL hits out there.

I've tweaked some of the sliders and game play settings and it still doesn't matter. Tuning will fix it, but man it's annoying

                              Edit:

I forgot to mention that the User CPU teammates are still useless

And the CPU found ways to get breakaways off face offs which in the NHL is next to impossible

First FULL game and I won 7-4 over Edmonton. The default game speed seems too fast (and I have always played on default speed). Too many shots on 8 minute periods and the game was frantic.

Only 2 penalties called with the slider full.. UGH.

Goalies seem better as far as animations go.. but me scoring 7 goals (11 total) (last one was EN) doesn't bode well... will turn speed down one notch next game.

They do have the Blues goal horn, goal song and how they chant 1, 2, 3, etc.. for each goal.. down pat.

Sliders will be needed for sure.
